Transportation on the island:
A car is not necessary on Nantucket. However, if you choose to bring your vehicle you must make a reservation at the Steamship Authority well in advance to ensure space availability during the week of your visit. Due to the limited availability on ferries, the island offers bicycles, moped and car rentals. Additionally the NRTA Island Shuttle goes almost everywhere on the island for only $2.00per person each way. The closest stop to the cottage is 1/4 mile down the road. The shuttle runs on a regular schedule, approximately every 20 minutes. For more information on car, bike and moped rentals please feel free to call or email us!
