Maggie Valley Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6-8 (8 if small children)

What's it like to touch a cloud? At 4350 ft high elevation with long-range mountain views, the Hoot 'N Holler vacation rental cabin located in secluded Smoky Falls way above Maggie Valley can show you! Decorated in a style of owls and other woodsy themes, our cabin is sure to bring a smile to all who enter. The 'Hoot' offers everything you need including an outstandingly equipped kitchen and living area upstairs with woodburning fireplace and 42' plasma HDTV & DVR; and a cozy game room with wet bar, TV, and another WB fireplace downstairs. The upstairs master bedroom features a king-sized bed; downstairs sports a queen, each with its own full bath. There are also two comfortable pullout queen sofa-sleepers by the fireplaces. A Pack 'N Play is available on-site for the small fry, and a washer and dryer are provided for your convenience. This is a great home for couples, families with children who want their own space, or for an affordable and unforgettable vacation with friends.

What to Do in Maggie Valley?: Even though Maggie Valley is a quaint and charming town, it is also a growing area with many things to keep you occupied. In the town are great restaurants, gem-mining, pottery shops, Wheels Through Time Museum, miniature golf, Soco Zoo and Queens Farm horseback riding stables, among others. Although the Hoot 'n Holler cabin is not a ski lodge/resort, we're near one! In winter, Cataloochee Ski Lodge offers respectable skiing and just off U.S. 19 is the fun-filled Tony's Tube World tubing range. Maggie Valley is also an ideal place for bikers to bring their Harley's and tour the area. Ghost Town in the Sky has reopened and now features a ZIPLINE for you thrill-seekers! To the west is Cherokee with Harrah's Casino, the Cherokee Indian Reservation and of course all their beautiful handmade wares. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 2 minutes from the Hoot 'N Holler and has many exits to explore including Waterrock Knob, Clingman's Dome, and numerous waterfalls. We have a wonderful Visitor's Guide at the Hoot with lots of interesting things for you to see and do!

What Else To Do?: Sleep in late every day and savor your coffee and Danish on the upper and lower decks at the Hoot if you feel like it! Or, if you feel like venturing outside of the area, take I-40 east and there is Asheville, home of the Biltmore Estate and Gardens, winery tours, and of course SHOPPING! Enjoy white water rafting in our rivers or tubing! Springtime in the Smokies is a glorious time with buds and blooms bursting out all over, and corvette afficianados will appreciate Vettes in the Valley every spring. During autumn, most of the surrounding towns have a celebration of Fall of some sort. Craft shows, apple festivals, street dances and the like are prevalent in Waynesville which is just around the corner from Maggie. Historic Hendersonville is about 30 minutes away and is yet another don't-miss area to see. To view the elk at Cataloochee Valley is about an hour's drive. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Dollywood are a little over an hour away.

Satisfaction Guaranteed!: We have had the privilege of renting our home to many, many happy and satisfied folks since 2001. We specialize in customer satisfaction, and our support team consisting of Housekeeping, Maintenance and the local area business people help us to look good! We have found that some weeks and/or choice weekends do tend to fill up quickly, and we have several repeat renters who reserve their time about a year in advance. If you have desired dates in mind, please call or email to set up your reservation to avoid disappointment.

PLEASE NOTE: I make a point to answer all inquiries so if you do not hear from me within 24-36 hours, please check your SPAM file as unfortunately that's where a lot of emails end up.

About Shari Edelman

Dave and I have owned 'The Hoot' since 2001 and have enjoyed every minute of our stewardship of this property and the land it sits on. Our guests that come through our doors obviously share the same feelings because they keep coming back! Dave works in Sales and I'm a Flight Attendant in my 'other' life so contact with people and making sure they are happy and satisfied are very important to us. Please come stay at the Hoot and enjoy what we have been so blessed to share with you.

Shari Edelman purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Shari Edelman chose Maggie Valley

You know what it feels like when you see something or meet someone and the pit of your stomach says 'yup, this is it' ? We looked at lots of properties and at first glance, the Hoot spoke to us even before we got it ready to rent to folks. The atmosphere is amazing, the view is amazing, the people on the mountain are amazing and you will definitely catch 'mountain fever' once you've been to our Valley.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hey Shari. Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time. That is a beautiful place you have and are glad you share it. There was a little bit of snow when we got up there but it was all gone by Saturday. It was perfect though. It was a much needed get away that was perfect for our anniversary. We were lazy the whole time and stayed there with a fire going. Thank you again for everything. Kyle D.

2009 Beautiful Mountain Christmas!

  • 5 of 5
Our Florida family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hoot! There was more than enough room for us,our Christmas tree and presents! We enjoyed having access to the internet, two televisions, two fireplaces, hottub, two balconies, and the most comfortable beds ever! The views were spectacular in the morning from both levels of the Hoot, with the way the clouds roll in through the valley, and the views are even more breath-taking in the evening as the sun sets. The mountain neighbors were helpful and interested in our safety and comfort during our stay, which made us feel at ease with the mountain terrain and travel during the winter weather (snow/ice). The Hoot is very private and secure, as we had no worries of safety or protection during our stay. We enjoyed the towns of Maggie Valley/Cherokee/Waynesville very much; all with easy access for shopping! The Blue Ridge Parkway with its beautiful scenery and waterfalls is extremely close to the Hoot, along with Asheville, Grandfather Mountain, Chimney Rock, Gaitlinberg/Pigeon Forge Tennessee! Our children had a blast at Tube World, a local hotspot for snow-tubing!! Shari, the Hoot's owner, was a delightful breath-of-fresh-air person to do business with and our family will most definitely do business with her in the future!! We will recommend the Hoot and Shari to anyone wishing to have a beautiful and peaceful mountain Christmas or any other time of the year visit!! We could not have asked for a better "home away from home"!!

Owner's Response: Sid, Amy, JT and Bailey, Dave and I truly appreciate your words and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to write! We feel we know you as family since you've had your Christmas reservation for nearly a year! We were so glad you were able to experience a "Mountain Christmas" complete with cutting down your own tree, not to mention taking care of our fireplace! You all are one of our most special, and memorable families for us to meet and know, and even though you had more than your share of snow and ice during your stay you also had a tremendous amount of determination and willingness to experience Mother Nature at her best, and at her worst! Trust me, spring, summer and/or fall aren't quite that intense and we look forward to your next stay at the Hoot with the same level of anticipation as in the past. You take good care, Sid, when fighting those fires, and come back soon. Your friends, Dave & Shari :)

Unforgettable Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Shari and Dave, We will be talking about our time at the Hoot for years to come. I stepped out of the car after a day of travel and just smiled at the cabin and the view. I thought I might not want to leave my chair on the deck, the view was so relaxing. Our daughter arrived the next day and had the same reaction. I can't think of one thing I would change. It was as perfect as a vacation can get.
The motorcycle trips were outstanding and we now understand why motorcycles almost outnumber the cars you see on the highway. We definitely came to the right place to enjoy some relaxing, scenic trips on the bike. We also found a number of breweries and sampled some great beer. Everyone was extremely friendly in the area.
A special treat was pulling off Highway 19 and seeing 3 elk where the dirt road begins. We're excited to come back for a visit as long as you can promise a bear will make an appearance!
Thank you so much for sharing the Hoot with us; it was a pleassure getting to know you. Look for a new glass owl in the cabinet as Tom just couldn't resist adding one to the collection. We hope to have the opportunity to visit again soon. Carol, Tom and Megan (the Hoeflt/Hillard family)

Owner's Response: Tom and Carol!!!! WOW! THANK YOU for letting us know about your and your daughter's time up at the Hoot and we are extremely flattered at your comments! Thank you so much for taking the time to review us! We really try very hard to think about the cabin not as a business, but as a cabin in the trees to share with anyone who wants to partake in the mountain beauty and solitude as well as recharge time in Maggie Valley. So we put stuff in the house that we'd like to have when Dave and I find time (!) to get up there and hope everybody else likes the additions. Speaking of "additions"..... we're going up to the Hoot first part of next month for a few days and I can't wait to spot your owl in the cabinet! Tom -- you're an old softie apparently and I've had guests say their kids make a game of counting all the owls we have in the cabin and someone came up with 200. Well now we have 201 and a HUGE THANK YOU for that!!!! Oh yeah... we'll be sure to place a stuffed bear on your bed if nothing else next time you come in haha! Please make plans to come back any time and we'll be more than pleased to take care of you again. Have a great fall and thank you again for writing about us! We appreciate you..... Your friends, Shari & Dave :)

Great house, great owner!

  • 5 of 5
It was a trip of firsts for my family and I (me, wife and 2 boys, 11 & 14). We had never rented a house like this, we'd never stayed in the mountains and we had no idea what driving up to a house like this would be like. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. The location is so central to white water rafting, the Blue Ridge Parkway (on-ramp 2 miles away, really) and Asheville. We did them all! That said, staying home was awesome too. The view was spectacular and the kids loved the hot tub at night. At first, the drive up the mountain was a bit hair-raising for my wife who doesn't like heights but after awhile we got used to it. Just know that you're on very steep, very windy, very narrow, unpaved roads all the way up. I never felt unsafe at all though and I drive a small Hyundai that did fine with the grades. Each time I interacted with the owner it was a pleasant experience. The upstairs TV was a bit on the blink and she even kicked us back some extra on top of our deposit which I thought was unnecessary but great.

Some things to know... Asheville is about 45 min away. The Blue Ridge Parkway is very close and if you head towards Asheville, the hike up to Waterrock Knob (about 15 min up the parkway there is an exit for it) was absolutely worth it. Thanks Shari for that :) White water rafting is about an hour away in the Nantahala River. We went with a company called Paddle-in Rafting. They were less expensive than NOC (the big operator i the area) and were amazing to us.

Owner's Response: Robert, a huge THANK YOU for taking the time to write such a fantastic Review for our little cabin! We're glad we met your expectations, especially since this was the first time you've been to the mountains and rented a vacation home. You'll be pleased to know that for your NEXT visit to the Hoot, you'll be able to enjoy a brand new 42" flat screen TV upstairs and new satellite box that, we guarantee (!), will not give you any type of hassle! Our guests' comfort and amenities are paramount to us and we again apologize for not having a working TV upstairs but your gracious attitude about that was appreciated. Refunding you the "extra" was just the right thing to do for your inconvenience. It was our profound pleasure having your family stay with us, Robert, and I'm sure your detailed Review outlining all the cool places your group was able to check out will help other visitors with their vacation plans. Also, now that you know the drive up to the house isn't all that bad, I hope you and your family will want to come back and spend more time with us at the Hoot - just let us know when you can get away again. Have a great summer!

winter get away at Hoot-N-Holler

  • 5 of 5
The view was breathtaking! We were a little concerned prior to heading to the cabin because they had gotten so much snow the previous week, but it had mostly melted by the time we got there except for what Cataloochee Ski resort was making and of course the Maggie Valley TubeWorld experience. We loved the home the hot tub was awesome to relax in after a log day of excursions! Very homey and comfortable. We used the fireplace and game room one night then spend the next night upstairs enjoying the view and playing games and planning our next day. Very reasonable price and beautiful property. The driving directions were perfect! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! we will definitely tell our friends about it and may even plan to come back in the fall to see the leaves change!

Owner's Response: Hi Christina! We thank you so very much for taking the time to tell everyone how much you enjoyed Maggie Valley, and your stay at the Hoot! And most of all we're very happy you had no issues with the snow! Mountain traveling in the winter is very different than any other time of year and we make every effort to inform our guests of the preparation involved. We're very glad you were able to enjoy the area and do all the things you had wanted to do... and the Fall time of year is picture-perfect for photo shoots, georgeous cool weather and of course fireplace and hot tub enjoyment! Christina, I enjoyed the pictures you sent me and will be putting them up on the bulletin board at the Hoot. We certainly would love to have you all back in the fall -- just let me know when and we'll get you back up to the Hoot! Have a wonderful summer, Christina, and we thank you again for your friendship. Take care!

Our Perfect Family Get-a-Way Place, Repeat Visitor

  • 5 of 5
Our family has stayed at the Hoot n' Holler twice for Christmas, 2007 & 2013, once for New Year's in 2012, and once during the Labor Day weekend in 2010! I think that this clearly sums up how much our family loves the Hoot n' Holler and it's gracious and loving owners! The Hoot is very cozy, yet spacious and nestled among the trees of Balsam Mountain! My husband and I could not get enough of the morning views from the second-story balcony; the clouds rolled in through the valley from as far as the eye could see like a giant wave of cotton! Peaceful! From the Hoot you can hear waterfalls in the distance too! The walks that our family takes are so serene and the views that each curve of the road offers is breathtaking! Also, the Hoot is just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which offers tons of sightseeing areas to pull off at, mini hiking areas, waterfalls to see, and tunnels to go through....oh, and the views are spectacular too! We took a trip to Gatlinburg, via the Cherokee Indian Reservation and the Smoky Mountain Parkway, and the views there are also stunning! Newfound Gap is a must see! Ober Gatlinburg is just around 40 miles from the Hoot; Ober offers ice skating, a petting zoo, snow boarding and snow skiing, a scenic chair-lift up the mountain another 1500 feet or so and this, to us, was worth the price of admission into Ober. Pictures don't show how gorgeous the views are up there; a must see in person! Maggie Valley is where the Hoot is closest to and Tube World is there for snow tubing! We took our 20 and 15 year old and they had as much fun this time as they did their first time! We all took a trip to Asheville, about 45 mins. from the Hoot, and went to their mall! It's huge! Chirstmas shopped our hearts out! Our family just loves the areas of Maggie Valley, Waynesville, and Asheville so much! The Hoot is perfectly located for us to visit all surrounding areas with ease and have availability to participate in many activities! Although, when we did choose to stay in for the day, the Hoot was comfy and cozy with both fireplaces crackling and the hot tub bubbling! We made country breakfasts and dinners each night in the fully equipped kitchen! For some reason, food tastes better at the Hoot than at home; we eat so much while we are there!!!! When it's time to leave the Hoot, it is hard for each of us. We hate to leave a place that takes away our stresses, relaxes our mind and spirit, and brings our family together so easily. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Amy, Sid, Bailey and JT ---- your Review made me so PROUD to know you guys, both as my guests at the Hoot but more importantly, as my FRIENDS !!! Everyone who stays with us is special but your family has always held a very important piece of my heart since your first stay up in Maggie. Sid, you being a fireman right there shows how much of a caring and resourceful person you are, and Amy you are the driving force behind him and you are an exceptional mom to the kids. I think Bailey and JT are making some really special memories from you bringing them up to the mountains! I can't thank you enough for your loyalty to the Hoot; and for you to love it up there more than anyone who's ever stayed is quite a tribute to what Dave and I are trying to do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to write such a memorable Review and please know that we appreciate it so very much. It gives us the fortitude and desire to continue to provide the best that we possibly can for all of our guests, and thank you for being our very special friends. We really will have to meet one of these days!!!! :)

Comfortable, clean, great view and value

  • 5 of 5
A friend and I stayed in the cabin this past summer for our yearly girls getaway. We were in love with the place as soon as we pulled in the drive. The cabin is private with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and glorious sunrises. Very quiet. It had all the amenities we needed. The cabin is not super fancy but it is very nice, homey and comfortable. We enjoyed grilling out on the deck and spending time in the hot tub.

The location was perfect for us. We are outdoors people and it is an easy drive to the national park, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Nantahala River. Not far from Asheville, either. Best of all, it was away from all the traffic and chaos. We spent a good deal of time in the Smokies, rode our bikes, went rafting and lots of hiking.

Great place for a small family or girls vacation.

Thanks so much!

The Hoot 'N Holler is situated in very secluded Smoky Falls, about 3 miles from the heart of Maggie Valley. The charming towns of Waynesville, Dillsboro and Sylva are within a 20 minute drive. Shopping in Asheville and the Biltmore Estate are only about 35-40 minutes away. The entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 2 minutes away off U.S. 19. The town of Cherokee with the Oconaluftee Village is about 30 minutes on U.S. 19, and Dollywood, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are approximately an hour from your door. Our roads in Smoky Falls are gravel and easy access most of the year; however, 4WD and/or chains are strongly recommended for winter travel here, or anywhere in the mountains.

Other Activities: miniature golf, sports grills and restaurants, shopping, gem-mining and coming soon: ZIPLINING at Ghost Town in the Sky!

The Hoot 'N Holler is a pet-friendly home for your 'other kids'. Pets will enjoy walking the many trails with their owners and the Hoot provides a great natural environment for your pets! In autumn, winter and even in spring the nights can get quite chilly and you'll be toasty-warm by the fireplaces, but there is also central heat. We're now air conditioned too! Experience total relaxation in the 6-person hot tub, enjoy breathtaking mountain views and fresh, fragrant mountain air on the lower deck which offers a picnic table, porch swing and rocking chairs. If RR&R are your thing (rest, relaxation and reading!), we offer a variety of adult and children's books and magazines to spend a few hours or days with, and videos for the kiddo's as well as family entertainment. A cocoa latte machine, Belgian waffle maker, a variety of spices and crock pot are provided for comfort foods on chilly evenings. Whichever way you choose to spend your time at the Hoot, it will be time well spent!
