Great apartment in a great location!!!

A great clean and light apartment in a small block - lots of street noise but thats to be expected in bustling midtown area and hey you cant come to NYC and expect it to be quiet!
We found the apartment to be a great base for our busy NYC trip - everything was close by - restaurant row on 9th ave with some great choices, lots of shops nearby too - Amy's bread shop (yummmy!!!), STarbucks across the street, lots of pharmacies and convenience stores nearby, laundry etc
the subway within easy reach in both directions and the lights & action of Times Square and Broadway a short stroll away!
Carlos was very friendly and helpful and it was our first experience in using homeaway and renting an apt but it was a great experience so will definetely recommend it! maybe some new fluffy towels would be nice for the apt and maybe a curtain for the window in the bedroom but apart from that it was a perfect home away from home!

This apartment was ideally placed for sightseeing and experiencing the hustle and bustle of New York. The local bakers ,restaurants and deli's were good. we managed to get theatre tickets in Times Square too.It was ,however, very noisy and we found it difficult to sleep in the living room, due to traffic noise. We were visiting with 2 teenagers and the sofa bed was too small to accomodate two people, we took it in turns to sleep on duvets on the floor! The bedroom was comfortable and storage space good, but would benefit from a curtain/blind at the window as it was very light at night. The decor in the apartment could do with some" freshening up" .The air conditioning was welcome as it reached 97deg.during our visit.Despite the lack of sleep we had a great time and would visit" The Big Apple again"

Perfect Location

Kim1000 Portland, Oregon
Review Submitted: December 17, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
This was an absolutely perfect "in the middle of it all" location for my family for the Thanksgiving weekend. Right in the heart of theaters, 1 1/2 long blocks to TKTS outlet and close to easy upper westside/downtown subway and bus connections. Easy walk to everything in midtown and felt completely safe with our 10 year-old in tow. Carlos was very accommodating and helpful. The major downside was radiator making the pounding noise that so many radiators do in the middle of the night and couldn't be turned down so windows had to be opened to keep a tolerable temperature. For this reason, the street noise in the front room was pretty distracting at night (in addition to the radiator). These plus satin sheets constantly slipping off the fold down bed and no way to shut out the street light made the front room not very good for sleeping. That said, the kitchen was GREAT (we cooked a somewhat abbreviated Thanksgiving dinner there). The bedroom has a door opening onto a balcony which made it all feel quite expansive for the size. I give this a 5 for two guests (sleeping in the bedroom at the back) and a 4 if more than two are staying here given the difficult sleeping conditions in the front room. Lots of nearby restaurants (though we never got to any of them), Starbucks across the street and groceries within a couple of blocks. Our primary destinations in 4 days were two theatres, TKTS box office, Natural History Museum, Rockefeller Center, MOMA, Chelsea and ground zero. Great bus connection to/from Newark Airport via the Port Authority Terminal just a short walk away. We were not looking to shop, so do not know how convenient this apartment would have been for that. I would recommend this for someone that wants to be in the center of activity, but not someone looking for a quiet residential street. Very clean, great HOT shower, pretty comfortable bed, wifi worked great. We love NYC!!!! Thank you Carlos!

Hell's Kitchen Gem!

NYCJackie Birmingham, England
Review Submitted: November 17, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
We stayed at this fab apartment as a change from the usual upscale hotels we would normally use for our annual trip to NYC. Very glad we did!! The location is excellent - right in the fringe of Hell's Kitchen and around the corner from the huge range of friendly bars and resturants that the kitchen is famous for!!! Not only that but a 5 minute walk from the lights of Times Square - turn right out of the apartment and walk across 2 blocks and your smack bang in the middle of it all!!!! It's true what they say - location, location, location!!! The apartment itself is charming, exceptionally clean and well maintained with more than adequate creature comforts to make your stay a joy!! The apartment owner Carlos was lovely and responded to our request for extra towels, iron and ironing board really quickly. West 47th is very busy so be prepared for street noise - however, this is one of the things we love about NYC. The neighbourhood is great and we'd definitely rent again. We travel to NYC at least once a year and will probably give the hotels a miss from now on - apartment renting is definitley the way forward for us! Grab yourself a slice of the Big Apple and rent this little gem !!!!!
