A hidden gem in San Francisco

Quy Brier, Washington, USA
Review Submitted: October 21, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We enjoyed our seven days stay at this wonderful house. The view, especially at night, was more than what we paid for. We made the right decision to rent a house instead of some cramped hotel. This house has everything that we need, even garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil. The kitchen is fabulous. Also are the bedrooms. They can accommodate 6 persons easily. There is only one bathroom. This is a small drawback, but the four of us managed well. The door of the bathroom does not lock well; however a little of nudity wouldn't hurt. Washer and dryer are in the back of the garage accessible through an outside stair. It was a thrill to explore the garage. Parking was easy. We parked in front of the house all our stay. The house is close to everything. Napa and Sonoma can be reached within one hour. We did go to Fisherman's Wharf but didn't buy any T-shirt. Tom, the owner, is very nice and so are the neighbors. We definitely will stay here again for the next visit. Highly recommended for future guests.
Owner's Response: I'll take a look at the bathroom door as soon as the folks now staying have left.
During the winter months we are happy to welcome guests for longer stays at substantial discount. We will provide SF MUNI transit passes, good for unlimited rides on Cable Cars, Trolley and bus lines, to our guests. Exploring San Francisco without the hassle and expense of parking is easier on the nerves, the purse, and the planet!
"Off season" San Francisco is much less crowded and a bit less expensive. A longer visit will let you experience what Tony Bennett sings about, and the included passes will take you "halfway to the stars."

Fabulous!!!

We came all the way from Denmark, Europe, weary from driving up the coast from LA, and parked in front of this PEARL of SF
It doesn't look much from the outside, but once inside you imediately feel at home. We had a wonderful week-stay and enjoyed the space, the lovely views, the fully equiped kitchen, the walking distance to Haight-Asbury and - of course - the washer and dryer being on the road with three kids.
The owner, Tom, has been very friendly and helpful all the way.
We hope to be back some time - and meanwhile dream of having a place like this ourselves :o)

We certainly recommend this house!
- & hope You'll enjoy Your stay as much as we did.

Regards, Jesper & Anne, Aalborg, Denmark
Owner's Response: The autumn brings with it the nicest weather each year here in San Francisco - the chilly afternoon fogs are much diminished and we have the warmest, sunniest days of the year. Kids are back in school so the Cable Cars and Alcatraz are less crowded and my favorite quiet, incredibly beautiful park (Muir Woods) is almost empty at the start of each day. If your schedule permits, this is the best time to visit San Francisco. If you can stay two weeks or longer we will increase your enjoyment by decreasing our rate but no matter how long you stay we will provide free transit passes for two adults and two kids so that you can ride the cable cars all night as I did on my first visit forty years ago. I've spent nearly thirty of those years being a resident tourist here in San Francisco, feeling as though I'm on vacation every hour I'm not at work. If there is something special you would like to do here, let me know and I'll try to arrange it. We have had a few guests get married in City Hall, others have enjoyed "backstage" tours of the California Academy of Sciences and nocturnal visits to Alcatraz. All of our guests have enjoyed the convenient location and great views from our "Airy Aerie" at San Francisco's Buena Vista Park. The "Vista" really is "Buena."

Wonderful location, great view of the city and bay

Fred S England
Review Submitted: April 22, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
After a 10 hour flight it was wonderful to find that the accommodation you booked from a few pictures on the internet turned out to be as good as you had hoped. The owner was there to greet us and realising how travel weary we were gave us a brief tour of the house before leaving us to democratically decide on who was sleeping where. In our democracy Parents always get first choice and therefore we selected the bedroom with the amazing views of the city and the Bay. Facilities in the house were excellent. There were four of us ( age range 25 - 55 ) and we found enough room to have our 'own space' . Six people however, may find having one bathroom - en-suite to the main bedroom - a slight problem. We found plenty of information leaflets, books etc. about San Francisco in the house which were very useful to browse on our first evening. This was our first visit to San Francisco and we found it to be an amazing place. We had the advantage of some insider knowledge of the city and it's complex transport system as our son has been living and working there for the last 7 months. Best advice is to get a City Passport ($60) which gives you 7 days unlimited travel on all Muni transport, including Cable Cars, and free or discounted entry to many city attractions. We recommend the behind the scenes tour of the AT&T Baseball Ground and the Science Museum in the Golden Gate Park. Perhaps it would be stating the obvious to say that to have a property with such wonderful panoramic views of the city, it would be situated at the top of a very steep hill (Buena Vista Park). The less fit may find the daily climb home a little tiring but there is a No.37 Community Bus from the bottom of the hill that stops close to the house. We would happily visit San Francisco and stay in this property again.

I highly recommend this house. The views are stunning, the house is spacious and equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday in the city.
The landlord is friendly and helpful, the area is wonderful.
Oh...I can't wait to come back!
Owner's Response: Why I love living in San Francisco - today I drove my daughter and a classmate to the Zoo (field trip) and followed the original route of Hwy 1 back to her school. We drove past Seal Rock and the Palace of the Legion of Honor, and through the Presidio to Pacific Heights. The weather was perfect, the views of the Golden Gate (and the bridge that spans it,) of Alcatraz, and of Mt. Tamalpais were stunning. Another perfect day on holiday in San Francisco. If you are coming to San Francisco and have any questions about planning your visit feel free to email me. I've been vacationing here in San Francisco since 1981 (except for a few hours at work each week ;) and I've formed some opinions about how to spend holiday time here (and how to spend a bit less holiday cash here!)
Enjoy your visit, and be sure to reserve a morning to experience Muir Woods.
