Villa Accetta is an aristocratic family home of great charm directly on the Gulf of Gaeta, halfway between Rome and Naples. The spacious two-bedroom apartment with a private entrance and terrace overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The villa offers visitors a peaceful escape in its lush gardens and on its private beach with chairs and umbrellas. Broad terraces and generous windows give visitors panoramic views of the sea and the medieval city of Gaeta across the bay. Built on Roman foundations, the historic villa sits above the fresh-water spring called Artacia Fons that flows into the sea. Homer, Dante, Virgil and Ovid all wrote about this spring, where Ulysses and his crew found drinkable water after months at sea. The villa is only minutes from the station in Formia, where trains whisk you north to Rome or south to Pompeii in less than an hour, making it a delightful home base for exploring all of central Italy.

The Ulysses Riviera, on the Mediterranean Sea about halfway between Rome and Naples is an area of great beauty and amazing historical importance. Many of the great patrician families of the Roman Empire had their summer villas on this coast, and the wealthy families of Rome continue to escape the city to villas along the beach and in the hills. The Gulf of Gaeta offers water sports galore, from swimming to sailing, snorkeling and sail-boarding. Or, if you choose, you can lie by the sea, soak up the sun, and relax. The two towns adjacent to the villa, Gaeta and Formia, offer wonderful restaurants that serve seafood caught daily in the bay. The towns also have fascinating Roman ruins to explore, along with medieval churches and many shops filled with goods made by local artisans. Rome and Naples are about an hour away by train, making Villa Accetta an excellent home base for exploration of the big cities and all their wonders, without having to deal with the traffic.

Visitors can relax on the terrace or on the private beach, or explore the ancient ruins that dot the landscape of the whole region. Parking is adjacent to the property, but it is only minutes from the train station, and connections to Rome or Naples and beyond.
