Fabulous Sunsets

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is one of the best places I have ever rented. It is a rustic log cabin / house and the inside which was furnished out by the owner is beautiful. The layout is quite accommodating and very well-equipped. It was immediately warm and cozy and every bit a home. It was well stocked with whatever we needed and it was the perfect amount of seclusion. The owner put a lot of thought into making it a great place to stay. The location is excellent. Ken was amazing helpful and I would recommend this place over and over again. Our days were spent hiking, snow-shoeing, skiing, shopping, and relaxing in front of the warm fireplace. The deck was a great place to view the stars and watch the hummingbirds and rabbits! We were sad to leave as the area was breathtakingly beautiful and the weather was perfect! Also many accessible hiking trails including one right outside the back door. If you come in the winter, a good four-wheel-drive is definitely recommended, as the driveway is a 1/2 mile long. I can't wait to come back and stay here in the summer!!!!

Private mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was in an excellent secluded area outside of town. It was nicely appointed with everything you need. We enjoyed warm fires, bunnies, birds, hiking, and just enjoying the peace and serenity. We loved seeing the beautiful sunsets and the eagle take flight from the meadow. If you want to get away and commune with nature this is the place. Ken was easy to work with and we had no problems at all.

Love it!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our first vacation without kids! Did I really say that? Wonderful to be just far enough away from town and neighbors and enjoy the nature but have the ability take part in the wonderful town of Pagosa! Wonderful weather to sit out on the porch and watch the hummingbirds and chipmunks play.

Privacy, Nature and Relaxation!!!

  • 5 of 5

Let me start by saying that we had a great week in the seclusion of this property. It is about 20-25 minutes from Pagosa, which was great for us since I did not want to be around any people! (We live in a rural area, but this place is almost deserted!!!) The house needs a little TLC, but the scenery and the opportunities for hiking and nature more than made up for the minor issues we had. I WILL RENT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN IF KEN ALLOWS ME TO & GIVEN THE CHANCE TO VISIT PAGOSA IN THE FUTURE. IT IS THAT GOOD OF A VALUE!

Just a few tips:

Bring your camera, I took nearly 600 pictures.

Bring your hiking gear, head toward the back gate and veer to the right. Walk down the slope down to the valley floor, turn left (north) and follow the cow path alongside the old railroad bed. Take pictures and drink more water than you think you need!

Cell service is hit & miss, except for underneath the huge spruce tree in the valley behind the property!

Reserve your spot on the Cumbres and Toltec train, the scenery is spectacular and the provided lunch is the best meal we had out all week! Turkey & jalapeno corn bread dressing will be on my table this Thanksgiving!!!

Get out and drive some of the county roads if it is not raining, especially Plumtaw Rd. You don’t even need a 4x4 or higher clearance vehicle for most of them and you will get some great views.

Take a day to explore Pagosa. Eat the tomato basil soup at Boss Hogg’s, even the kids loved it!

Again, thank you sharing your property with us, we had a great time and hope to return again soon!

PS: Say HI to the chipmunks for us!!!!!

Great Time Away!!

  • 4 of 5

My family of 5 booked this beautiful get away and at the last minute my Mother-In-Law decided to come along. I was a bit concerned about the space but it worked out perfectly and there was plenty of room! It is very secluded and quiet! The drive to town isn't far but seems to take quite a while.....but it is SO worth being outside of the hustle and bustle of the tourist crowd. Upon arrival there were a few concerns I had but the owner got them taken care of very promptly and our week was fabulous! My kids (4,8 and 12) didn't want to leave! We have been going to Pagosa for years and usually stay in the Fairfield Resort. Usually by the 3rd day we are ready to leave.....not this time! The sunsets, walks (adventures) and evening drives around the back roads near this little place are memories that my family will cherish forever! There is one drawback that turned out to be a blessing in disguise.....don't expect to have cell reception or wifi. The wifi will work for a minute and then the signal is lost. There is a land line that family can reach you on....it too is a little fuzzy but serves its purpose. I encourage anyone looking for a place of rest, relaxation and family time to check this place out.....you won't regret it! It is truly a home away from home!

Owner's Response: Christina, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Pagosa truly is a beautiful place and we also love to get out of town and a bit closer to nature. The internet router that was causing your troubles has been replaced, so hi speed internet is back on. Hope it wasn't to much of an inconvenience for you, we'd love to see you visit again some day. Thanks again. Ken.
