Tahoe Donner Vacation Rental house

My family and a few relatives were fortunate to rent this home Dec. 28-30, 2008 as part of a holiday snow visit. We were a diverse group (middle-aged parents with children from pre-school through high school) looking for a convenient location (access to sledding, walking and ski resorts if we decided to go that route), cozy surroundings and a reliable home that would be comfortable. This home more than met our hopes and expectation. At the outset, it's key to note that Holly and Matt, the owners, are wonderful individuals and go way out of their way to provide a real home experience for people. Holly takes care of the communications (she's incredibly responsive), and Matt is a contractor and craftsperson dedicated to caring for the home. (I met Matt at check-out -- he's really a neat person.) Their care shows: the cabin appears to have been recently remodeled (granite countertops and beautiful tilework, for example; new furnishings; warm and comfortable beds, sheets and linens), and the fixtures and attention to details are terrific.

The cabin itself is located at the quiet end of a cul-de-sac within a few minutes of the entrance to Tahoe Donner -- very convenient to skiing/sledding at the resort, Truckee for shopping, and 80 for access to other resorts. The home heats quickly with a thermostat-control gas log fireplace (very neat) -- we were always comfortable even when outside temps were in the 20s. The home is very neat and is stocked with games and goodies to keep folks happily occupied even if you're home-bound.

This is a terrific value in a convenient location with caring and hard-working owners -- you can't ask for anything more. Our family used to own property at Northstar, and I can tell you from personal experience maintenance at Tahoe homes isn't easy, and this is as nice a situation as you'll find in a rental. One favor: Please tread gently and take great care of the home because we hope to return over the coming years!! :-)
