A review requires a poet to capture the beauty and serenity this river house offers.
When I stepped out of the car and breathed in the crisp air, in that moment I planted the seeds of many future vacations. And in the same moment I remembered it was my husband's 40th birthday, so my typically anxious psychology kicked in, as I looked up at the house from the gravelly driveway, to ruin the moment as I thought, "Oh, God, we can just barely afford this vacation, I hope it's everything the owners advertise it to be." It is. And more:
You walk up the stairs from the driveway and come to a white gate that opens to the deck. The deck is surrounded by a fence (if you have kids or a dog, you immediately feel the warm-cozies knowing they've got a safe space to play within eye-shot and ear-shot of you). It is decorated beautifully with a bar-height table and umbrella - perfect for enjoying the view of the river. You, as well, have a large dining table with an umbrella. The jacuzzi sits on the corner of the deck and cannot be praised enough: clean, well-maintained, pleasantly not-too chlorinated, and a view so gorgeous that you don't want to move from that spot, ever. It is pure luxury. If we had to sleep on the deck in a tent, the price of this vacation would absolutely be worth it. But, there is a gorgeous house that goes with this to-die-for deck and jacuzzi.
As you walk in, the first impression is, "immaculately clean." Any anxiety I had about the house being as nice as the photos just evaporated. It's an understatement to say that it's better than the photos. The windows open to a view of the river and lush vegetation. I stood at the window for a while, before going anywhere else in the house, to enjoy a woodpecker, a look back at that windy road from where we just came, the mountains, and savored the sense of what the owners appropriately named this place, "An Exquisite River Paradise."
There is a formal dining area on the first floor, beautifully decorated, so well-maintained that you'd swear you were the first person to ever use it. I'd describe the kitchen exactly the same way. The only sign that anyone has ever stepped foot in the kitchen comes from an ice bucket, elegantly placed on the corner of the kitchen's island, with a complimentary bottle of champagne chilling on ice, and two champagne glasses waiting to be filled.
The front bedrooms open to a view of the river, are beautifully decorated, exceptionally comfortable beds, and immaculately clean. The same of the large bathroom with a 2-person jacuzzi tub.
You'll love it.
