San Juan Vacation Rental apartment

We rented this property for three weeks during our winter break and loved it. The location is fantastic, on a small, quiet and charming street, between the Plaza de la Rogativa and the El Convento hotel. Half a block to the right is the ocean; half a block to the left is a little plaza with the Children’s Museum on one side and the cathedral across the street. It’s in the heart of Old San Juan and ideally located for exploring the old city.

The apartment is huge and occupies three floors (second through fourth). The second floor has a living/dining room, half bathroom, kitchen and patio (which is completely contained within the apartment); third floor has a bedroom and an office, both of which are configured like balconies that look out over the first floor, and a bathroom (with a tub/shower combination); the fourth floor has the master bedroom and a terrace. There are soaring cathedral ceilings, and sitting on the patio you can look straight up three floors to the glass block roof. Other than the glass roof, there are no windows except in the master bedroom (this is typical for Old San Juan) but the apartment is light and spacious. There are big ceiling fans that keep the air moving. It’s a very pleasant place to come back to at night, or to linger in during the day.

The furniture and beds are good quality and very comfortable. There’s a full kitchen with lots of interesting art and a washing machine. The master bedroom has an air conditioning unit which we used at night. The ceiling fans do a good job of keeping the rest of the apartment cool. The owner is a very nice person who went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
