Bass Harbor Village:
Bass Harbor is located on beautiful Mount Desert Island, Maine. It is the perfect bast to explore all of Mount Desert Island's Villages and Acadia National Park without all the crowds. The Seamist Cottage Apartment is located on the Island Explorer Bus Route which will makes stops in Southwest Harbor, Bar Harbor, and numerous places in Acadia National Park. You can get on & off the bus directly in front the Seamist Cottage making getting around the island enjoyable and stress free.
Bass Harbor is a picturesque working fishing village. The Seamist Cottage Apartment is a lovely 2 minute stroll to the harbor. The harbor boasts (2) seasonal restaurants, a model ship/book store, the ferry to Swan's Island and the Bass Harbor Historical Society Museum. In every season, it is a lovely place to take a stroll, watch the boats, and skip a stone in the water.
Acadia National Park & MDI:
The lovely Seamist Cottage Apartment is minutes from the famous Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonderland and Ship Harbor Trails of Acadia National Park. Echo Lake Beach is a 10 minute drive. The Park Loop Road, with access to Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, Thunderhole, Asticou Gardens is a 20 minute drive.
Southwest Harbor is 3 miles away, Bar Harbor is 17 miles. The village of Bernard on the west side of Bass harbor is home to Thurston's Lobster Pound and the Portside Bookstore.
