STEWART PARK *** ZIP LINE SWING *** OUTDOOR FIRE PLACE***
Just a 2 minute walk from Big Pine Canyon is Stewart Park. Actually, this is the Stewart family property right next to Sundance where Brad's dad built a cabin in 1938. Seventy years later, the cabin was taken out by a large cottonwood tree that made a direct hit on the cabin. The cabin was torn down a few years back, but we left the original Fire Place.
The ZIP LINE SWING is a favorite of the kids. Safe but thrilling, the swing travels across the stream, up the other side of the hill and returns safely back to the other side. It's even fun in the wintertime.
The North Fork stream runs directly through this beautiful setting with eight pools and waterfalls, making this an absolute spectacular place to hang out in the summer months. Guests of Stewart Mountain Lodging are welcome to enjoy this little slice of heaven.
Streamside Trail to the Sundance Resort.
From Stewart Park, you can follow the short trail along the stream right to the Sundance Resort. We're talking maybe a 3 or 4 minute walk.
Ski:
Skiing at Sundance. Well, as Robert Redford proclaims, 'it's skiing the way it used to be'. No high speed quads here, but then the view riding the lift is sooo spectacular, you don't mind the leisurely lift ride.
This is the perfect place for beginners to advance skiers. Kids love this place, and ski school is second to none. Advance skiers hang out on the back mountain where the Arrowhead lift ascends to the summit.
The BearClaw cabin, located on the Arrowhead summit serves great food, wine, beer and snacks. On weather friendly days, the locals hang out on the deck with 360 panoramic view with a little wine and cheese and soak in the sun.
The expert terrain from the Arrowhead Summit(8200 ft.)is comparable to any Utah class ski area. Maybe not as much acreage, but the scenery makes up for it. Sundance was named one of the most scenic ski resorts in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.
Golf:
As mountain people we're not avid golfers. But,within 20 minutes of Sundance there are at least 5 great golf courses.
Soldier Hollow Golf Course - A beautiful course located where the 2002 Olympics Nordic Event was held. A 15 minute drive from Sundance.
Wasatch Mountain Golf Course - Located in the mountains of Midway, this is a spectacular scenic course. A 20 minute drive from Sundance.
HomeStead Resort Golf Course - Also located in the quaint Swiss town of Midway, this is a favorite of the locals and guests alike.
Other Activities:
Snowboarding, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Downhill/Alpine Skiing, Health Spa, Snow Shoeing, Sledding (free sleds)
