The property is a family roman estate since 1600. The Torretta castle and the Foresteria villa , the wonderful swimming pool, are situated on 360 acres of rolling, natural woodlands and manicured gardens and are located at via Pisana 600 right near the heart of Rome (15min from Vatican-2,5km inside GRA)
It is one of the 13 nature parks situated within Rome's city boundaries where sacred woods blend with cultivated fields, ancient farmhouses and medieval tower stand next to patrician residences, and precious olive trees grow side-by-side native cork oaks and pine trees. There is an intense profume of cultivated land, while the metropolis is well behind you. It' picture postcard landscape that is both sweet and savage is living proof of an incredible bio-diversity successfully preserved.
Sceneries unfolding before the visitor's eyes are often the same ones celebrated by Goethe or landscape painters of the 19th century. We are happy to invite guests to come experience for themselves the old farm life of 'vecchia Roma'. Inhale scents, colors, flavors and sensations that still exist today and represent an invaluable heritage that must be treasured and appreciated. Make friends with the farm's donkeys, bunnies and newly hatched chicks. Visit an ancient drinking trough full of newly hatched pollywogs. Follow along a well-maintained footpath traversing a cork forest in search of signs of habitat from a great number of wild animals such as fox, beechmartens, weasels, lodgers, porcupines, and pheasant that take refuge in the wooded areas of the property. For children and adults alike, Torretta de Massimi nature reserve is an open air classroom. Bus stop at 100mts from the property gate. supermarket at 100 mt, A very good restaurant-pizzeria with free pickup and return at the property at 5min drive

the best way to enjoy Rome everyday as you were at home, sleeping far away from noise and traffic
Four of us had a weeks stay at the tower.
It is a fantastic alternative to staying in a small hotel room.
The property is about 20 min by bus ( $ 1 euro ) to the center
of rome. We had a car but found the bus more convenient and cheaper, also more fun. The tower is a historical building and has charm and character. Plenty of room for two couples
or family. It has a kitchen two bedrooms two shower/toilets,
and a fantastic pool right outside the front door. It was great to
come back and have swim and a beer by the pool after walking Rome all day. There is a small town walking distance, for shopping etc.... There are three houses for rent on this property,
we prevered the tower only because it was different and the pool
was close but I would recommend any of them if you are staying with a group of people. Highly recommended if you want to see Rome and experience a little country style living at the same time.
There were seven of us and we rented the "villa" farm house. The villa is very spacious, plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped; we cooked many dinners there. We walked to the supermarket; fresh vegetables, fresh pasta, fresh meat and seafood are all available. There is a reasonable choice of inexpensive (but pretty good) Italian wine. The bus to Rome was really easy to access and made excursions into the city were VERY convenient!
There is a restaurant close by that sent a car for us. Ottavio, our host, was very helpful in making all the arrangements. We had an engagement party there (our son proposed to his girlfriend during the trip, and she said YES) and we had a FEAST. Sylvia took good care of us at the restaurant, preparing a great menu, with champagne and wine! Wonderful restaurant, the only “complaint” was the size of the serving; we had way too much food!
Ottavio, was very kind and went out of his way for us. We had fresh eggs every morning, compliments of Ottavio and the “ladies” occupying the chicken coop a few hundred yards away from the house. We saw pheasants, porcupines, and other wildlife. Skipper, Ottovio’s canine companion, made himself at home and stayed with us every chance he got. We loved Skipper.
The pool was marvelous. It was fresh and very cool, perfect after a warm early July day in Rome. The farm house was not air conditioned, but the air did cool down in the evening and the fans in every room kept us quite comfortable during the daytime.
The villa is perfect for a group of friends or large families who would like to experience Rome as a "local". It’s not a luxury facility; don't expect a “Relais et Chateau” type experience. It was perfect for us to prepare great Italian meals and share wonderful memories with our family outside on the covered porch. Outside dining was the highlight of our trip! One meal lasted from 6:00PM to Midnight with lots of wonderful conversation.
The final kind gesture that was extended to us on our last day, blew us away. Two of us had to leave the property at 5:00AM to make a flight. A cab was arranged, but it never showed. Ottavio actually got out of bed and rushed them to airport in his own car!
It’s difficult to top the experience we had at the villa. We left Rome with many fond memories, but the best things were the stories that we shared, the music that was sung (we found a nice classical guitar at the villa), and all the laughs that echoed inside the villa’s walls!
In May my brother and his fiancé were married in Roma so the family, all fifteen of us, spent a magical week at the stunning Villa and Torretta. The property was pristine and the owner could not have been more kind and helpful, organising runs to the supermarket, hair and make up appointments, transport and restaurant reservations. It was the perfect space to relax and enjoy quality family time as well a being in a good location to take the bus into central Rome to see all it has to offer.
We all agreed we would return in a heart beat and have already recommended it to friends.
The tower was a fantastic place for a family holiday on the outskirts of Rome. We could use the very convenient bus to get directly to St. Peters in the city, or we could stay and play in the pool and explore the grounds, which were managed so as to promote wildlife. It was hard to know which to choose.
The children are still talking about the holiday; highlights for them were picking oranges and grapefruit for breakfast, and feeding the donkeys. Highlights for me were the smell of orange blossom, and finding porcupine spines. Rome was pretty good too.
The host was as helpful as possible, and nothing was too much trouble. The property was in good order, and the standard of furnishing and decor was tasteful but understated. I would highly recommend the tower, but you should be aware that as it is a tower the rooms are above each other so there are lots of steps to get to the main bedroom; it is near a big poor housing estate, so security has to be taken seriously; the bus journey into the centre takes quite a long time in busy traffic; the pool was cold in April. But if you want to spend the evening watching bats swooping around, and wake up to the sound of birdsong then half an hour later be in central Rome, it is a wonderful place.
We stayed in the Torretta and it was perfect for our 4 night stay in Rome with two children. The bus into the city is easy to get and the tower provided the perfect base. The children swam in the pool.
My family and I stayed four nights at the torretta de'Massimi and completely enjoyed our stay. This is definitely a unique lodging experience that we wholeheartedly recommend. Our entire family had a terrific time. The tower is historic and interesting, while clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and animal lovers will enjoy seeing the chickens, dogs and donkeys (Skippy is an especially sweet little dog). The view from the top of the tower is wonderful and since we stayed over New Year's eve, it was a terrific place to view the fireworks that seemed to go on for over an hour in all directions - what a memory! There is a lovely fireplace in the family room that we all enjoyed sitting around in the evenings - very relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The furnishings and surroundings are exactly as presented in the pictures. The city center is not difficult to reach by bus (a short walk to the bus stop) and there are two grocery stores nearby (one within walking distance, one better accessed by bus). But it is the owner that makes the experience so charming, he is so welcoming and kind that you feel completely at home. We highly recommend the torretta de'Massimi!
We spent a week at the Torretta de Massima. The estate is just amazing – beautiful tower, garden and surroundings. It is quiet and there is also a great swimming pool. The week was very hot and it was wonderful to go swimming after a sweaty visit to Rome. The tower is clean and well kept. The estate is outside Rome center but it is really easy to go Rome using a bus. It takes only about 25 minutes to reach the center of Rome. The owner of the estate is a very charming person who helped us in every way he could. We really recommend this estate when visiting at Rome.
