Notes: The Hoot 'N Holler is a pet-friendly home for your 'other' kids. Pets will enjoy walking the many trails with their owners and the Hoot provides a great natural environment for your pets! In autumn, winter and even in spring the nights can get quite chilly and you'll be toasty-warm by the fireplaces, but there is also central heat. We're now air conditioned too! Experience total relaxation in the 6-person hot tub, enjoy breathtaking mountain views and fresh, fragrant mountain air on the lower deck which offers a picnic table, porch swing and rocking chairs. If RR&R are your thing (rest, relaxation and reading!), we offer a variety of adult and children's books and magazines to spend a few hours or days with, and videos for the kiddo's as well as family entertainment. A cocoa latte machine, Belgian waffle maker, a variety of spices and crock pot are provided for comfort foods on chilly evenings. Whichever way you choose to spend your time at the Hoot, it will be time well spent!

Further details for this vacation cabin rental in Maggie Valley, North Carolina

What to Do in Maggie Valley?: Even though Maggie Valley is a quaint and charming town, it is also a growing area with many things to keep you occupied. In the town are restaurants, gem-mining, pottery shops, Wheels Through Time Museum, Ghost Town in the Sky amusement park, Soco Zoo and Queens Farm horseback riding stables, among others. Although the Hoot 'n Holler cabin is not a ski lodge/resort, we're near one! In winter, Cataloochee Ski Lodge offers respectable skiing and just off U.S. 19 is the fun-filled Tube World tubing range. Maggie Valley is also an ideal place for bikers to bring their Harley's and tour the area. To the west is Cherokee with Harrah's Casino, the Cherokee Indian Reservation and of course all their beautiful handmade wares. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 2 minutes from the Hoot 'N Holler and has many exits to explore including Waterrock Knob, Clingman's Dome, and numerous waterfalls. We have a wonderful Visitor's Guide at the Hoot with lots of interesting things for you to see and do!

What Else To Do?: Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park all year in 2009! Maggie Valley is just a short drive to the doorway of the party! If you feel like venturing outside of the area, take I-40 east and there is Asheville, home of the Biltmore Estate and Gardens, winery tours, and of course SHOPPING! Enjoy white water rafting in our rivers or tubing! Springtime in the Smokies is a glorious time with buds and blooms bursting out all over, and corvette afficianados will appreciate Vettes in the Valley every spring. During autumn, most of the surrounding towns have a celebration of Fall of some sort. Craft shows, apple festivals, street dances and the like are prevalent in Waynesville which is just around the corner from Maggie. Historic Hendersonville is about 30 minutes away and is yet another don't-miss area to see. To view the elk at Cataloochee Valley is about an hour's drive. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Dollywood are a little over an hour away.

Satisfaction Guaranteed!: We have had the privilege of renting our home to many, many happy and satisfied folks since 2001. We specialize in customer satisfaction, and our support team consisting of Housekeeping, Maintenance and the local area business people help us to look good! We have found that some weeks and/or choice weekends do tend to fill up quickly, and we have several repeat renters who reserve their time about a year in advance. If you have desired dates in mind, please call or email to set up your reservation to avoid disappointment. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: In October of 2009 a rock slide occurred on I-40 near the Tennessee/North Carolina state line. For drivers traveling to NC from Tennessee, you may be affected by road closures on I-40. Please see the Dept of Tourism website at Visitnc.com for complete details and alternate routes if this affects you. However, western North Carolina is 'open for business' and we are ready to serve you.

Other Activities: miniature golf, sports grills and restaurants, shopping, gem-mining

Absolutely Fantastic!

Stef, Chris, and Abby Gulf Shores,AL
Review Submitted: November 21, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
Shari and Dave,
We can't say one negative thing about our experience at Hoot n Holler. Your home is amazing! From the decorations to the hot tub, we wouldn't change a thing. We felt so at home and comfortable with every need met. We forgot to bring tin foil, and guess what? Shari had some there. Shari even called to check on us because Tropical Storm Ida had visited NC, left alot of rain, and messed up the roads to the Hoot pretty bad, and she was worried about us. The guy that handles grading the roads up there got them all fixed up the day after we arrived, and made them much better. My little dachsund, Abby, had a blast too. We really appreciated being able to bring her with us since she is our "child". We can't say enough about how wonderful we were treated. Shari even returned our security deposit within a week! We will definitely stay at the Hoot again when we return to NC. Thank you Shari for sharing your heart and home with us. You are a wonderful human being and we are blessed to have met you!
Owner's Response: Stef, Chris and Abby, you're truly very special people! The times I had the pleasure of talking to you, you seemed more like a sister than anything and I felt as if I've known you for a long time. We're glad the storm didn't goof up your vacation and yes, Michael is very, very conscientious about keeping our roads in good shape and he's been a big help to all of us on the mountain. We're watching for your pictures and can't wait to put them up on the bulletin board. Thanks, guys, for everything and Abby, you tell Mom you want to come back up to the Hoot soon!
Dave & Shari :)

Top of My List

Baboo1 Bradenton, FL
Review Submitted: November 15, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Hi. We stayed at the Hoot in October and it started out kind of bad. The weather was horrible, our dog got sick in the car and our 3 year old had a cold. I called Shari to tell her we may not be staying the whole time and OMG that was the best phone call I could have made. She offered a full refund and asked if we wanted to come another time and even tried to help us get a doctor appointment for our little girl. Anyway, our daughter was better the next morning and our dog got over it so we decided to stay.

This was one of the best times we ever had and all things considered, if it wasn't for the kindness of the owner and her real concern for what was best for US, we would have gone back home and had a bad memory. The cabin is perfect for relaxing, creating real family time and so comfortable. The crock pot was good for making my chicken soup for my daughter and she loved the hot chocolate in our Welcome Basket. I think the fresh mountain air helped get her better quicker too.

My husband enjoyed taking Buster for walks and the exercise did all of us good. The house has everything in the world you want or need and the view, spa, fireplaces and cozy-ness was all it took to hook us for another visit back to the Hoot this next year. Thank you Sherry and Dave for everything you did to make us comfortable, and we're glad we decided to stay for the whole week. We will see you next year for sure!
Julianne, Mark and Kellie Anne
Owner's Response: Julianne, Mark and Kellie Anne, trust me, we know exactly how sometimes a monkey wrench gets thrown into your plans but we're just so thankful it all turned out so well for you. We're glad you stayed too and it was our pleasure to help. You all take good care of yourselves and we will definitely see you next year! Shari & Dave :)

The BEST month ever!!!!!

The Artists Jacksonville, Florida
Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our month at the “Hoot” was the best vacation we’ve ever had. We will definitely return.
We are retired and were looking for a place that we could spend time painting the mountains.
There were so many sight-worthy vistas…..that even in a month we couldn’t capture them all. You can find a few scenes at VincentsFineArt.blogspot.com.
The cabin is so close to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. and the Smokey Mt. National Forest. and tons of other places. The mountains are so cool and comfortable that they gave us extra energy to enjoy our surroundings.
The weather cooperated for most of the month and when it didn't we shopped in Waynesville and in all the wonderful quaint neighboring towns. The “Hoot” had all the amenities we needed. It was comfortable, clean, and best of all, we felt like we belonged. We were safely tucked away from it all. You just can’t beat the hot tub. Dave and Shari are our new friends who made sure that all our needs were met. I just can't say enough good things about the cabin or about Shari and Dave. Our experience was wonderful.
We also went horseback riding at Cataloochee Ranch, visited the Indian Museum and village in Cherokee, saw elk, bear and deer that came up next to the car, and of course visited every potter from Asheville to Maggie Valley. The River Arts District in Asheville brought us back about four times. We saw well known artist, Jonas Gerard, demo his work. While in the River Arts District don’t miss the ribs at “12 Ribs.”
There is truly something for everyone. I 'm starting to think about our return trip already.
Thanks again Shari and Dave. You guys are the best!!!!!
Owner's Response: Joanne and Vin, you and your family and little pup are always welcome at the Hoot! Thank you so very much for choosing our home for your month-long base of operation, and to be just a smidgeon of your inspiration for all those beautiful paintings is truly an honor for Dave and me. We can't wait to view your art on your website, VincentsFineArt.blogspot.com and who knows...one of them just might find a home at the Hoot! Thank you again for your friendship and your trust and confidence in staying with us! We hope to see you often - the look of the mountains changes with each passing season! Take good care, Shari & Dave :)

Great Vacation and Excellent Owners!

Jessica and Scott Summerville, SC
Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Me, my Husband, Father N Law, and 2 Daughters vacationed at the hoot. It was a wonderful and beautiful experience. This Cabin was nicely tucked away in the mountians and offered a great view from the balcony. We found ourselves waking up early every morning to drink coffee and wacth the sun come up over the mountians from the balcony. After a long day of having fun in Maggie Valley we returned and relaxed in the hot tub outside. There is a string of beautiful lights that you can turn on outside and help set the mood while in the hot tub. This cabin was stocked with just about everything. From a first aid kit to a whole cabinet full of stuff to keep my 2 girls busy. I was very impressed with the time and care they put into this cabin. They also took very good care of me and my family. We felt very welcome. We will most definately come back agian next year!
Owner's Response: Jessica and Scott, dad-In-law and girls, we want you to know how much we enjoyed having you all stay with us at the Hoot! We specialize in providing just about everything you could possibly want or need in a vacation home and we're absolutely thrilled that you all didn't lack for anything. Remember that the best years of your lives are ahead of you and if you can come back up to the mountains for another memorable vacation in the future, we'll be here for you. Thank you so much for coming!

Rest, Relaxation and Incredible Views

The TV People Jacksonville, Florida
Review Submitted: July 17, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This place has been incredible! We have thoroughly enjoyed the cabin, and have recommended it to friends. Hopefully, you will be getting some inquiries from Jacksonville very soon! Thank you for providing such a
nice place, and such great amenities. Your waffle maker works amazingly well! So well, in fact, that my husband went out and bought me the same brand while we were here!! The crock pot made a great pulled pork loin, and
the grill fired up some great hamburgers. The girls and I made homemade bread, cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies in addition to lasagna and omelets. We ended up getting more groceries than we needed (ate out a few
more times than we anticipated), so I was thrilled to see the note about donating any leftover food to some low income seniors.

While we were here we went to Dollywood, Cherokee Oconoluftee Village, Biltmore Estate and Chimney Rock, saw "The Producers" at the Waynesville Performing Arts Center, drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway, went horseback riding and still had time to teach 2 teenage girls how to cook some amazing meals.

This cabin was perfect for us. The girls had "their own place" downstairs and we had plenty of room upstairs. Having Wi-Fi internet was a huge plus! The girls loved the hot tub and the fireplace (even in July!) and we all had a rousing Clue tournament. (Poor Mr. Green!) Having so many games, books and magazines right here in the cabin meant there was never a "nothing to do" night.

I have to say, we have stayed at a number of places here in the mountains over the years, and not one has compared to the Hoot N Holler. The views, the amenities, the owners(!!), the housekeeper, everything and everybody is top notch. Even the ride up and down the mountain became fun! Blessings always, Lori, John, Christie and Brittany.
Owner's Response: Hi Lori, John, Christie and Brittany! I showed your Review to Dave and he about flipped out! We can't begin to thank you for your truly amazing review of our cabin and your trip... and we are grateful that you took the time to post it on our website! Most of all, we are humbled, sincerely, in that you and your family chose to stay at the Hoot over all your other choices. We're not perfect but we strive to provide all of our guests with what they need and/or want to make their time in Maggie and the mountains all that they expect. Also, your pictures will DEFINITELY get put up on our bulletin board! We thank you and your wonderful family for staying with us, and we surely know you'll hear the call of the mountains again one of these days. God bless you all, and please keep in touch with us! Dave & Shari.
