Shannon Point Lodge is located at Sandy Point, VA, in the heart of Virginia’s historic Northern Neck, approximately 2 hours from Washington, DC and 1.5 hours from Richmond, VA. It rests on the banks of the Shannon Branch of the Yeocomico River, near Kinsale on a private waterfront point. It was initially built in 1932 as a fishing cottage and was fully renovated in 2008.

The Lodge is now a 2400 square foot single-story house with an open floor plan that includes beautiful panoramic views of the water. Open layout is also wheel chair friendly. Newly added 12 x 24 waterfront deck with handicap ramp.

The house easily sleeps 10-12 with 4 bedrooms(2 bedrooms on each wing) and a sleeper sofa, 2 full bathrooms, central air and heat, cable TV, a fully equipped kitchen, “Rivah” room with a gorgeous waterfront view, washer-dryer, and a large waterside porch.

Bring your boat and jet skis. There is a pier with 2 boat slips (3.5 – 4 ft MLW) at the property for your use and enjoyment. There is also great fishing and crabbing from the pier. Sandy Point Marina with boat launching facilities and gasoline is located within one mile of the property.

In addition to Summer water and outdoor activities, don’t miss Fall rockfish and hunting seasons.

Had a reunion of sorts,girls weekend with friends dating back to kindergarten. We made our way to the cottage from upstate NY, Raleigh NC, Washington DC and Richmond, VA. Not knowing what to expect, we were all pleasantly surprised. The Owner was most accommodating - providing firewood, awning on back deck and even some added handicapped accessories for the convenice of a wheelchair bound visitor. Couldn't say enough about the Owner and his need to make sure we were accommodated. The cottage is very comfortable and homey. It is well appointed. Even the gray skyes did not prevent us from having a great time.

We rented this home to vacation and be close to family and friends in the Northern Neck of Virginia.
The owners and home met all of our expectations. We got to visit with our nearby relatives and enjoy some outdoor activities, as well as quality relaxin time. I would recommend this property to anyone who enjoys the peace and tranquility of outdoors.

Had a wonderful time. The place was big enough to stay out of each others way, and may I add also decorated accordingly. Very private area and all the toys and gadgets you would need. Can't wait to go back next year, and Bill is a super nice person.

Relaxing home away from home

We loved this beautifully decorated house and felt very pampered. The landlords were attentive hosts. Ask them the best place to get fresh crabs!!! We enjoyed watching the wildlife wake up every morning from the deck. The kids (young and old) fished on the dock the entire week (though it was too early to catch anything!) with the life jackets provided by the landlords. Kayaking with the older kids was great. Would highly recommend this lovely rental.

Wonderful/Relaxing

If you enjoy peace and quiet as well as a comfortable and relaxing home, SPL fits the bill. The kitchen is fully equipped for all you cooks out there as well as conveniently arranged. Our host, Bill, was attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the kayaks supplied and brought our bikes and absolutely loved biking the country roads. We will definitely return to this charming house to enjoy the beautiful area.
