Famed Woodstock, a 12 mile drive, is a haven for shops, galleries and restaurants. In summer and fall, browse the outdoor flea market. Enjoy a concert at the historic Maverick or live theater at the Woodstock Playhouse. The Woodstock Film Festival, held each Autumn, is a movie lover's delight. The dates this year are Oct. 1 - 5. The quaint Village of Saugerties (8 miles), is known for it's easy access to the Hudson River for boating and sailing and is home to H.I.T.S., a major equestrian center. Saugerties hosts many festivals and events such as the Garlic Festival, Sept. 27 and 28th, and the Jazz Festival. A colorful Farmer’s Market is open in season.
Hunter Mountain (10 miles), provides a wide range of winter and summer activities. Hunter is the first of the three major ski resorts, which also include Windham and Belleayre. The Catskill Mountain Foundation offers classes in the arts and many craft and culinary events. Nature lovers will appreciate the access to hiking and fishing.
