House, 2 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

This Beautiful 1952 mid-century modern home, is located on the hillside in the Pasadena Rose Bowl area. The location is key. It is completely surrounded by nature and is unique in the privacy that it provides.

An Artist's Retreat; This is a rare gem of a home and truly provides a sense of peace and well being as you would find in worldwide retreats. It is a zen hideaway all your own to discover. It has two bedrooms and two newly renovated bathrooms and kitchen. The main floor overlooks and surrounds the original pool, which takes center stage, especially @ night when the turquoise blue glows and lights up the back yard. There is a cozy cabana off the poolside, which has three twin beds. There are two decks that are perched out over the canyon below. One covered balcony has a double bed. There is an original gas fireplace in the living room for cozy nights and floor to ceiling glass panel that make up half the room. Vienna wood floor and original Terrazzo Flooring throughout. This one must be viewed in person to receive the full effect. Sit on the balcony soaking up the sun, take a swim at your private modern tree-house. Do yoga or meditate in the quiet and serenity of the natural surroundings. Regain a sense of yourself and bask in the beauty of your private retreat.

This home is nestled within a private canyon in the Rose Bowl area of Pasadena, California. A short five minute drive from Old Town Pasadena for dining, shopping, movies, museums and groceries. It is a great base for exploring nearby Los Angeles and just far away enough to get lost in the serenity of the natural landscape that surrounds this beautiful zen Hideaway. The house is designed around a refreshing vintage pool. Beds are situated on the covered balconies to sleep under the stars and be one with nature as if in a modern tree-house. Due to the traquility of nature set in a wonderfully private neighborhood that surrounds together with respect for the neighbors there are to be no parties at this home. This home is for those who come to soak in the beauty which surrounds both outdoors as well as from inside this home. A zen base from where to regain your senses.

Our family of four stayed in this beautiful home for a week of R and R. Although it is located less than five minutes from Old Town Pasadena, the house has an isolated feel. There are no close neighbors within view. Our two children loved the pool and enjoyed the trails and wildlife on the property. We spotted a mother and baby dear, a falcon, and numerous rabbits from the upper sleeping balcony. The home is tastefully and artistically decorated and has a wonderful, open floor plan with plenty of light and warmth. We would certainly return to this delightful home. The house is located close to Hollywood, Universal Studios, the LA Zoo, Eaton Canyon and other attractions. Old Town Pasadena has great shopping, theaters and dining. We enjoyed the Gold Class Cinema where we were served dinner with the movie. We recommend this house to all.

Hello... Thank you for your interest in my private retreat for your stay in the Los Angeles Area.

After traveling the globe for 25 years, I have had the pleasure of experiencing the world's Best. From Castles to farm homes to thatched huts to a tent in the Sahara and this is the spot that has stopped me in my tracks of traveling. A place to reflect, regain your senses and relax. This home is for those who have an appreciation for Mid-Century Modern Architecture, Art, Nature and Lifestyle. I offer this home as an exclusive stay in an Artist's Home.

Why The Owner chose Pasadena

I am originally from Long Island, N.Y. I have lived in Pasadena for the last 25 as my homebase while traveling. It was originally attending nearby Art Center College of Design, which brought me to Pasadena and I have stayed in the area ever since graduating. My background is in Film, Photography, Interior & Garden Design. I feel that Pasadena is a World Class City, offering Culture and The Arts. The Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens, The Rose bowl Stadium and National New Years Day Parade to name a few of my favorites. It has an east coast feeling as you drive through the tree lined streets. However as you look out from the home into the distance you are transported and you could be anywhere in the world.

The home was everything I had hoped it would be plus. The description and pictures really do not do it justice. Privacy, convenience, casual comfort at its best both indoors and out. A perfect place to relax after a day of activity in the area. Furnishings were clean and neatly presented. It is an extremely pleasant atmosphere, and one of the most unique settings I've ever seen. The walking paths out the back door are spectacular if you like to hike and explore.
The property owner was the most responsive and accommodating I've ever worked with, and always answered the phone to respond to any questions we had. I was late arriving due to a delayed flight and it was no issue at all. I had to cut my trip short due to a personal issue and she was gracious in understanding and working with me. I can't say enough about her or the property, and I am looking forward to my return to LA and this home so I can take advantage of everything I didn't have a chance to on my first trip. I would recommend to anyone.
I've stayed in many properties and I can wrap this experience up in saying 'the only surprises were pleasant ones'! M.H.

I was in the midst of trying to look for a perfect location to do our company's Spring Photo shoot and was in awe when I came across Traci's VERY lovely Zen Home. I hesitated sending my application since I noticed that everyone who stayed have rented her place for at least a couple of days/weeks/months while I only needed it for an entire day of shoot. I was very happy to get a call from Traci. She was very accommodating and nice and let me rent it last January.

I remember walking in my crew speechless. I thought the photos says it all but it was even more breathtaking in person! I cannot believe I was just in Pasadena. It felt like a hidden secret place. As I waited for the rest of my models, I walked the vicinity and saw cute deers running outside the wild. They were totally harmless. It was just incredible that this house was so in-touch with nature like no other. ZEN is the perfect way of describing the place. I was not able to use every part of the house since it was very cold that day. I was only able to use indoor rooms but everything still turned out GREAT. There were unique art pieces everywhere, quaint and eclectic.
My photos came out so good and my boss was very happy and impressed by the work done. I thank Traci so much for letting us use her house for the day. I would love to come back for our next session so we can shoot outside by the pool area. It has the most amazing back drop of nature. The sun gives perfect lighting and effects.
I give this place 5 stars and can't wait to work with Traci again :))))))

A hidden Gem in Pasadena. 5 stars.

This house is exactly like she says it is...a Zen hideaway. Quick from the freeway you come upon historic old town Pasadena. At a blink of an eye you are transcended amongst a dense surrounding of trees and beautiful homes. Once we arrived at the original mid century abode, I knew we found a private paradise. After opening the front door the sight of nature came pouring in from every direction. I was struck by the simplistic openness and layout of this groovy pad. It is complemented with multiple large glass windows. They permit you to consume a grip of nature in Pasadena’s lush green mountains without the intrusion of any neighbors. This is peace at last!
The combination of genuine primitive artifacts from around the world and modern art are balanced in such a way that they enable you to become more free. This place is warm, comfortable and well groomed with no distractions. It is essential for me as a film director to allow my senses to sharpen and become more in tune. Take a few steps outside on the balcony and the sound of birds are singing like a natural symphony. After a few moments I realized that I was being rewarded again by the freshest air flowing through the trees from the hillside.
Also making their way across the hillside was the same group of deer every day for seven days straight. Repeatedly a huge red tailed hawk perched itself on a branch of a tree on the tallest part of the mountain. The animals didn’t seem to mind us peeking in on them from this incredible vantage point. It was a unique opportunity and a privilege to witness some of the truth nature has to offer.

For the second year running my wife and I rented Traci’s home, this time for a full three months. Please refer to my earlier review, as everything I wrote previously still holds true; however, Traci has made several notable improvements. She’s added a large round dining table and eight matching chairs, which transformed the dining area and enabled us to host larger dinner parties. In addition she has finished a rear verandah area, wonderfully situated in the middle of the magnificent, undeveloped canyon where the house nestles. You really feel like you’re in the most marvelous nature preserve. I have only stayed here in the winter but can’t help thinking how great it would be in the summer with its multitudinous outdoor areas and pool.
