Cotuit Environment:
Cotuit is an old Cape Cod historic town less traveled than most of the Cape. The town surrounds Cotuit Harbor and provides water access to Vineyard Sound and 4 other bays. Historic houses grace the area where walking and biking is a major enjoyment. Three local beaches are on the warm water side of the Cape, one of which has full-time life guards. In addition, within 2-3 blocks walk from the Carriage House is the town dock for fishing and watching fishing boats unload the day's catch, children's playground, library, restaurant and antique country store.
Things to Do:
There are many things to do .. if so motivated, both nearby or short travel to other parts of the Cape. At the Carriage House, there are large lawns for croquet, bocce or simply relaxing on a hammock or adirondacks chair. The gardens provide cut flowers throughout the summer. Three beaches are available in Cotuit, two of which are within walking distance; and the third, a short bike ride. A large kayak is available that holds two adults and has seats for two small children.
Short travel provides access to public golf courses, fishing trips, whale watching, horse back riding, rental boats, picnic areas, historic sites such as the Kennedy Memorial, Marconi Museum, Sandwich Glass Museum, Heritage Museum and Gardens, light houses, grist mills, to name but a few.
