Beautiful Cottage Seeks Ideal Guest: Comfortable, artfully designed, hand crafted yurt nestled into vibrant garden seeks visitors for memorable stay. If you like nature, hiking and gorge walks, if you are tired of cookie cutter hotel rooms or antique stuffed B & B's, if you want something unique and delightful let's get together for one night or many weeks! Hey, I know I'm just a 'luxury apartment in the round' but who says places can't have personality! Please write my caretaker and come visit me!

Talk About Kid Friendly!: Climbing Vine Cottage began as a playground and school for young gardeners. Small hands helped grow fruits, vegetables and flowers for their families and our local soup kitchen Loaves and Fishes. Children have raised butterflies, caught frogs and identified bugs. The yurt was our classroom. In the garden you'll find the cedar tool shed neatly organized with high quality child-sized tools and children's gardening books. In the yurt children will be delighted to sit at the child's table for 4 and use the beading, drawing, collage and clay materials we always keep in stock. There's a play kitchen, tea set and apron, plus baskets with legos and a train set and a well-stocked children's book shelf. Additionally you'll find kid-friendly-adaptive-devices like a step stool, potty seat, and low bench. For adults without kids don't worry, when we know you're coming we place these materials out of the way, on shelves, etc.

Perfect for a Romantic Getaway: Climbing Vine Cottage makes it easy to find the time for each other. Cook together in a beautiful kitchen or get take out. Cozy up by the fire or climb in bed and watch a DVD. Better yet, climb up to the loft to watch the stars or take the telescope out to the deck and really check out the night sky. Explore the forest and gorge in privacy surrounded by peace and beauty.

We're so glad we choose to stay at Climbing Vine Cottage! The warmth of the fire, the sound of the rain on the roof and the gentle quietness of the land added to our rest and relaxation. We will definitely be back in winter! And spring! And summer!

Cozy, Funky, Modern & Fun

Amy & John Long Island, NY
Review Submitted: July 19, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
My husband and I have actually visited twice already. I was on here to look at the calendar for autumn to book our next visit, when I realized we hadn't written a review on here. This place really books up, so you should just reserve it now when you're done reading this. The reviews on here and nothing compared to what's in the guestbook at the cottage. It's a popular place. Everybody has a good time and you will too.

The yurt is awesome. We love it. It's fun and different and has a real good energy about it. We cook a lot and the kitchen is really nice. There's a pellet stove that heats the place up really well in the colder months. Even on a crazy stormy night with 40+mph wind gusts, we were snuggled up just fine.

Although it's very suitable for families with children, all that stuff can also be concealed if you're looking for a relaxing/ romantic couple's weekend sans kiddie clutter.

Michelle and Brandon are super cool people. Michelle can give you any info you'd want to know as she's a local. There's a lot to do around Ithaca, and the Finger Lakes wine trails are great. And if you're lazy like us, the cottage is also great for doing nothing, reading on the couch and baking cakes.

We look forward to going back up when we get some free time in the next few months!

YURT ALERT!! BEST ITHACA GETAWAY!

Heather & Joey Syracuse, NY
Review Submitted: March 23, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
With the stress of mid-March seasonal change, my hubby and I needed a break from the regularity of our lives to gather some much-needed perspective. I was looking for a unique experience, something to remind us of the odd pleasures of life. Finding this yurt getaway was exactly what I was looking for - itmade us giddy with anticipation, and after arrival we were no less giddy.

The yurt itself is intriguing. We spent a lot of time thinking about the construction of it and its interior design. The modern kitchen and bathroom were great luxuries, and among these modern luxuries we found that we could hear the birds outside as though all the windows were open. It was the perfect blend for us. We spent hours relaxing in front of the wood pellet stove watching out the windows. Outside is amazine as well and I can't wait to see it in full bloom. We hiked down to the waterfalls and gorges IN THE BACKYARD. Amazing. Truly amazing.

We left with the welcomed reminder of the connection between man and nature, and the endless potential to create with our own hands. What a treasure - we plan to return for an entire week this summer!

fabulous and great with kids.....

eco mom redding, ct
Review Submitted: February 28, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
even in the dead of february and single digit temperature....the warmth and coziness of the yurt felt like home. traveling with a 9 month old is always challenging but not at the climbing vine cottage. comfortable...lots of toys...a fully equipped kitchen made our weekend helping a friend in ithaca so much easier.

our hosts were gracious and made sure that our pipes didnt freeze by warming the pipes first thing so we could have a hot shower. baby slept in the master bed and my husband and i slept in the loft under the stars listening to the wind outside. it was magical.

the place was very clean, eco friendly with no overbearing smells and all natural products and the beds and sheets are high quality and really comfortable

when it did warm up...we treked into the forest and found a baby swing hanging from a tree and it was a delight for my little guy.

lastly the artbar chocolate in the freezer was the best chocolate i have ever had and was so needed when we wanted a treat but didnt want to leave the warmth of the fire.

i highly recommend this home away from home.

Tucked Away and Tucked In

EmilyBeth Boston, MA
Review Submitted: December 1, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
We had a wonderful time in this luxurious yurt! Michelle and Brandon were so welcoming. What is so great about this yurt is that it is a decidedly unassuming, unpretentious place to stay, but then it surprises you with all the little luxuries. Yes, you may sleep in an eco-friendly bed, wash with eco-friendly soap, and warm yourself by an eco-friendly fire (really!) but there is nothing about this getaway that is basic. All the fixtures (stove, fridge, etc) are such high quality, the linens were soft and new, the pillows were down, the wireless was fast and even the coffee and chocolate that was left for us was unexpectedly special. I didn't leave the yurt for three days over Thanksgiving and couldn't have been happier. (Did I mention that the place is impeccably clean and unbelievably kid-friendly? It comes stocked with play-dough, games, kites, crafts, art supplies, etc.). Thanks Michelle and Brandon for a wonderful time!
