Wonderful, spectacular log cabin in the pines. The perfect get-away. Your family and friends will always remember your time in this cabin at the base of the Mogollon Rim. Located on Tonto Creek in the heart of the popular Tonto Creek Recreation Area, Tonto Fish Hatchery and the seasonal Catch-A-Trout. People come from all over to enjoy the creek, tall pines, beautiful weather and the breathtaking views. Enjoy all this in the comfort of a beautiful log cabin equipped with central air/heating, modern gas appliances, granite counter tops, walk-in tile rain showers, jetted tub, washer and dryer, fireplace, private creek access and satellite TV. This cabin is less than 2 hours from Phoenix and a 15 minute drive from Payson. Just down the road is the area where the world famous western novelist, Zane Grey lived and created many of his famous writings. Bring your family and friends for an unforgettable get-away offering fishing, hiking, mountain biking or just plain relaxing. Peace at last...

There are lots of things to do!: You can also visit the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery. This is where the Forest Rangers breed and grow trout that stock the lakes of Arizona. Here you can see and feed the huge trout in the trophy pond and watch thousands of small trout swim around in the growing tanks. The one acre property has private creek access where you can fish, read a book or just relax and listen to the soothing flow of water. In 5 minutes you can be at Kohl’s ranch eating steak, in 10 minutes you can be in Christopher Creek eating and sightseeing, and in 20 minutes you can reach the top of the rim enjoying the view and fishing at the popular Woods Canyon Lake. Also near the cabin is the popular Highline Trail Head. This trail provides unlimited hiking along Horton Creek and through the tall pines. In the summer and early fall, you can go next door to Rancho Tonto Catch a Trout, a fish pond where you are guaranteed to catch a trout.

YOU CANNOT GO WRONG!!

My husband and I stayed at the cabin for 3 nights with our friends and their 2 kids. It was PERFECT!! Everything truly exceeded our expectations, and we had an absolutely amazing time!! The owner of the cabin was so easy to deal with -- incredibly helpful and kind -- and clearly so concerned that we enjoyed our stay. We did!! I would recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone. The pictures of the cabin are completely accurate. I can only say that our stay exceeded our expectations. We will definitely go back. You cannot hope for a better owner to rent from, or a better cabin or location to vacation in!!

Nice house but probably not worth the price

This is a very nice house, however, it was not worth the rental price and we will not stay here again.

PROS: Lovely house, comfortable beds, very clean, great location on the creek.

CONS: We accidentally made a wrong turn and ended up at the neighbor's house. Neighbor was very rude and threatening, saying the owner is not supposed to rent this house out bc its against HOA rule.He said "someone will be knocking on your door tonight." Rather unsettling and scary way to begin the weekend.

Wifi did not work the whole weekend.

When we walked out to grill our steaks we discovered the tank for gas grill was empty. If I pay that much for a rental, I expect to have gas to cook on the grill. Its 20 minutes back to Payson so there was no grilling that night.

According to rental agreement, if you do not do any damage you will receive your security deposit within 5 days. It took almost three weeks for us to receive our deposit back even though we cause absolutely no damage to the property.

Overall, it could have been a really nice weekend if the owner had taken the time to check details like making sure the gas was full on the grill and that the wifi was operational. If he would have returned our deposit in a more timely manner and was better at communicating it would have made things much easier. Its a nice house and nice setting but was not as nice of a weekend as it could have been.

what a wonderful winter escape. I rented this cabin so that I could meet with a realtor in regards to purchasing a home upon our retirement in the next 12-18 months. Well, we got snowed in...but no matter. It was wonderful. I had purchased birdseed in Mesa before our arrival and so glad I did, as we had many species of birds visiting. The cabin had just about everything one would need to sustain in the event of being "snowed in". I loved it so much, I just may be back in January, 2014.

Fantastic Cabin

We loved staying here! It was super clean, and had everything we needed. The area is beautiful and the cabin is secluded enough to feel like you're the only one around. Our 3 year old LOVED the jungle gym outside! That was a big plus for us (as was the pizza oven). The owner is helpful and easy to work with. We'll be back!
