We are three senior couples who vacation in NYC frequently & tried an apt. as an alternative to the expensive cramped UWS hotels we have stayed at in the past. This apartment exceeded all our expectations. It is very clean, well maintained & roomy. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. A short walk will take you to the subway, Central Park, delis, and grocery stores. There is a pile of menus in the apt. for neighborhood restaurants (try the Saigon Grill for great Vietnamese food).
The master bedroom has its own bath. Guests using the second bedroom share the second bath off the kitchen with guests using the pull-out studio bed in the living room. This layout gives those using the living room bed quite a bit of privacy (which was a concern of ours). The kitchen is well equipped and there is a roof patio off the livingroom thats perfect for an evening glass of wine.
The owners are friendly, helpful and great communicators. We are hoping to stay here again and highly recommend this apartment for your next visit to the Big Apple.
There are a lot of positive aspects of the apartment. Great location, close to shops and transport and in a nice neighbourhood. Enough room, well equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms (which is important when travelling with 3 daughters).
However, there are a few things that could be done to make this a great apartment and not just a good one. Firstly, more attention to cleanliness could be made. Other apartments we stayed in did not have dust in the corners, under tables and chairs. We also found that a sheet had been left on the fold out sofa, which was used as it was covered in hairs. There were also items shoved on top of the fridge and it was dusty as well.
Secondly, a bit more organisation of the cupboards would be appreciated by future tenants. Things are just shoved in - and you need to fish out items like a doona for the fold out bed.
Thirdly, the arrival process can be improved as I needed to make multiple contacts to gain access to the apartment - on international rates.
All in all the apartment met our needs, gave us a good location, comfortable beds and a place base our New York adventures from.
Stayed with my family for 2 weeks in August. Loved the location. Very safe and comfortable neighborhood with lots of everything around. Easy access to bus, subways grocery stores, ect. The apt is on the 6th floor and when the elevator works it is great. The list of rules for the apt is the first thing you are introduced to. The bathrooms have to be squeegeed after every shower OR YOUR DEPOSIT IS IN JEOPARDY. THE TOWELS NEED TO BE HUNG OVER THE SHOWER OR YOUR DEPOSIT IS IN JEOPARDY. NO LOUD NOISES OR YOUR DEPOSIT IS IN JEOPARDY OF NOT BEING RETURNED. The place was not the cleanest. I removed large dust bunnies from the floor and I see they have a new rug for a reason. WE CLEANED IT THOROUGHLY BEFORE WE LEFT OR OUR DEPOSIT WAS IN JEOPARDY. It is not comfortable for any number over 4 people because what you see is the seating and the one TV is it. Look at the picture if you try to have some one sleep on the couch or a provided air mattress that little space is the only available space. and the TV is so small. So Maybe you have better things to do than watch TV but if you want to relax in the morning before going out if you are not in the 2 bedrooms you are not sleeping . You can not mingle in the living room it is too small. The air conditioner is a small room air on the floor window in the living room . Trying to adjust it is a feat since the room is so small. I would recommend this place for 2 couples max. One more thing, after you pay your rent you will never hear from the manager again . No phone no email and no contact. It took a long time to get our deposit back as well. So this is a very fair evaluation. The rule book small space and elevator are just some of the reasons I did not give it 5 STARS.
We took quite a bit of time trying to decide where to stay in New York. I researched different areas and I am delighted that we settled on an apartment in the Upper Westside. The apartment we stayed in was next to the one advertised here, but our apartment is not advertised on homeaway at the moment so I am putting the review here as I imagine that both the apartments are very similar.
Our apartment was clean, spacious, and airy. Everything worked. It was well equipped. It was easy enough to get down to midtown etc but was a great place to retreat to after a day in New York. It was super staying where real New Yorkers lived. We felt completely safe and comfortable in the area. Lots of great restaurants and shops. My son was preparing for a half marathon so most mornings he would get up early and go for a run in Central Park (only five minutes walk away). The balconies were great for all of us to relax on too.
We could still get to all of Manhattan from the apartment...Greenwich village, Tribeca, Staton Island Ferry, fifth ave, midtown, wall street etc we also went to Flushing Meadow and New York Yankees match with no transport problems at all.
Later in the holiday we returned to New York and stayed midtown in a smartish hotel for a couple of nights. It wasn't half as nice as our apartment. I would have had a completely different opinion (and not such a good one) of New York if we had stayed downtown for the whole trip. To explain to other Brits, it would have been like being squashed into a mediocre hotel near Piccadilly/Leicester Square for a week rather than staying in a top floor spacious apartment with balconies in South Kensington. No comparison.
So our apartment is highly recommended. Wish I was still there!
The apartment was gorgeous and in a great location, close to everything we needed like Central Park, subways, restaurants, and shops. The Great Places team made the rental process very easy and worry free. The apartment was clean and spacious, and exactly as depicted in the pictures. We couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. We would love to stay in this apartment on our next visit to New York.
The title pretty much sums it up!! I can't say enough good things about this apartment! Although, I was a little hesitant about renting an apartment in NYC, only because I wasn't sure if what i was seeing in the pictures would be what I would actually get (you just never know these days). But, I'm so happy I did! It was great!! Much more room than a hotel and for about the same price! It looks exactly like the pictures and was VERY clean and comfy!! We were a party of 4 adults, had plenty of room and we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The 2 full bathrooms were a major plus!! There's an elevator in the building, it's close to the subway and the neighborhood is quiet and the people were very friendly. We walked down a few blocks and had breakfast 2 mornings at Cafe Eighty Two. Great food and service! We also had pizza at Corner Cafe, also a great place to eat! It was just a block or so from the apartment. I definitely recommend getting an unlimited metro card and using the subway. We loved it! There's a subway just 2 blocks from the apartment. We also did the double decker bus tour, it was GREAT!! We will do this again on our next trip! Tricia and her team were great to work with! Gabriela was at the apartment with the keys when we arrived and she was great!! I can't say anything bad about this experience! We will definitely rent this place again!!
Located on a quiet and super clean block - West 92 Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. A Church on the corner, Central Park is at the end of the street, one block away. Area is New York City's best neighborhood known for top quality of life, families and high-income professionals. Excellent shopping and restaurants as well as Museums, Movie theaters and parks. Number of different Subway lines are just two blocks away - 1, 2, 3, B and C trains. Express subway (2 and 3) are just two stops from TImes Square and only four stops to Greenwich Village!! If you are looking for a quiet and safe yet easily accessible location in Manhattan, It is hard to imagine a better one than this!!
