Blue Bayou is our home away from home, and can be yours too. The spectacular ocean views are best enjoyed from the 3rd floor deck overlooking a lawn for the kids to play on. A panoramic view up and down the beach stretches in front of you.
Beach access is less than a 2 minute walk. Beach access is a new walkway provided by the town with a seating area just before you descend the few steps to the beach. No pass is needed. From sunrise to sunset, the ocean breeze will soothe your stress and help provide a relaxing vacation for the whole family. Depending on the season you might see shrimp boats anchored off the coast, pods of dolphins at play, or pelicans diving for fish.
Take the kids down to the beach after sundown with flashlights to search for the elusive "ghost crabs" or get up early and hunt for shells.
Bike riding on Emerald Isle's safe private streets is a great way to see the island's beautiful homes, before you enjoy fresh seafood at home or in one of the many island restaurants.

My husband and I love to travel with our two daughters. Our youngest has been going to the beach since she was 3 months old. We have many fond memories of family reunions, birthdays and holidays spent at the beach. It is truly our second home.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
Our family has been vacationing on Emerald Isle for over 25 years. It was always our dream to buy a home at the beach. We loved the location of our property - just across the street from the beach access walkway. When we purchased we did a complete renovation, with new carpet and tile, all new furnishings, beds and mattresses and outdoor furniture. Our kitchen is stocked to the max (I love to cook) so if you decide to cook you can. Emerald Isle has some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast and it is a plus that the town is so environmentally friendly and devoted to preserving the beaches for future generations.
We love sitting on the deck and watching the shrimp boats and pelicans. It isn't a trip to the beach without getting some shrimp at Captain Willis or feeding the turtles in town at Emerald Plaza. Our family also loves going to Beauford, visiting the NC Aquarium and just looking for seashells on the beach. Our house is so big that someone can be watching the big screen TV while someone else is reading or napping. We also love to have family dinners at the big dining room table. I enjoy soaking in the tub at night and listening to the waves.
Thanks for making it a wonderful vacation. Great to relax on the deck overlooking the ocean.
This is our second trip and we will book again. The TV was awesome for watching the games.
We have been going to Emerald Isle for about 8 years now, and have always enjoyed the beautiful and uncrowded beaches. This house has wonderful accommodations for a large group, which consisted of 6 adults and 2 teenagers. With the three stories, there is plenty of privacy if you want it, or everyone can be in the large open concept living area. Lots of room for the three cooks, and we could watch the large screen TV while in the kitchen area. We enjoyed evenings on the top deck, almost as much as we enjoyed looking out in the morning to see the ocean waves. The lower deck is a great spot for relaxing and reading during the day.
The walk to the beach is not much longer than if you had accommodations on the beach. The new walkway is directly across the small beach road, and it is easy to get all of the beach essentials there and back. For the significant difference in price, this is an excellent bargain.
We always make a trip to Captain Willis for some delicious shrimp, and usually plan a trip to either Beaufort or the Aquarium during our stay.
Unfortunately, this year all was cut short because of Hurricane Irene. The owner phoned me during the week and advised where we could find hurricane information online (there is computer access in the home). She was concerned with our safety, which was much appreciated. We did get the news of a mandatory evacuation on Thursday afternoon and had to hurriedly pack and get off the island within a few hours. We hated to leave, as we still had more relaxing days on the beach to go and more great meals to cook, but that is the chance you take when going to the beach.
The owner did contact me via email and said that she would refund the days that we missed at the beach. It is nice to deal with an actual person rather than an automated voicemail, and I think that is a distinct advantage of booking this property.
Fortunately, Emerald Isle appears to have come through without any horrible damage, and hopefully will be there for many more years for all of us to enjoy.
Great place for some R&R! We were close enough to grocery/souvenir shopping, but far enough away for some great privacy. The beaches were very well maintained and clean and the access was just across a very quiet street. The home was great with a nice sun deck were we saw dolphins every day.
We rented bikes from a great bike place right across the street from the Food Lion grocery store. They were very helpful and had very nice bikes. We visited the peer (no charge for sightseeing) just up the road and had some great ice cream at a shop that had great multi-colored rocking chairs on the porch. (close to the peer) were we sat with the grandchildren and relaxed and enjoyed our ice cream.
This home is about a 30 min. drive from Camp Lejeune were we welcomed our son home from Afghanistan. It was worth the drive for the nice area.
We had 7 adults and 3 small children. The little ones were old enough to navigate the stairs that are carpeted. A washer/dryer on the floor with the bedrooms was great.
All in all this is a great place. We had a wonderful time and would return again!
The owner was very helpful and very accommodating.
