The Dome Home is pet friendly, please ask. The home features three bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a spacious kitchen, dining area seating for 8, a large great room, separate family room, and two large decks. Amenities include two cable TVs, VCR, patio furniture, and a gas grill for outdoor cooking. Enjoy our quiet cove with a private dock and crystal clear water. The dock provides both ample room for sunbathing and a canopy for lounging in the shade. There is a stationary dock with lights and 120 volt outlets. A floating dock provides easy water access and boat docking. The home features quality furnishings, an open floor plan with a spacious dome-shaped skylight in the great room. A large master bedroom, roomy twin bedroom, and full and half bath are on the mail level. The lower level houses the queen bedroom, full bath, a comfortable lounge with bar, and laundry room. Both levels open to large party decks. Central air conditioning and heat are provided.

The Dome Home is located near the Dam, lake marker R1, on Smith Mountain Lake, in Bedford County, VA. Enjoy live music at local restaurants where you can dance till the 'wee' hours. Just 15 minutes from the Dome Home is the state park with sandy beaches, 14 walking trails, live music, and much more. Smith Mountain Lake is about 40 miles long, and offers 500 miles of waterfront shoreline. Enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains, Peaks of Otter, and the D-Day Memorial, the Booker T. Washington National Monument, and the charming town of Bedford from our conveniently located lakefront home. Smith Mountain Lake may be reached by car in 45 minutes from both Roanoke and Lynchburg, Virginia. It's three hours from Richmond, VA, two hours from Greensboro, NC, and 4.5 hours from Washington, DC..

A marina is located close by for the rental of boats, jet skis, and a variety of other water toys. Come for a week or longer. Starter paper products and basic condiments and spices are provided. Please bring your towels and bed linens. Reduced rates are available for extended stays. A security deposit is required at the time of booking. No smoking in the house, please. With prior permission dogs are permitted. Sorry cats are not allowed.

After deciding to take my 2 grown kids, their significant others and my dog to Smith Mtn Lake, the search was on for a property that would suit our needs. The Dome Home filled our requirements. The floorplan of this home gave us the togetherness we wanted and the privacy that kept our sanity. The living area on the main floor with 2 bedrooms was great..then downstairs had it's own living area that gave us what we needed. The property is waterfront with a great dock, boat rentals are available nearby and the neighbors on the street were extremely friendly. I'd highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a comfortable and spacious home away from home.

Most relaxing vacation ever

I have spent the last 4 yearly vacations at Smith Mountain Lake, but this year was the best, thanks to the owners of the Dome Home. I didn't want to spend another vacation in a motel. Finding the Dome Home was great. The house was perfect for us, 4 adults, one teenager and a spoiled little dog. The house was far enough from everything to relax but close enough to make shopping and sightseeing easy trips. We spent every evening sitting on the dock, listening to the water lap against the shore watching the stars. The days were filled with water sports, shopping, sightseeing and eating. The house was well equiped with everything we needed. The kitchen was great to work in, compact and well stocked. The house was clean and well maintained. The views from the decks were wonderful. Your choice of restaurants were all close and all provided good food and service. The state park was near and easily accessible by car or boat. The home owner was pleasant and helpful with directions and information on attractions. The neighbors were friendly and offered assistance if needed. We have told all our friends about our SML vacation and looking forward to next year.

Great location, house needs updating

Smith Mountain Lake is a lovely vacation spot for families who enjoy boating, jet skiing and water fun. We had a great time and were fortunate to have perfect weather. The home itself is clean and comfortable for 6-8 people, and in a lovely, established neighborhood. Evening walks, long family dinners, and fishing off the dock were daily activities for us. The home was constructed in 1980 and has not been updated since - the kitchen, bathrooms, appliances and decor are very dated and some furniture is in disrepair. Conveniences that are considered basics today in rental properties, like a DVD player, cordless phones, a more fully stocked kitchen (wine glasses!), deck furniture, and internet access are lacking. The owners should consider adding some more current amenities to make visitors stays more comfortable.
