Lovely Beachfront Home in Tranquil Setting

We could not be happier with our stay at Yaax Che'. The owners were fabulous in their communication and were extremely prompt to answer our questions and follow up during the rental reservation process. The house is superb!
We spent early mornings drinking our coffee to the most spectacular sunrises I have ever seen. Our evenings were spent viewing the sunsets which were equally amazing. The house is comfortable, cool, fully equipped and meticulously kept. The kitchen is spacious and the beds are super comfortable. The pool is a delight to cool off in during the day. The location is ideal. It is quiet, safe and convenient to Progreso. The ocean just behind the house is calm and perfect for swimming, snorkeling or fishing. We saw many interesting sites by driving the area in our rental car. Uxmal and Celestun are not to be missed !!! We also visited many small towns and other coastal communities. We could not be happier. This place is paradise on earth !!!

What an adventure!

One of my favorite things to do was shop. Who would have thought that I would need to bring an empty suitcase for all the clothes and shoes I bought in the department stores in Merida. We drove the 35 minutes to Merida almost everyday to check out different stores, restaurants and local attractions.

This is a vacation like no other I have ever been on. It was completely different than an all inclusive resort - you buy your own groceries, cook your own meals (that is when you aren't eating at a beachfront restaurant in Progresso, or at a restaurant over looking the square in Merida), and you clean up after yourself (I even made a trip to 'lavanderia' to do laundry. I promise the memories you make here though are so much greater.

You need to wear shoes when you walk on the beach, but the shells you'll find and the animals you see are fantastic.

Something else I really enjoyed were how friendly the locals were. Nobody stares or gawks but everyone tries very hard to help even though I admit even a spanish phrase book didn't help much, but when you do a little pee dance they point to where the washroom is.

Relaxing is not how I would describe my trip, however all of the sightseeing and shopping were things I wanted to do - I think I only spent 2 out of the 14 days at the house without leaving.

Another thing I really enjoyed was drinking tequilla (which is and Im not kidding cheaper than some brands of water down there) on the patio at night after a long day out, and knowing exactly what to expect - nothing, just the quiet sounds of the waves, crickets, and lizard love songs!

Speaking spanish on the trip would definitely be a plus, since no one speaks english . This trip is not for everyone, like I said this is very different from an all inclusive, you have to fend for yourself, but that is what makes this part of Mexico so special - and between you and me I'm happy it's not for everyone otherwise it wouldn't be the way it is.
