Overview

Pine Mountain Club House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Located in Pine Mountain Club CA, this newly refurbished three bedroom, one and a half bath home provides an ideal retreat from the relentless pace of the big city.

Only an hour and a half north of LA, people find it hard to believe that they're even in Southern California. We're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other.

We're located walking close, down a charming path, to the quaint PMC Village Center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and video rentals, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150' gravel driveway, with a 'green belt' on three sides.

Nestled in a grove of amazing 60' tall oak trees, it's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain., or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It's common to see deer grazing just below the deck.

Built in 1974, our cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70's color scheme. Don't let that fool you though; with broadband wireless internet, 42' plasma high-definition cable TV and free local and (domestic) long distance phone calls, we are fully up to date with 21st Century technology.

This area is most popular for its proximity to Mt. Pinos (you can drive almost to the top) and the Winter sports (cross-country skiing, sledding and inner-tubing) associated with it, but many love it up here in the warm months as well, when it's 20 degrees cooler than sweltering LA, and there's always a breeze. There's great hiking up here, and bicycling too, both on and off-road. There's also a 9-hole golf course at the PMC clubhouse, and a swimming pool, so in Summer, bring your bathing suit! We have guest passes that entitle our guests to use all facilities at the clubhouse.

A lot of folks simply come up here, whatever the season, to chill out and enjoy each others' company. Next time you've got a week-end or more where you'd like to get away to a very comfortable home away from home in the beautiful, peaceful mountains, we'd love to hear from you!

About Chris

I am a full-time musician in LA. I have always loved coming up to PMC since I was a kid. I still come up here whenever I can, to decompress and recharge. In the last couple of years I've been renting our cabin, 'Chris' Cabin' to a lot of very nice folks. I never knew I would enjoy this so much! Everyone seems to love it. I try to be very attentive, to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.

Chris purchased this house in 1974

Why Chris chose Pine Mountain Club

My Dad and I used to camp out up here in the 60s, when I was a kid. Dad and family friend Shirley bought a choice lot in brand new Pine Mt. Club. That was 1971. In 1974 they had this great cabin built, and it was our personal retreat. We always had a wonderful time whenever we'd come up. Dad and Shirley left me the cabin when they passed on. I totally revamped the cabin over a 6 month period in 2007, because I wanted to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I wanted to share the special experience of coming up to this beautiful place by making it a vacation rental.

What makes this house unique

It came out great! Chris' Cabin is a perfect combination of a cabiny feel (pine paneling, shag carpet, brick fireplace.), and all the hi-tech comforts (42' Plasma TV w/ 5.1 surround sound, Satellite TV, Satellite broadband internet.), as well as creature comforts (Very comfortable beds!, Brand new top-line appliances, fully equipped kitchen). It's down a long driveway off a cul de sac. Situated right on the 'greenbelt', where no structures will ever be built, with a breathtaking view of Mt. San Emigdio on the opposing side of the Canyon. There is great hiking right out the front door, as well as nearby. We have descriptions of these and many other local activities in our 'Welcome Book'. You can walk to the nearby Village Center via the charming 'Snowflake Trail', a 10-15 minute walk. We have Guest Passes to use the facilities at the PMC clubhouse. Chris' Cabin is also a perfect combination of a secluded feel and lovely view, while being conveniently close to the Village Center.

I recommend Chris' cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The cabin is clean and comfortable, and comes fully stocked. I stayed two nights with three other friends, and had an excellent stay.

Nice Secluded Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Very Cozy cabin! We had a great time and even got to see lots of snow.

The Kitchen is fully equipped. Cabin is nice and private. Chris was very nice and helpful. TV and sound system are awesome if you plan to stay in and watch movies! The DVD selection that Chris offers is great and very organized. Beds are comfy! The only negative is that I felt the living area could use more seating. If you want to watch TV comfortably, you can only have about 3 people sit comfortably in the sofa and my 2 others had to be on the floor or sitting on the dining table. I think if another small couch was added to the living area, that would be even better! Other than that, this cabin is great! Thank you Chris for being so helpful and accommodating...very much appreciated! We have recommended your cabin to our LA family and friends!

Owner's Response: Dear Mari, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cabin! You're right that the living room space is somewhat limited. That is why I provide 3 beanbag "chairs" for guests to lounge on while watching movies, in addition to the sofa and the comfy rocking chair. I urge all my guests to check our very thorough welcome book, which lists the locations of everything in the cabin, including the bean bags in the bedroom closet.

Lovely location

My husband and I and our two dogs enjoyed our week at this hillside retreat with great views. Cozy and warm. Great comfortable king-sized bed upstairs. Park with hiking trails within walking distance of cabin.

Amazing DVD collection, excellent taste in movies with surround sound. The owner, Chris, was very responsive to our questions or requests before, during and after our stay and was honest upfront about the limitations of the Internet throughout the Pine Mountain Club.

nice weekend

Nice getaway location, Seems secluded but is close to town. Enjoyed the snowflake trail. Cabin is fully equipped. Enjoyed having our dog with us. Kitchen and living space are small but bedrooms are quite large. We had 5 in our party and so it was not a problem. The host is quite informative before your trip and also includes a lot of information in the cabin. Would definitely return.

A comfortable secluded cabin that has everything you need for both summer and winter vacations!!

  • 5 of 5

Both inside and outside the house is clean and eye-pleasing. The kitchen has everything you might need and the rooms are well-heated in winter. Chris' book on cabin info is extremely helpful and provides tips on activities and much needed info.

A delightful cabin wtih all amenties, in a perfect wooded setting!

  • 5 of 5

We much enjoyed being able to have so many of our family join for at least part of our two day stay at this most cozy cabin. All were surprised and pleased with the set up. It is most accommodating for both adults and children. Arranging matters was very graciously and efficiently orchestrated by Chris, who is most obliging. A pleasure to work with! We "put in an order for snow" and couldn't have had a better snow situation for hours of play with kids at the top of Mt. Pinos, which is an easy drive from the cabin. The convenience store near by met our needs well and experiencing nature by exploring the wooded surounds by the cabin was an added pleasure. Adult time in the cabin was enhanced by the fine TV system in the cabin. Next time, and we are planning a next time , we may indulge in watching a DVD from the vast library Chris has provided.

Thank you, Chris. You will soon get confirmation on our booking for holiday season 2015!
