Georgetown Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This beautiful log and stone cabin has an amazing history. It was once located on the Smith River,200 miles from Georgetown Lake. In 1997 a fifteen foot tall ice jam lifted it from its original foundation and slid it approximately one mile downstream. - - - intact! The cabin was rescued from this precarious perch, disassembled log by log, moved to Georgetown and rebuilt. A picture album tells the story.

Located just eighteen miles west of Anaconda and twenty miles south of Philipsburg. This cabin is located on the world acclaimed Pintlar Scenic Route. Blue ribbon fishing, great hunting and hiking are at your doorstep. Discovery Basin provides awesome skiing and is only ten minutes away.

Anaconda is an historic town boasting a 535 foot tall smoke stack from its glory days when copper was king. The Washoe theater and Washoe park are must see attractions. The Old Works, a Jack Nicholas designed golf course, has won national awards for its beauty and unique character. (Black sand traps with slag from the smelter.) Hunt for your own sapphires in and near 'P-burg.' Dinner at the Silver Mill is always a treat, before or after the theater.

Close to the cabin (one mile) is the Seven Gables Resort and Casino. A stop at the 'Gabes' will provide a real taste of the local flavor, including food, drink and music. The Brown Derby restaurant (3 miles) also has good food if you are interested in eating out for a change of pace.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

My family had an awesome time at this cabin. It is impeccably clean and cozy, making for the most relaxing weekend. There was absolutely no evidence of mice, as the one reviewer mentioned. No complaints here! The view from the living room, kitchen, and porch is amazing. The location is perfect and minutes away from so many adventures. Loved it and we will certainly be back!

We had an awesome stay at your cabin. It was clean and very comfortable. We loved the views from the deck. The fire pit was fantastic. Thanks for having all the kitchen amenities we could ask for! The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were great.

Summer vacation

  • 3 of 5

We had an amazing time fishing, hiking, mining sapphires, and spending our evenings sitting on the porch watching the sun set over Georgetown Lake. I think the view in this cabin is worth the cost of the rental alone. Beautiful.

I am not one to complain, as the price of your cabin was great and we had a lot of fun. However, I just wanted you to know a few problems we had. It was listed as sleeping up to 12, and we did have 12 people. The overview lists "2 bedrooms, one king, one queen bed. 2 double futons, queen size inflatable bed. One king bed and one twin in lower level backroom. Sleeps 6 to 12 maximum in beds." Actually, the cabin really only sleeps the max 6 people. There were 3 bedrooms, two with king beds and one with a full size bed, and then just a twin top mattress on the floor and a futon mattress on the floor. No air mattress and no other futon. This maybe would have been okay except for this is a country cabin with mice that run around at night. None of our children wanted to sleep on the floor with mice, so that left 3 beds for 12 people. If we had knows that, we would not have rented the place.

On the same note, there is no place to store food. We brought food for 12 people for one week and the refrigerator and freezer is full of the owners food and there is no place to store unrefrigerated food. You do not want to leave laying around due to mice. So do come prepared with cooler and air tight containers to put food in.

Overall, if the place was listed as a max 6 and there was storage for food in refrigerator, I would have given this place a 4-5 star for location and view.

Owner's Response: This renter was the most difficult renter we have ever had. We have rented for five years and have never had a negative comment. Prior to arrival she called many many times which required a tremendous of hand holding. In retrospect she was going to find a problem , real or imagined. In five years no one has ever complained about a mouse. We have a professional cleaner come in on a regular basis. The cabin is immaculate. The renter could never be satisfied. Her comment borders on libel.

Excellent family winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six had a wonderful stay over a very cold, snowy weekend in February. The cabin was very comfortable, warm, and inviting. Big family room TV was a great place to watch the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. The handyman was there early Sunday to plow the driveway of fresh snow. Kitchen was very well stocked - one of the best I've seen. Beds were cozy. Plan to return again next winter, or maybe in the fall.
