This lovely house offers a unique setting, right on Mill Pond and Flower Brook falls. It has a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and comfortable furnishings throughout. The interior is sunny and bright. The cozy den is a wonderful spot to view the changing seasons in southern Vermont. We think you'll be as charmed as we were by this location. No one would ever suspect that this cottage is over 200 years old and that it once served as a shed for horse drawn buggies, or that a decisive battle of the Revolutionary War was fought at the millpond.
This region encompasses most of southwestern Vermont, including the historic towns of Manchester and Bennington. With both outdoor and cultural opportunities, there is something to satisfy everyone here, from shopping in the Manchester outlet stores and small local stores, to visiting nearby ski resorts such as Bromley, Stratton, Magic Mountain and Mount Snow. Hildene, the Robert Todd Lincoln family home, is located in Manchester and open to the public year-round.
Covered bridges are prevalent in the area, making for beautiful bike tours in the summer or autumn. Both the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail traverse the area, and the Battenkill River -- home of world-famous trout fishing -- flows to the south. Manchester is also home to the Equinox Resort and Spa and Riley Rink, which has an Olympic size indoor skating rink in winter and hosts concerts in the summer. Lake St. Catherine is an 883-acre lake located in the towns of Wells and Poultney, surrounded by towns with rolling farmland. The lakeshore includes Lake St. Catherine State Park with beaches for swimming and rental boats for fishing or relaxing.
