Enjoy the serene view of ancient Hawaiian fish ponds backed by the ocean at our Lagoon House 2 vacation home at Kapoho Beach. It features a private warm pond - highly prized by Hawaiians - that is fed by underground springs heated by the volcano. The pond's crystal-clear water is home to many colorful reef fish and is deep enough for snorkeling even at low tide. Enjoy views of the ocean and adjoining fish ponds. Ocean swimming is only 100 yards from Lagoon 2. Other swimming and snorkeling spots are very close by. There is virtually no traffic at Kapoho Beach, affording a safe, relaxing atmosphere. Kapoho Beach Lots is about a one-half hour drive from lava viewing. This is a very special area with a great climate. It is one of the few unspoiled areas left in Hawaii. For those that need to stay connected, Lagoon II features a high-speed DSL modem.

Pahoa, about 9 miles from Kapoho, offers plenty of options for groceries, supplies and fun shopping. Several markets, including a top-notch natural foods market and a 24 hour convenience store, a fish market, a farmer’s market, half-a-dozen good restaurants (two of which are *very* good), a live music club, video store, and an ever-changing array of colorful and offbeat shops selling hand-crafted souvenirs, tropical plants and flowers, original art and island apparel can be found in this bohemian village center. Hilo, county seat and the island’s largest city, is about 20 miles from Pahoa. A bastion of Hawaiian history and culture, Hilo is home to museums, botanical gardens and cultural centers. Each April Hilo hosts the Merrie Monarch Festival; often called the “Olympics of Hula.” Hilo also offers supermarkets and shops, golf courses, state of the art movie theaters, many fine restaurants and a laid back Aloha atmosphere that is treasured by locals and visitors alike.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: A major attraction in the area is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii’s only World Heritage Site. It contains two of the most active volcanoes in the world, Mauna Loa and Kilauea, both of which tower over the Pacific. Volcanic eruptions have created a constantly changing landscape, and the lava flows reveal surprising geological formations. Rare birds and endemic species can be found there, as well as forests of giant ferns.

Liquid Assets: There are many places to swim and snorkel in the area (in addition to your private warm pond in the back yard)! Beautiful Kapoho Bay is right around the corner. The famous Champagne Pond, a sea turtle hangout, is a leisurely 5 minute stroll. The awesome Wai Opae tidepools, Ahalanui warm pond State Park and Kehena black sand beach are all a short drive.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lagoon
House 2! It is beautifully furnished, and well
equipped. It made spending a week here very
pleasant.
We loved the snorkelling at Vacationland Tide pools
- there were so many fish, and beautiful coral, and
turtles....
This was a fabulous family vacation for our two
daughters (8 and 11 years old). They loved feeding
the fish in the lagoon pool out front, and the
protected swimming and snorkelling that is so
easily accessible at Vacationland, and Champagne
Cove. Many days we were the only ones in the
pools.
This is truly paradise.

Our stay in Lagoon House 2 in July 2007 was FABULOUS! We really fell in love with the location and especially the pond. It was stocked with tons of fish, was warm and the water was clean. We didn't want to leave.

There were 6 of us, which was a bit tight, but the house was comfortable and it really felt like home. We recommend it highly.

We loved our stay at the Lagoon House 2. The ponds were fabulous and I learned to snorkel! Weather could have been better in February, but we're used to rain. Very well equipped and comfortable getaway.
