Elk Trail Cabin is the perfect balance between mountain retreat and comfortable luxury. A dramatic floor to ceiling stone fireplace is the perfect backdrop for the breathtaking views of Skyo Mountain from this new retreat.
It sits on two and a half acres perfect to sit back and watch the Elk wander in just after dark. Only 22 miles from White Pass ski area, 12 miles to the south entrance of Mt. Rainier, and a 45 minute drive to Mt. St. Helens. Packwood offers something for everyone. Alpine and crosscountry skiing, snowboading, sledding and snowmobiling during the winter months. Hiking, hunting, rafting and visiting the national parks during the summer. Packwood is nestled between Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams.
A fully equipped kitchen with upgraded stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops will make cooking a pleasure. Bring the kids and the dog, this in not your standard vacation rental, you will feel completely at home sleeping on the high thread count sheets or relaxing in the private hot tub. Photos speek a thousand words!
As general contractors and custom home builders we have paid special attention to every detail while building the Cabin. This property sits next to our vacation home 'Elk Trail Lodge' so of course we chose to call this cabin 'Elk Trail Cabin'. We are blessed to be able to share this amazing mountain retreat with special guests. It is truly a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends.
Carie Lawrence purchased this cabin in 2008
White Pass ski area doubled in size in 2011, it's a wonderful family ski area they also just added a second lodge at the top of the mountain. It has the best view of Mt Rainier in the state!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us. My family and I created
wonderful memories together there that we will always remember.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
We have stayed in a few other Packwood rentals and this certainly a keeper. Granite, tile, super clean, great decor, well-stocked kitchen - really well done. I was hesitant to book based on another reviewer's comment that it was 45 to White Pass but it's only 2 mlies out of Packwood, about 25 minutes with some slush. We drove daily to ski without a problem. Only minor thing I would clarify is that the king bedroom is technically a loft - the bed sits far back in the loft room, so there's no line of sight up from the living room (which is larger than photos appear), but noise can travel up if you're with a group. The best thing about this 'cabin' is the awesome view, huge yard and privacy. Will certainly re-book!
Elk Cabin was really nice get away for all of us. Carie and Mike were welcoming and felt really nice about it. Cabin was really cozy, clean place to live and was equipped with all the gadgets. It was just beautiful and I would like to thank both of the owners to share it with us.
My husband, kids and a few friends and I stayed there for a few days while skiing at White Pass. The pass was about a 45 min. drive (probably shorter in summer if roads are clear). House is in top condition and nicely decorated for a rustic cabin feel but with all the comforts of home. House has an outdoor hot tub with views of snowy peaks and trees. Owners tried hard to make us comfortable and welcome. We really enjoyed our stay and are thinking about returning during the summer months to explore hiking trails and to see Mt. St. Helens.
Awesome. Lovely setting.Vibe incredible as well. The views outstanding.Privacy- spectacular.
Might want to invest in HD TV and some matching bedroom end tables.
Lower level closet could use a light as well.
Thank you Carrie and Mike!
Our time at Elk Trail Cabin couldn't have been nicer! It is a beautiful property, well-maintained, clean, well-stocked, and with all the amenities one could want. The beds are very comfy, and the property welcoming, with many lovely touchs of home. The owners were very helpful and responsive.
The kids loved the spacious living room, as well as the huge front lawn, though their favorite part was Johnson Creek, where they spent some very happy hours, wading, digging, and collecting rocks. The 'cabin' is centrally located, making it easy to have fun day trips, and we happily made our way to Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, and to several local state parks for picnics and swimming. We stopped on our way back from one excursion to have dinner at the Mt. Rainier Railroad Dining Co.,a train that is now a restaurant, and enjoyed burgers and blackberry cobbler. Definitely stop there!
I wanted to see elk, but kept forgetting to look for them; however, the last day, we drove into Packwood for pizza, and found not only fabulous pizza, but an entire herd of elk just meandering through town! It was great, and a wonderful memory for us all! An added bonus, for astronomy buffs, is that the large deck is perfect for star-gazing. We were fortunate enough to be there on August 11th, which is the height of the Perseid meteor shower. It was a clear night, and we bundled the kids up and had a fantastic hour watching for meteors; no-one wanted to go to bed!
I would heartily recommend this property!!! (And since we didn't get around to trying out the hot tub, we'll definitely be back!)
I stayed here for three nights in August 2011 for a "girlfriend hiking get-away". The home was perfect! We hiked in the Goat Rocks area, and returned to wonderful meals in the gourmet kitchen and outdoor BBQ. We relaxed in the very comfy living room and deck talking and laughing into the wee hours!. We even "partook" in the hot tub! The furnishings were top notch, very comfortable beds, and the kitchen had everything needed. We experienced the herd of elk crossing in front of the home, meteor shower at night, and more. I am a little picky about the places I stay, and I can say without hesitation that I would definitely recommend this vacation home and will undoubtedly return...perhaps for skiing/snowboarding with the family! Thanks Carie for a very wonderful/memorable experience. My only hesitation in posting this review is that the home will get "found out" and might be difficult for me to book in the future!!!
