The house:
Designed with comfort and family times in mind. A large screened porch extends across the front of the house. With ceiling fans, teak dining table, comfortable rattan sofa and wooden rocking chairs, the porch provides a wonderful spot to relax with a cup of coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening.
The large great room, with vaulted ceiling, heart pine floors, wood-burning fireplace and sectional sofa, has a look of casual elegance. A TV with Dish Network Satellite and a DVD player provide entertainment. The unique glass-top dining table, which seats 8, sits on the base of a huge grapevine and overlooks the porch.
We have books to enjoy, cards and games to play, puzzles to put together, and movies to watch -- all designed for great times with family and friends.
In the backyard :
overlooking the creek and marsh, we have a wooden double swing, a hammock under the oaks for reading (or napping!), and a hot tub. The back deck has a gas grill, picnic table and comfortable Tropitone chairs, with the creek and marsh beyond. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the creek and marsh, watch the amazing sunsets, and just relax! Wildlife is abundant – fish, crab and shrimp in the creek, squirrels scampering through the trees, herons in the marsh, pelicans flying overhead, dolphins occasionally swimming up the creek, and Painted Buntings feeding at our bird feeders. For bird enthusiasts, it’s truly paradise!
The beach:
is very secluded and quiet, and many times when we walk out, we’re the only people on the beach. Eddingsville Beach is great for searching for shells, shark’s teeth, fossils and even pottery from the plantation summer homes that occupied the beach in the 1800's, until they were demolished by the hurricane of 1893. (We have several books about the history – and the ghosts – of Edisto Island and Eddingsville Beach for the history buffs in your group.)
You can get to the beach, a third of a mile away, by bicycle or walking down the Jeremy Cay causeway through this quiet gated community. Two beach bikes are included with the house rental; others can be rented locally, as can jon boats or kayaks, which allow beach access via the creek. If you have your own small boat, there is a landing located on Frampton Creek to put in, and you can dock it at our dock. Please note that property owners along the creek request that no jet skis be used in the creek.
