|Minimum Stay||30 nights|
This water front Cottage lies near the north end of the San Francisco Bay at the gateway to the wine country, where the Napa River flows into the Carquinez Straights.
The Cottage is reached via a boardwalk along the water's edge which meanders through a tiny community called 'Sandy Beach'.
It has an open floor plan with incredible light. You can hear the sound of the water splashing under the house and the sea birds singing in the distance. You are surrounded on three sides by sweeping views of the bay, Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, Mare Island, and the Carquinez Bridge. There is a waterside deck with BBQ and comfy furniture to relax and take in the beautiful views.
For wine tasting, the Napa Valley is a 30 minute drive North on Highway 29, or Sonoma County 20 minutes to the West. World class restaurants, shopping and wine tasting at your fingertips. The Vallejo Marina has a variety of bars, restaurants, and the Ferry Building. San Francisco is a 50 minute ride. Historic Mare Island, the former Naval Base, features a small museaum, historic restored military buildings and residences and an eighteen hole golf couse with beautiful views of the water.
If you love the water, nature, beautiful sunsets and the simple life and don't mind a 5 minute walk to your house, this is the place for you....it is in one word 'Paradise'.

The cottage is the guest house on my property.
we had a wonderful time , the cottage was clean beautifully decorated.. I am now using an electric scooter to get around and it was very accessible. The path from the parking lot is about 1/3 mile so someone needs to be strong enough to tote belongings and food, the view is wonderful ferries and ships, .visited MT Tam Napa, Clearlake, ferry to SF! Great. Restaurants Great weather. We hope to do it again.
Staying here is a perfectly unique experience and any friends you invite over will have to say, as my Bay Area friends did, "I had no idea anything like this even existed." I used it as a home base for visiting friends and family all over Northern California. And took the ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco which is far better than driving over the Bay Bridge. And I spent hours sitting on the couch and looking over the water at the huge variety of boats, from kayaks to giant container ships, and at the birds...diving birds, ducks of all kinds, and flocks of geese. And, of course, at the sunset over Mount Tamalpais.
This is our 2nd stay for a total of 6 months. A totally unique environment in all of the San Francisco Bay area. Now sitting on the deck (waves lap under the cottage) in the bright sunlight enjoying the weather and a glass of wine. Straight west are the coastal mountains and Mt. Tamalpais. Just to the south is the Carquinez Straights with the Carquinez Bridge towering over the Sacramento River emptying into North San Francisco Bay. To our right the Napa River separates us from historic Mare Island.
This cottage is very private, but it has the added benefit of being adjacent to a common area for all tenants that feeds to a 300' long earth jetty (a super plus for dog owners like us -- just make sure to do your normal clean up).
The cottage itself is small but very comfortable. A large deck with seating and grill works great. Bring your sunglasses for the sunsets behind Mt. Tam. Other pluses include a great landlord (Bill), a place the grandchildren love (water, boats, bridge lights, trains across the Bay going to exotic places), decent WIFI, ice maker, good shower, comfortable bed and a super friendly community.
If I have to site some negatives, I would say no dishwasher (kitchen isn't big enough to house it), 1/4 mile walk (5 minutes) to the parking lot (although this is also a plus for privacy and seeing neighbors along the charming walkway), and the kitchen could stand some refurbishing of flatware and cooking gear.
Overall, very happy to be here and looking forward to the remainder of our stay.
Love staying at this property. Quiet, clean, lovely neighbors, helpful landlord. Hesitate recommending this cottage since I don't want competition. Can't wait for next year to arrive so my little dog and I will once again live in paradise for two months.
