Located in Pine Mountain Club CA, this newly refurbished three bedroom, one and a half bath home provides an ideal retreat from the relentless pace of the big city.
Only an hour and a half north of LA, people find it hard to believe that they're even in Southern California. We're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other.
We're located walking close, down a charming path, to the quaint PMC Village Center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and video rentals, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150' gravel driveway, with a 'green belt' on three sides.
Nestled in a grove of amazing 60' tall oak trees, it's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain., or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It's common to see deer grazing just below the deck.
Built in 1974, our cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70's color scheme. Don't let that fool you though; with broadband wireless internet, 42' plasma high-definition cable TV and free local and (domestic) long distance phone calls, we are fully up to date with 21st Century technology.
This area is most popular for its proximity to Mt. Pinos (you can drive almost to the top) and the Winter sports (cross-country skiing, sledding and inner-tubing) associated with it, but many love it up here in the warm months as well, when it's 20 degrees cooler than sweltering LA, and there's always a breeze. There's great hiking up here, and bicycling too, both on and off-road. There's also a 9-hole golf course at the PMC clubhouse, and a swimming pool, so in Summer, bring your bathing suit! We have guest passes that entitle our guests to use all facilities at the clubhouse.
A lot of folks simply come up here, whatever the season, to chill out and enjoy each others' company. Next time you've got a week-end or more where you'd like to get away to a very comfortable home away from home in the beautiful, peaceful mountains, we'd love to hear from you!

I am a full-time musician in LA. I have always loved coming up to PMC since I was a kid. I still come up here whenever I can, to decompress and recharge. In the last couple of years I've been renting our cabin, 'Chris' Cabin' to a lot of very nice folks. I never knew I would enjoy this so much! Everyone seems to love it. I try to be very attentive, to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.
Chris purchased this house in 1974
My Dad and I used to camp out up here in the 60s, when I was a kid. Dad and family friend Shirley bought a choice lot in brand new Pine Mt. Club. That was 1971. In 1974 they had this great cabin built, and it was our personal retreat. We always had a wonderful time whenever we'd come up. Dad and Shirley left me the cabin when they passed on. I totally revamped the cabin over a 6 month period in 2007, because I wanted to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I wanted to share the special experience of coming up to this beautiful place by making it a vacation rental.
It came out great! Chris' Cabin is a perfect combination of a cabiny feel (pine paneling, shag carpet, brick fireplace.), and all the hi-tech comforts (42' Plasma TV w/ 5.1 surround sound, Satellite TV, Satellite broadband internet.), as well as creature comforts (Very comfortable beds!, Brand new top-line appliances, fully equipped kitchen). It's down a long driveway off a cul de sac. Situated right on the 'greenbelt', where no structures will ever be built, with a breathtaking view of Mt. San Emigdio on the opposing side of the Canyon. There is great hiking right out the front door, as well as nearby. We have descriptions of these and many other local activities in our 'Welcome Book'. You can walk to the nearby Village Center via the charming 'Snowflake Trail', a 10-15 minute walk. We have Guest Passes to use the facilities at the PMC clubhouse. Chris' Cabin is also a perfect combination of a secluded feel and lovely view, while being conveniently close to the Village Center.
Nice getaway location, Seems secluded but is close to town. Enjoyed the snowflake trail. Cabin is fully equipped. Enjoyed having our dog with us. Kitchen and living space are small but bedrooms are quite large. We had 5 in our party and so it was not a problem. The host is quite informative before your trip and also includes a lot of information in the cabin. Would definitely return.
Both inside and outside the house is clean and eye-pleasing. The kitchen has everything you might need and the rooms are well-heated in winter. Chris' book on cabin info is extremely helpful and provides tips on activities and much needed info.
We much enjoyed being able to have so many of our family join for at least part of our two day stay at this most cozy cabin. All were surprised and pleased with the set up. It is most accommodating for both adults and children. Arranging matters was very graciously and efficiently orchestrated by Chris, who is most obliging. A pleasure to work with! We "put in an order for snow" and couldn't have had a better snow situation for hours of play with kids at the top of Mt. Pinos, which is an easy drive from the cabin. The convenience store near by met our needs well and experiencing nature by exploring the wooded surounds by the cabin was an added pleasure. Adult time in the cabin was enhanced by the fine TV system in the cabin. Next time, and we are planning a next time , we may indulge in watching a DVD from the vast library Chris has provided.
Thank you, Chris. You will soon get confirmation on our booking for holiday season 2015!
We stayed at Chris' cabin for an extended honeymoon weekend, and it was a beautiful, relaxing, and all around enjoyable stay. We would highly recommend this property to friends and family, and we plan on returning in years to come! The owner is extremely helpful and accommodating. We especially enjoyed the balcony view, comfortable rooms, cozy fireplace, extensive movie library, and the list of hiking trails in the area. The owner has put a great deal of effort into making this property feel like a home away from home for the visitor.
We have stayed at Chris' cabin numerous times and have always enjoyed it. The fact that we keep returning, speaks volumes about our experiences at this cabin and the great service that we receive from Chris. Chris is always helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone trying to get away from the hustle of the city for a relaxing weekend.
The hubby, myself and the pups had a wonderful stay at Chris's Cabin. It was clean, quiet and cozy with plenty of entertainment. The King size bed was super comfy - we are total bed snobs by the way. The couch and dining chairs however, not so much (but again, we are plush snobs.) The bakery in the village was delicious and we even had a little snow up the mountain to play in. It was a great, inexpensive weekend and we will definitely be back.
