Rustic Meets Luxury The Red Cedar Retreat is an 850 square foot, two bedroom red cedar log cottage located in the picturesque community of Sandy Hook in Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada. The cottage has a rustic feel with the vaulted cedar ceilings and beams, woodstove, and old wide-plank fir and terracotta floors, yet it comes equipped with all the modern amenities to make your stay as carefree and easy as possible. The cottage is fully furnished and contains a full-sized fridge, stove, toaster, espresso/cappuccino maker, gas BBQ, washer and dryer. For a touch of luxury, high-end mattresses, fine bed linens, down comforters, plush towels, and natural organic toiletries are provided.

The Red Cedar Cottage was a great place for our family with two small children. There was a bath and shower to cool off in after a hot summer day at the beach which was a necessity for two little ones. We had all the basics we needed in the kitchen, and the cabin was well-maintained. Customer service was really good, and clear directions to the cabin was helpful. My only complaint would be that there wasn't screens on all of the windows, therefore with the hot weather we couldn't leave everything open due to bugs coming in. As for recommending to a friend, I would definately come again, and recommend it to someone who doesn't need to be right on the water, and likes a comfortable bed to sleep in instead of camping. Well worth the stay!

Great Cottage

The 'Red Cedar Cottage' was a great escape, we had an amazing time. Our expections were met. We made use quick use of the hot tub and found it easy to relax nestled in the rain forest, the expresso maker (although the milk steamer was clogged) was put to good use in the mornings, and we found the BBQ great to make dinner on. We traveled with a 1.5 year old who loved to cottage, and the beaches that are a walk away. My only complaint was walking up the steep hills back to the cottage pushing him in our stroller (we definitely got a work out - those are some steep inclines). The town of Sechelt was great to walk around, and we spent quite a bit of time on their pebble beach. Neighbours were friendly and so was the neighbourhood dog 'Jack' (who came for daily visits).
