West Beach Suites

We loved our stay at this apartment, it was just like it had been described and suited our purposes perfectly. The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated, with functional appliances and a spacious refrigerator. We brought our own international DVD player to play DVDs from Europe, it worked perfectly with the TV monitor and the owner was helpful setting it up. Wireless internet connection worked flawlessly. The kitchen was nicely stocked with everything necessary to cook and eat. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom clean and there were plenty of beach chairs, towels, sand toys etc. The beach is really just a stone's throw away. The owners of the apartment live on site and are very friendly and helpful. They directed us to grocery stores, pharmacies and kid friendly entertainment like a merry-go-round in a park at walking distance, and an amazing playground a little further away, at Alameda Park. We would definitely recommend this apartment to families with children, maybe with one caveat: The house is located right next to a river, and there is no fence or wall along the steep drop from the patio area down to the stony river bed just outside the apartment door. With a toddler, a lot of caution and supervision would be necessary. The walk to Old Town Santa Barbara is indeed short, but it does lead under the railway bridge, and light sleepers might want to bring ear plugs, as trains can be heard at the apartment. There is a convenient shuttle service for 25 cents per person that stops close to the apartment. Passengers can get on and off all along State Street. It stops running rather early in the evening, though. To go out for dinner, we recommend taking the car or stick with one of the Italian places along the beach. Or cook at the apartment, which is what we did! It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we are definitely planning on coming back!

My husband and I stayed at this property recently with our three small children (age 4,2, and 5 months). The owners were very friendly and accommodating - even providing beach toys and a wagon for my kids to use during our stay. The room was lovely and the bedding was very comfortable. We found the location to be ideal as we found very little need to use our car. We would definitely consider staying here again.

My girlfriend and I spent an extended weekend in Santa Barbara, and the West Beach Suite was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Beautifully furnished, incredibly clean and tidy, with a full kitchen, large bathroom, and wonderful neighborhood, W.B.S. enchanted from the first minute. We could literally walk everywhere we wanted to go, and since it's so close to the train station, the next time I visit I don't even have to drive! I can walk! It couldn’t get any better. The owners Grant and Holly were incredibly personable and friendly, told us of all the great restaurants and local sights, and always had smiles for us. I will be back for sure, and am telling all my friends about W.B.S. They won’t regret staying there, and neither will you!
