We moved to Big Bear in 1999 having always rented a small cabin to stay in at Christmas. We learned a lot about what makes a great rental and have tried to incorporate it into this one.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006

We always walked our dog on this street and were waiting for a cabin to come available, thinking it was just the perfect place for a great vacation rental. We completely remodeled it with all new dual glazed windows & insulation, wiring, plumbing, tankless water heater, kitchen, siding, and paved parking.

The proximity to the lake is a big plus, and the gently sloping back yard and street-to-street lot make for great sledding in the winter.

Best cabin yet!

This was our third year in a row visiting Big Bear and our third cabin rental through VRBO. We had some luck with the other cabins we rented but they weren't a perfect fit for our family so we looked at areas a little further from The Village. The cabin isn't far at all from things (maybe 10 minutes from The Village) and the neighborhood was very nice and quiet.

The Kitchen: It has been recently updated which made it stand out from the other cabins we had rented before. It was great for cooking in! Having room to prep, newer appliances and quality cookware was very nice to have and a clear departure from our previous experiences. The only thing we were missing was a muffin pan but we made due without it, they had everything else including Tupperware for your leftovers!

The Rooms: My wife and I used the one with the TV. The bed took a little getting used to as we had never slept on memory foam before but it was only a topper and not a full mattress. Our only complaint about that room was the window above the bed only had a half curtain which let in all the morning light and the sun rises on that side of the cabin. We were able to rig up a couple of pillows to cut down the light but it would have been nice if they had a full curtain option. The other room had less light and we ended up setting up our toddler son in there so he could sleep easier. There was plenty of space for him. The living room was nice and the fireplace was easy to use. The bonus of a large DVD collection and a foosball table kept us entertained throughout our week stay. The bathroom was very nice and if I had read the description clearly I would have noticed that it was only a shower, no tub. This wasn't necessarily a deal breaker but with a toddler it proved difficult to navigate and ultimately he was not a fan. This would be the ONLY reason we would not come back and stay here again.

Pets: The cabin is dog friendly and they have a nice dog run on the side of the house and bowls for them as well. Our only issue with this was it didn't appear the carpeted areas were vacuumed very well as there was a lot of dog hair in the carpets. We tried to vacuum it up ourselves but the Dyson didn't appear to be working correctly and was missing a piece which may be the problem. Hopefully the owner can address this and it will be a non-issue in the future.

Overall this cabin was great and we recommend it anyone looking for an upgraded cabin at affordable rates in a quiet part of town.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. We strive to have the cabin be truly special, clean and full of the comforts that make a trip extraordinary. We always include a guest feedback sheet so that we can address anything that isn't just right.

The cabin was re carpeted just about a month ago so we are surprised about dog hair in the carpet but will check to see if the Dyson vacuum needs repair or replacement.

Thank you again for the nice comments and suggestions. We will work to resolve anything that was less than perfect.

We look forward to your next visit.

Best Wishes,
Karen Lavrouhin

Feels Like Home

This cabin is perfect: quiet, clean, tastefully decorated, intelligently furnished. Kitchen has everything you would expect in your own home, including cookie sheet! The view is gorgeous. Short stroll to the marina for water activities, and yet a very secluded, private feel. If out in the heat of day, try renting a pontoon boat that provides shade while you explore the lake. Perfect experience. Go out early in the day or later in the afternoon for kayaking, canoeing, and other activities. If you feel a need to re-energize, trying throwing yourself into the water. Wow! The neighborhood is wonderful to take walks in (we stayed in mid-June). Streets are lined with tall pine trees, and birds and chipmunks punctuate your walk. I imagine it also would be perfect for biking in the neighborhood, and I would bring a bike next time. New wooden benches and table are out on the deck, much nicer than what is shown in the pictures. We enjoyed a great BBQ lunch with friends out there. We drove up several times to hike and only had to drive a few twists and turns before we were well on our way up the mountain towards our favorite trails. Champion Lodge Pole Pine trail is one of our favorites. Leave early in the morning and hike in the cool fresh air. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Big Bear. I will recommend this cabin to all my friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much!
It is so wonderful to know that guests are having the experience we strive for.
Our goal for the cabin is for our guests to feel like they are in a magical home away from home with the comforts they desire. We have over time added the things we would want if we were visiting this mountain paradise with an emphasis on delivering the feeling of being in the mountains...somewhere truly special.

Charming luxury cabin

This is our 3rd time staying at this amazing cabin. We absolutely love everything about it and look forward to each 1st week of March when we get to return. We arrived this year to find a great new natural gas BBQ on the deck and grilled a few meals while enjoying the views of the lake. We didn't have as much snow around the cabin as years past, but had plenty to keep us busy. We enjoyed many of the extras that the cabin provides, such as foosball games, a variety of video games as well as a few newer DVD releases. There was still time to get in 2 full days on the local ski slopes as well as a dining recommendation to the Cowboy Express Steakhouse in town. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a little mountain luxury. Thanks again for a wonderful getaway.

My husband and I needed a clean, comfortable get-a-way and we were not disappointed. Tim and Karen have a beautiful cabin. All the supplies you need are there. Our 2 dogs felt very welcome. On arrival there were dog treats and bowls for them. Highly recommended. We will be back!

This was our 2nd time renting this awesome cabin for our annual 1st weekend of March ski trip. We just love the location, the upscale amenities and the many extras. There are video games for kids young & old, every kitchen utensil/appliance that you could need or dream up, saucers for sledding, numerous cable channels for watching, foosball table for challenges, a wonderful deck for enjoying the lake view, a great fireplace for cold or snowy nights, super comfy beds to catch some zzzz's and a great dog run if your 4-legged friend has accompanied you on your stay. The cabin in exceptionally clean and the owners are just a phone call away if you have any question that was unanswered in your welcome package. I highly recommend this property !! ...
