YEAR-ROUND LAKESHORE CABIN!

Lake Vermilion Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Come to beautiful Lake Vermilion and enjoy one of the ten most beautiful lakes in the world! There are over 290 miles of shoreline, mostly glacial rock with stately evergreens, and 365 unique islands on this pristine northern Minnesota lake. In the summer and fall you can explore the lake on our pontoon boat, fishing boat, row boat, or kayaks (or rent a canoe or jet skies). World-class golf is available at 3 courses within 25 miles of the cabin (The Quarry, The Legends, and Wilderness). In the winter months, the lake is perfect for snow shoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling or ice-fishing, and downhill skiing at Giants Ridge is only 30 minutes away.

Our cabin is right next to miles of state park so the bay is quiet and undeveloped; we share it with loons and hummingbirds. The cabin sits on a rise overlooking Big Bay and Ely Island. The vista looking east takes in several smaller islands. McKinley Park, with its sandy beach, boat launch, and playground, is less than a mile down the road. The popular Northwood's town of Ely is just 20 minutes away. This cabin is perfectly situated for a quiet romantic getaway, a family retreat, or a weekend with friends.

The cabin was built in the 1950s and was remodeled 8 years ago. The kitchen is new and the main living area is vaulted to provide a more panoramic view of the lake. There is a deck attached to the cabin which overlooks the lake, and a larger deck sitting right over the water. We have a wood-burning fireplace in the main living area and a gas fireplace in the walkout level, as well as a fire pit outside. There is a beautiful spot for a hammock and a side yard perfect for yard games. For lots more information on the area and our cabin, please visit our website at northhaventower.com, or you can simply click on the link at the end of the Owner Information section below.

We bought this cabin in 2000 and just love it! Over the years, we have had family reunions, quiet getaways, and weekends with friends. The cabin is perfect for everyone. One of our daughters prefers to swim off the dock, run on the trials, kayak, ride the pontoon and camp. Our other daughter loves to read so she settles on the couch by the fireplace or on the deck with her book. Our grandson loves to feed the deer, the ducks and the birds, take boat rides, and go to McKinley Park. By early evening, we all sit on the deck for appetizers, drinks and stories before dinner. By the end of the day, we quiet down with Scrabble, card games or a good book.

Wonderful retreat on Lake Vermilion

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It was our first time ´Up North´and we were absolutely amazed by the beauty of the lake. The location of the cabin is wonderful, it is well maintained, the kitchen well equipped for many guests. We rented the pontoon boat and were positively surprised about the 2nd boat that was offered to us. Not only the kids loved being pulled ... everything was just perfect!
We will definitely do it again in fall or summer.

Owner's Response: The "2nd boat" Birgit refers to is the 14' fishing boat which is included with the rental of the cabin.

Beautiful Location for a Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5
When we arrived early, Caretaker had no problems letting us come in early. House is beautiful inside and out. had plenty of room for all 6 of us, with more room if needed for others! Property is very nice and open, beautiful deck overlooking the lake. Spent many hours on that. Pontoon is great to use when not windy and smaller fishing boat does it's job. Slow week of fishing, but we did manage 1 fish fry for dinner with some to take home. During the week you feel like you are up North by yourself. Very quite and peaceful, heard the loons, fed the deer and ducks, so we had visitors all week. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice peaceful getaway with a lot of fishing options. Thanks for the beautiful place to stay, we hope to be back one day.

Another fantastic Vermilion experience at the cabin!

  • 5 of 5
After staying at the cabin last November with some dedicated late season Muskie fishermen, I knew I'd be back. This August, I brought my parents from Wisconsin and my brother's family from California. The versatile and comfortable accommodations worked perfectly for 6 kids(4 mos - 8 yrs) and 6 adults. The well appointed kitchen and charcoal grill allowed us to cook our favorite meals. We even enjoyed a couple of sunset dinners on the big deck over looking the lake. The California crew was treated to all the delights of Northern MN- loons, eagles, ospreys, deer, chipmunks, fishing, water skiing, kayaking, and starry nights around the campfire. I would definitely recommend renting the pontoon boat. The pontoon is only a few years old and in excellent shape. It provided a plush, spacious platform for swimming, sunning, and exploring the lake with our large group. On the windy days, we left the pontoon in the boathouse and took the kids to the beach at Mckinley Park. The sandy beach was perfect for our younger children as it remained shallow and rock free for as far out as they ventured. There was also a couple of slides placed in the water that were a big hit! When the kids were tired of swimming, they played games in the big yard, fed the chipmunks, or fished off the dock. None of the children had trouble sleeping at night! We had a vacation we'll never forget!

Winter Wonderland and great location

  • 5 of 5
Four of us came up from Feb 13-25th for a snowmobiling trip. The cabin was fantastic and the pictures really don't do it justice. The weather was typical for Feb...all over the place, but we had a great time and managed to snowmobile 8 of the days. Thanks Tamra for the TV and satellite as it great to have on the day of rain and the days we were too tired to sled. The cabin was comfortable and never cold. We enjoyed both fire places as well as the fully equipped kitchen. We cooked all our breakfasts except one and like wise for dinners, having lunch on the trail at many fine places. The scenery was spectacular and we really enjoyed the International Wolf Center. We rode our sleds over 900 miles as far north as International Falls and down to Crooked Lake by Isabella just to name a few. We did not see a moose, but we had deer in both the front and back yards every night, so we picked up some deer food in Ely and kept them well fed. We also saw several fox and even a few eagles. The trails for the snowmobiles were very nice, but we could have used a little more snow while we were there--although they had some of the best conditions ever the week before we arrived. It was great to have wireless available so we could keep in touch with our families back home. The cabin has the most extensive collection of books I have ever seen in a place you could rent and you could spend the whole summer and probably not get through a quarter of them. All in all a great place and would gladly return again and highly recommend any time of the year.

Fabulous lake front home

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from a week at North Haven with my family. Could not have been more pleased with this rental. Ample space for everyone to move around. Great lake front location. We rented the pontoon for the week and did plenty of exploring on the lake. Also had fun with the fishing boat and the kayaks. My family and I have done the "up north" weekly vacation for many years and we all agree that this was our favorite location yet. Thank you Tamra for welcoming us into your home and we hope to be back next year and many years after!!!

A GREAT WEEK

  • 5 of 5
My son, daughter-in-law and I spent a week here the first of June. We found the property and area to be first rate. It was a blessing to spend the time fishing and enjoying the area. I would recommend it for a

family vacation. The house provided us with all our needs and we plan to return.
