My wife and I stayed here for almost 2 weeks and very much enjoyed the location and accommodations. The owner (Marie) was very friendly and helpful. The cottage is well equipped - nice kitchen and bath shower - and was very clean.
Great beaches are about 15 minutes away; the Mauna Kea astronomy viewing center about 40, which is about as close as I could get (we were there to view the transit of Venus).
We plan to return sometime next year and would like to stay here again.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

Our stay at Marie's lovely cottage was just perfect. We needed a place to stay in Waimea while visiting family and attending our grandaughter's graduation from Parker School. The cottage met all our needs: quiet surroundings, very clean cottage, comfy bed, great linens, spacious but not huge, nice kitchen and bath, orchids in every room, lovely plants in the yard and easy to find from Waimea. The friendly outdoors cat was an extra bonus. Marie is extremely hospitable and we thank her for a wonderful visit.

Fabulous adventurous vacation!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time on this vacation. We used Marie's cottage as a home base from which to explore the island. We were there for a week and every morning enjoyed a great breakfast at the house, made a picnic lunch, and then headed out for the day. The cottage was a great place to return to after a day of hiking, lying on the beach or poking around small towns. Marie provided us with beach towels, mats, a cooler and even boogie boards! We purchased some very inexpensive snorkels and masks that worked great and left those there, so the place is pretty much set up for any activity you might want to partake in! The weather was cool and windy in the late afternoon/evening which was actually a nice respite from the heat of the beaches. There is some road noise from Kohala Mountain Rd., but not too bad. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found Marie to be very pleasant and accommodating. The cottage was very centrally located for all of our explorations and adventures!!

I am glad, you could assure me, that your nights were restful. This comes with my apologies indeed, for the added daytime commotion, -there was construction at our vis-a-vis during your stay:
Hawaii Preparatory Academy's Entrance near the Davies Chapel now has a Guard House.
The work was finished the day you moved out,(April 30!).
Some good news at least to that:
A "Green Zone" is open to visiting Runners and Walkers at assigned hours, starting as early as 5 am. The green zone Polo and Equestrian Fields are located across from the Cottage. Maps available at the Guard house.

Home at the rainbow

We spent almost 3 weeks at this place, wishing it would last longer. The place itself has its own atmosphere, is very clean and cosy, with a sensitive touch of the owner. Fresh air around with a view of green hills and Mauna Kea cheers you after a hot day spent at one of the best beaches on the Earth. Our little daughter especially enjoyed the garden, where she was discovering the nature of Hawaii. After some traveling on the island (btw: car is necessary here), we were really glad to choose this village and this house. It is worth flyling 24 hours to come back here again, because of this special place in the world. THANK YOU, MARIE.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Thank you for such a nice, clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay. I was in Waimea for work and it was very nice to come back to a "home away from home" where I could kick back and relax. It is nice to have a fully functioning kitchen to make your own food as eating our gets "old" and expensive. I would hightly recommend this cottage for vacation or work.
