This beautiful log and stone cabin has an amazing history. It was once located on the Smith River,200 miles from Georgetown Lake. In 1997 a fifteen foot tall ice jam lifted it from its original foundation and slid it approximately one mile downstream. - - - intact! The cabin was rescued from this precarious perch, disassembled log by log, moved to Georgetown and rebuilt. A picture album tells the story.
Located just eighteen miles west of Anaconda and twenty miles south of Phillipsburg. This cabin is located on the world acclaimed Pintlar Scenic Route. Blue ribbon fishing, great hunting and hiking are at your doorstep. Discovery Basin provides awesome skiing and is only ten minutes away.
Anaconda is an historic town boasting a 535 foot tall smoke stack from its glory days when copper was king. The Washoe theater and Washoe park are must see attractions. The Old Works, a Jack Nicholas designed golf course, has won national awards for its beauty and unique character. (Black sand traps with slag from the smelter.) Barclays supper club has the best steaks west of the Mississippi and outstanding service!
Phillipsburg (22 miles away) is a refurbished mining town with the oldest operating opera house in Montana. (summers only) Granite Ghost Town has been magnificently preserved and maintained. Hunt for your own sapphires in and near "P-burg." Dinner at the Silver Mill is always a treat, before or after the theater.
Close to the cabin (one mile) is the Seven Gables Resort and Casino. A stop at the "Gabes" will provide a real taste of the local flavor, including food, drink and music. The Brown Derby restaurant (3 miles) also has good food if you are interested in eating out for a change of pace.

Sleeps 6 to 12 maximum in beds. All linens and towels provided. 2 baths; upper has large shower, lower has full tub and shower. Main floor great room. Antler chandelier under vaulted cedar ceiling. Eating bar with beautiful view of Georgetown lake. Large upper deck fully furnished with gas barbecue, deck heaters, eating bar with umbrella overlooking lake.
