Charming Little Casita - Very Convenient
Submitted: January 25, 2011

I rented the Casita for a month from mid-November to mid-December 2010 and really enjoyed my stay there. Although I've seen Church St. Cafe mentioned on a couple of reviews there are lots of really good options for food within walking distance including Monroe's, Garcia's Kitchen, Duran's Pharmacy (they have a small restaurant in the back), Cucina Azul (slightly more upscale), and the Little Red Hamburger Hut (regular burgers are available but their specialty is made with local red chile - be prepared if you try it, they are spicy delicious!). Of course, it's got a full kitchen and most of the utensils you need to cook up your own meals if you like.
As noted, Old Town is a stone's throw away and Camino Real Imports on Rio Grande is a great place to get good deals on Mexican glassware, rugs, tin mirrors, furniture, and talavera pottery so shopping opportunities are ample as well.
The landlord was friendly, hands off, and worked with me to allow my dogs to stay - a necessity in my case. Great little courtyard, plenty of parking, park and museums are across the street, and because it sits behind another house, it is very private. All in all, I'd highly recommend it for vacation or longer term rental.
