SECLUDED, ROMANTIC GETAWAY. PERFECT FOR FAMILIES TOO!

Pine Mountain Club House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Located in Pine Mountain Club CA, this newly refurbished three bedroom, one and a half bath home provides an ideal retreat from the relentless pace of the big city.

Only an hour and a half north of LA, people find it hard to believe that they're even in Southern California. We're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other.

We're located walking close, down a charming path, to the quaint PMC Village Center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and video rentals, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150' gravel driveway, with a 'green belt' on three sides.

Nestled in a grove of amazing 60' tall oak trees, it's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain., or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It's common to see deer grazing just below the deck.

Built in 1974, our cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70's color scheme. Don't let that fool you though; with broadband wireless internet, 42' plasma high-definition cable TV and free local and (domestic) long distance phone calls, we are fully up to date with 21st Century technology.

This area is most popular for its proximity to Mt. Pinos (you can drive almost to the top) and the Winter sports (cross-country skiing, sledding and inner-tubing) associated with it, but many love it up here in the warm months as well, when it's 20 degrees cooler than sweltering LA, and there's always a breeze. There's great hiking up here, and bicycling too, both on and off-road. There's also a 9-hole golf course at the PMC clubhouse, and a swimming pool, so in Summer, bring your bathing suit! We have guest passes that entitle our guests to use all facilities at the clubhouse.

A lot of folks simply come up here, whatever the season, to chill out and enjoy each others' company. Next time you've got a week-end or more where you'd like to get away to a very comfortable home away from home in the beautiful, peaceful mountains, we'd love to hear from you!

I am a full-time musician in LA. I have always loved coming up to PMC since I was a kid. I still come up here whenever I can, to decompress and recharge. In the last couple of years I've been renting our cabin, 'Chris' Cabin' to a lot of very nice folks. I never knew I would enjoy this so much! Everyone seems to love it. I try to be very attentive, to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.

Chris purchased this house in 1974

My Dad and I used to camp out up here in the 60s, when I was a kid. Dad and family friend Shirley bought a choice lot in brand new Pine Mt. Club. That was 1971. In 1974 they had this great cabin built, and it was our personal retreat. We always had a wonderful time whenever we'd come up. Dad and Shirley left me the cabin when they passed on. I totally revamped the cabin over a 6 month period in 2007, because I wanted to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I wanted to share the special experience of coming up to this beautiful place by making it a vacation rental.

It came out great! Chris' Cabin is a perfect combination of a cabiny feel (pine paneling, shag carpet, brick fireplace.), and all the hi-tech comforts (42' Plasma TV w/ 5.1 surround sound, Satellite TV, Satellite broadband internet.), as well as creature comforts (Very comfortable beds!, Brand new top-line appliances, fully equipped kitchen). It's down a long driveway off a cul de sac. Situated right on the 'greenbelt', where no structures will ever be built, with a breathtaking view of Mt. San Emigdio on the opposing side of the Canyon. There is great hiking right out the front door, as well as nearby. We have descriptions of these and many other local activities in our 'Welcome Book'. You can walk to the nearby Village Center via the charming 'Snowflake Trail', a 10-15 minute walk. We have Guest Passes to use the facilities at the PMC clubhouse. Chris' Cabin is also a perfect combination of a secluded feel and lovely view, while being conveniently close to the Village Center.

Fantastic Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5
This was my first experience with a VRBO rental and it was absolutely wonderful. The cabin pictures were accurately reflected the property and the view off of the two balconies is simply breathtaking. The owner Chris patiently and quickly answered all my nervous first time questions before renting and the couple I had during our stay. Although one day of our stay was devoted to taking the grandkids to Knotts Berry Farm we enjoyed hiking and exploring in the area on the other day, along with just relaxing in the cabin. The 12 year old grandson, proclaimed it "awesome" when he arrived and his 8 year old brother asked if he could leave a gift thanking the owner for letting us stay. We will definitely consider returning in the future!

Near By but makes you feel far away

Had a lovely time in this cabin. Well provisioned, nice meadow view, private and a very agreeable owner who communicates thoroughly with you before you arrive with every detail you need to find and open the cabin. Once inside find very detailed advice about what to do, where to go, hiking maps, etc. 2 main Bedrooms are larger than I expected and very comfortable... one has a deck with views and sliding doors. Great sound system and many DVD movies to pick from. Chris obviously puts a lot of care into keeping the cabin neat and organized. This is a more rustic cabin experience where you clean up after yourself and bring your own linens so if you want 100% pampering, this is not for you. Furnishings are not hotel chic but very comfortable and functional. A serene, peaceful, very affordable weekend get -away to a very small, scenic, hidden mountain town that borders Kern, Ventura, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. A straight shot up the #5 freeway from LA, or take more rural and scenic route 166 out of SLO County or the Santa Maria Area (the back way in). A great place to sit on the deck and star watch or simply ponder the universe, or hike a 6,000 ft mtn peak. If you are looking for nightlife, or are a party animal, forget it. A few Restaurants/bars in the area are sufficient, very casual, nothing fancy, home cookin'. Golf course & community pool and horseback riding is available. Chris' cabin on the meadow is a good spot for birdwatching, lots of squirrels, little critters and possibly a place to spot a few bears or deer. My dog loved it also.

Amazing Cabin Experience!!

Chris' Cabin is the absolute best. This was our third visit and we cannot wait to go back. The cabin is very clean, has all the amminities of home, and is big enough for multiple people to stay comfortably. The owner, Chris, is very attentive and kind through the whole process. He truly makes you feel like your a close friend or family member.

Fantastic Host

The cabin is quaint, furniture and flooring are old, but clean. Nice deck with a lovely view, needs some comfy chairs. The best thing about this cabin is the owner. He gave us so much information about restaurants, hikes and things to do. Excellent communication and just a really nice guy. We would go back.

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased you enjoyed the cabin! I'm sorry you didn't find the deck chairs. I urge all my guests to look through our welcome book when they get to the cabin; it has the locations of everything in the cabin, including the 8 deck chairs in the Den closet. They are very comfortable and meant specifically to set out on the deck and enjoy the amazing view.

Very Comfortable - a nice retreat!

  • 4 of 5
My friends and I rented this cabin to spend time together over the holidays. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace worked, and the central heat was great! The house was clean when we arrived. We caught up on movies with the excellent library and the book Chris keeps, telling everything from how to use the coffee maker to hiking trails, was very appreciated! The one unfortunate thing was trash disposal. We had to take the trash and recycling to the City Dump because there is no trash pick-up. That, in itself, was doable, but the dump was closed for the holiday, and we had a lot of trash after 3 days and Christmas presents, etc. We ended up hauling it to Frazier Park.

Owner's Response: I'm pleased you had a great stay at the cabin!

Being a "guest cleaned" cabin means not only do you save the cleaning fee that the rental agencies will charge, but it also makes it a more personal rental experience; more like staying at a friend's place than a hotel. One of the trade offs is you do have to dispose of your own trash. The Pine Mt. Club dump is nearby and convenient.
