Stoupa House Rental Photos and Description

The house was lovingly renovated in 1998, and furnished in the local style. It has 60m2 of space, a large sun terrace, garden and much free land. Solid stone walls and the traditional Kalamia roofing assure a comfortable atmosphere, even during extreme temperature changes.

Local history: In antique times the name of Lefktron was Leuktron, and it belonged to Lakonia (Sparta). According to Strabon (Pausanias III 26,4) the settlement was a colony of the Boeotian Leuktra which had been claimed for ages by the Messenians. Today Stoupa-Lefktron belongs to Messenia and the so called outer Mani. Until recently the whole Mani remained fairly inaccessible. For this reason and due to its impressive landscape it still is an extremely inspirational environment for artists. E.g.: the Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis wrote his novel “Alexis Zorbas” in Stoupa.

Scenic sites in the vicinity: Fishing village of Agios Nikolaos (4 km); Maniotic mountain villages of Pigí, Pirgos and Saidona (3-8 km); ancient village of Kardamili (5 km); Kambos gorge near Kentro (23 km); Ytilon bay and the historic village of Limeni (32 km); stalactite caverns of Pirgos Dirou (50 km); historic family fortresses and towers of Kitta and Vathia (75 km); ancient Messene at Mount Ithome (65 km); Nestor’s Palace close to Pilos (87 km).

Swimming, eating and drinking: Stoupa has two beautiful sandy beaches which are safe for children and can be reached in a 10 to 15 minute walk from house Horiodaki; moreover there are several pebble beaches with crystal clear water nearby.

In Stoupa and its neighboring villages of Kardamili and Aghios Nikolaos you will find numerous restaurants, taverns and cafés as well as several groceries. “Essentials” are also offered by a bakery located at the access road to Lefktron (distance from house 17 Lamda appr. 700 m).

Besucher aus Frankreich: ... Wir haben uns in Ihrem Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Alles war so, wie wir gehofft hatten, und wir haben einen wunderschönen Urlaub verbracht, den wir in sehr guter Erinnerung behalten werden. Die landschaftliche Schönheit der Umgebung, die ruhige Lage des Hauses und die angenehme Einrichtung ohne Firlefanz und 'Chichi' haben sehr dazu beigetragen, uns zu 'entstressen' und wirklich abzuschalten. Wir waren nun schon zum dritten Mal im Haus Horiodaki und haben es wieder sehr genossen. Das Haus ist mit viel Liebe eingerichtet und sehr gepflegt, und es fehlt an nichts, auch nicht in der Küche. Großartig ist der Panoramablick von der großen Terrasse auf das Meer im Westen und die Berge im Süden.
Für Familien mit Kindern ist das Haus ideal, auch wegen des großen Gartens und der Pfade rund um das alte Dorf Lefktron, auf denen es viel zu entdecken gibt. Unsere Kinder vermissen außerdem sehr Pipa, die einäugige Hauskatze.

Wir waren angenehm überrascht, auch noch in dieser vorgerückten Jahreszeit bei sommerlichen Temperaturen eine keineswegs vertrocknete Landschaft genießen zu können. Für uns Wanderfreunde erwies sich die direkte Umgebung als ideal. Auch das Baden und Schnorcheln in der Bucht von Kalogria hat uns bei den angenehmen Wassertemperaturen gut getan.

Der herrliche Ausblick von Ihrer Terrasse auf Garten, Küste, Meer und Berghänge war sozusagen die halbe Miete. Wir haben uns im Haus sehr wohl gefühlt und nichts vermisst.

Vielleicht werden wir das nächste Jahr die Frühsaison ausprobieren. Bis
