Comfort and Accessibility for Active Older Adults: This wheelchair accessible home has a single level design with ramps to the main house, game room and pool deck. It has wide doorways with special door handles and an accessible shower that measures 40' x 90'.

Eco Friendly Home Allows You To Be Good Stewards: Eco Friendly solar water heating and energy saving, and solar powered exhaust fans save energy and minimize the home's carbon footprint. Our high efficiency, high capacity washer and dryer automatically adjusts water levels and temperatures to each load. The detergents are also high efficiency formulas; just a little goes a long way. Kitchen appliances are energy efficient. We recycle waste like mixed recyclables - bottles, cans, paper; green waste and trash. About Julie

I've lived in Hawaii since 1976. I have always lived on the Diamond Head side of the island.

In 2007, I was invited to dinner at my friend Ken's home in Kailua.

I looked forward to a leisurely drive through the Koolau mountain range, towering some 3150 feet in some areas above the valley floor, to Kailua....in 'the country.' No matter how many times I make this drive, I am struck by the diversity of the island and the breathtaking view when you emerge from the tunnels in the mountains and see the view of the ocean and northeast side of the island. I drove through the little town of Kailua and turned down a long driveway framed by lush Hawaiian plantings. I immediately felt the privacy of the property.

My first impression as I walked into the large entry room was the relaxing feeling of this lovely, open Hawaiian home. As I was shown around the home and property I remember remarking to Ken the house had a calming and peaceful presence.

The first night I spent in the home, with the ceiling fans slowly turning and the windows open, the sound of the ocean lulled me to sleep. I awoke to the tropical birds singing and was struck by the quietness of this side of the island and the neighborhood.

Why Julie chose Kailua

Three years later, in April of 2011, I had the opportunity to buy the home. I love that the home has so many private areas, where people can feel alone, but be together on one property...out by the pool or in the spa, sitting in the garden area, relaxing in a bedroom with the windows open and the fan slowly turning or with the air conditioning cooling the room, relaxing in the large entry room while reading on the day bed, cooking in the large kitchen, or relaxing in the beautiful living room on the Hawaiian Punee (day bed) enjoying the beautiful Hawaiian gardens through the large windows. It is the perfect Hawaiian open air style home for multi generational families who are meeting to enjoy a vacation in 'paradise.' Imagine all this plus a beautiful white sandy beach with azure colored water only a 5 minute walk away! I enjoy sharing my home with my guests who are visiting the beautiful Hawaiian Islands!

It is appropriate to call this a Kailua Beach house because it is closer to the popular but uncrowded, gorgeous beach than most people are able to park. It comes with boogie boards, kayaks, pool toys and bicycles. You don;t even need to pack beach towels which helps eliminate more than one suitcase per person, It is well furnished and maintained and very roomy. We were a party of 9, including two 2-years and a baby. We brought toddler blow-up beds so the twos could sleep in the room with their parents. The accommodating owner supplied a crib for the baby. With older children, you'd use the daybed and trundle In the games room and give them their own space. Great kitchen too. This is the best of several we have rented to bring together a family from three different states!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities

Great Vacation

This is a fantastic vacation home! Julie was a wonderful host and was very accommodating even as I spoke with her at 3am due to flight delays. She allowed us a late checkout during our departure to accommodate our small children napping as well. Our party of 5 adults, a 3 year old and a 4 month old had tons of space around the property. The pool and hot tub were perfect to relax in after a day at the beach which was only a 5 minute walk to the water's edge. The kitchen was great and well stocked with everything you could ask for including high end, sharp knives. The game room with pool table was a nice bonus but we spent most of our time while at the house sitting outside around the pool cooking on the very clean grill. Kailua is a great base for exploring the entire island as well. There are decent restaurants in town but you're also only 20 min from top-notch dining in Honolulu. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful Vacation Home !!!

My husband and I live in Kaneohe and rented the home for family that visited from Louisiana. We could not have picked a better place to rent. My family were so much more comfortable here than if they stayed in a hotel. The home is large and is stocked very well from the kitchen to beach equipment. The pictures just don't do it justice. We enjoyed coffee on the lanai in the mornings and the hot tub in the evenings after a long day. My husband and I slept on the day bed in the living room and were very comfortable there. We enjoyed meeting Julie and want to say thank you for sharing your home. We would absolutely rent this home again ! Mahalo, The Murai's

Amazing Vacation

The perfect vacation home. Were so happy that we choose to stay here. Julie met us there and from then it was simply amazing. She has the warmest aloha spirit and makes you feel right at home.The house was all ready with music playing, sweet smells and everything so nice and clean. As for the amenities, everything you'll ever need on a vacation. For the outdoor/beach/pool activities, I was amazed with all the gear that was available. The pool was so refreshing and the jacuzzi was so relaxing. The landscaping was beautiful. The game room was a big plus, it kept the kids entertained as well as the adults. Pool table and dart board for the adults and all kinds of miscellaneous toys for the children. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we are looking forward to going back in the future. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for the perfect vacation.
