Bucktail Cabin is located in the beautiful historic mining town of Lewiston, California; across the street from the Bucktail Salmon Hole and less than 1/4 of a mile from the Bucktail boat launch. A large open deck on the front of the cabin offers river views and a serene setting for barbecues, star gazing, or just relaxing. In addition, great steelhead and salmon fishing are available within a short walking distance.
This two story cabin has a master bedroom (queen size bed) and bathroom, living room, and kitchen on the top floor and two bedrooms (one with 2 extra long twin beds, and the other with a twin over full size bunk bed), a full size bathroom and laundry area on the ground floor. A sofa hide-a-bed and additional air mattresses are available for use, if desired.
The surrounding areas provide many activities for you and your family, including biking and hiking trails, fishing and water sports, antiquing (Weaverville & Lewiston), or just relaxing on the deck and watching the Trinity River and wildlife. Everything needed for a great excursion is available at the Bucktail Cabin!
A group of six guys rented for the long weekend to try our hand at salmon fishing on the Trinity River. Cabin had a great layout, was clean, and extremely well stocked. No need to drive once we arrived, the river is literally across the street with easy access. Downtown Lewiston is worth the short drive to go see, make sure you stop at the hotel/restaurant and have a cocktail. Fishing wasn't on while we were there but we will be back to try again. Thanks for letting us stay Jay.
My two sons and I had an excellent time at Bucktail Cabin. Cabin was a great place to stay we will be staying there again. And contrary to what I was told fishing turned out to be great!!
To start off, the owner is very nice and considerate. He answered all my questions and provided a detailed map with directions to his place. When the seven of us got there, we were very happy with the layout of the house and how cozy it was. There are plenty of fish jumping around in the river across the house and upstream was picturesque. The house is conviently located near the river, lake, and fly shop which made it easy for the guys to get around. The girls were able to pick deliciously sweet blackberries near the house. It was a great weekend had by all and we wished we could of stayed longer. I would definately go back if I get the chance, and hopefully before steelhead season is over. Many thanks to the owner from of us who stayed at your wonderful home. Til next time!!!
We stayed here again in december of 2011. Caught several Steelhead right near the house and several more just a short walk away. The place is completely comfortable and clean. It is so much fun being there. We usually stay with a group of 4 guys, but I could see this working well for couples or even a family with a few kids. Also, the owner is easy to talk to work with and an all around friendly guy.
We stayed her in November of 2010. Very comfortable for 4 fishing buddies. Plenty of space. Great fishing close by. A great deck to bbq on and throw back a couple of pints after fishing all day. The owner was easy to work with and a nice guy.
We'll be back. In fact, I'm booking our winter trip for 2011 now
The house is in very good condition and is located within walking distance to some of the best holes on the river.
A perfect place to stay with all the amenities you would need to have a great fishing weekend.
