YELLOWSTONE GETAWAY ON THE MADISON RIVER

West Yellowstone Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath Cabin + Studio apt., (Sleeps 8)

'Check out our Video in the top left corner of the main picture.'

Our custom built, 1600 sf cabin, which we affectionately refer to as 'The Fishing Shack', was completed in the fall of 2008. An additional 350 sf studio apartment was completed and will be ready to rent for the 2013 season. The property is located on the Madison River, known for its majestic beauty and world class fly fishing. The cabin is a gorgeous, 30 minute drive to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park and about an hour to the winter hot spot, Big Sky Ski Resort. With its fabulous location, reclaimed barnwood floors, custom kitchen, 3 flat screen TVs, a Jotul wood-burning stove, and floor to ceiling windows, it is a magical vacation spot certain to deliver year round fun.

The master suite has a queen bed with pillow top mattress, flat screen TV, French doors opening to a 5 person Bullfrog Jacuzzi Tub overlooking the river, and a custom built pebble shower with dual shower heads (including a rain head). There are two bedrooms upstairs, each with log bunk beds (twin on top & queen below). Open the windows and let the smell of the mountains and the sound of the river lull you to sleep. The open loft has a cozy seating area, a third flat screen TV with DVD player, and Game Cube system for the kids (and the kids at heart). Directly on the river, you will find a large fire pit perfect for staying warm and making s'mores while watching the fishermen in your family catch that big brown just feet away.

Our cabin is located 30 minutes from Ennis and 35 minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It is situated in a friendly residential community with about six other homes and delightful neighbors. It is across the river from a Forest Service campground and a short walk to the world famous 'Grizzly Bar & Grill' (you must sample their delightful wine selection).

Our location is perfect for year round Montana fun and adventure. In the winter, spend your days skiing the famed slopes of Big Sky Ski Resort, snowmobiling in West Yellowstone, cross country skiing on miles of pristine trails, watching the bald eagles soar above the river while soaking in the jacuzzi, or simply enjoying the beauty of the Madison while curled up with a good book by the wood burning stove. Fill the long summer days with activities such as fishing from the property, floating the Madison, exploring Yellowstone National Park, hiking beautiful mountain trails, horseback riding, listening to live music while sipping local wines and soaking in the Norris Hot Springs, experiencing an authentic Montana rodeo or riding the antique railway in historic Virginia City.

We hope you enjoy our cabin as much as we do, and we look forward to sharing the beauty of Montana with you.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Hello Dave, Here are my comments added to your listing… All true “We have always wanted to Visit Montana, and this cabin was the icing on the cake! The pictures on this site do not do it justice! It is not only a beautiful place to stay but a great place to relax. We enjoyed the river, lots of fishing from the property and rafting down the river. The drive to Yellowstone was only 35 minutes and well worth it! The owners were wonderful to deal with; my deposit was returned very promptly. I am definitely staying there again. We have been lucky enough to travel all over the world and this was one of the BEST vacations we have taken!!” Will talk to you In March to book again next summer J Thanks,Robbin

Great family vacation!

  • 5 of 5
Loved staying here with my family. Amazing area, beautiful house and great access to fishing and Yellowstone. Having coffee on the deck, Learning how to fly fish with my father (right on the river in the backyard), and the picturesque drive to Wade and Cliff lakes were my favorite things. Can't wait to go back to Montana, and when I do I would definitely stay at Heather and Dave's house again.

Wonderful location on the Madison!

  • 5 of 5
We loved the cabin! It was so beautiful, with nice decor and amenities. We used this as a base to travel to Grand Teton NP & Yellowstone NP. We spent a day in Ennis, another day in Virginia City, and some time at the Norris hot springs. Loved everything! The Grizzly Bar & Grill right near the cabin has FANTASTIC food; closed on Tuesdays. There was another restaurant right near the cabin, but it has closed. We did go to the Lakeside Lookout Bar & Grille (between the cabin & West Yellowstone)- it was also terrific. My husband fly-fished in the Madison right outside the cabin, so he was in heaven. Tip- if you fly in to West Yellowstone airport, go to the town of West Yellowstone (10mins away) for groceries/supplies before heading to the cabin (~30-40mins from airport). There are no stores/gas stations near the cabin. There are many businesses in Ennis, but that is 30 miles past the cabin. A very enjoyable trip!

Amazing Property; Great Family Stay!!!

  • 5 of 5
We have visited Yellowstone National Park a number of times, but this is the first time we stayed in an individual's rental property. With the right property, this is definitely the way to go! This property provided plenty of room for my own family of six and another family of four that we were traveling with. We did not feel crowded in the least. All of the beds were extremely comfortable--truly felt like home, not like a hotel. The kitchen was very well equipped as well. We brought a blender with us and found the cabin already had one. The furnishings were homey and plentiful (as in places to sit) but also fit the surrounding mountain environment so well. We found there to be plenty of fluffy towels, and extra blankets when people got cold. Having a washer and dryer was a real help to us, as it allowed us to wash some items to make it through the rest of our road trip. The amazing scenery around the cabin called us outdoors often and did not disappoint. What a pleasure it was to recline on the deck, soak in the hot tub, or play corn hole (that we brought with us) while being right on the Madison River surround by gorgeous mountains. We went in to the park several days, drove to the Tetons one day, fished in a lake very close to the cabin, and made so many great memories. It was very sad to pull away from the cabin and return to 'real life'. We are ready to go again!! I appreciate this family sharing their property with us. It is truly a gem!!!

It was soooo great. Very spacious and nice.

  • 5 of 5
It was the perfect blend of rustic touch with luxury features. The master bedroom suite has a great tiled walk in shower with multiple shower heads which made for a really relaxing experience.

The deck is right on the river and there is a hot tub on it that was very nice for a dip and watching the stars and meteor shower at night.

The beds were very comfortable and our whole group was very happy with the accommodations.

Also the owner was immediately available by phone and very helpful. He was very workable considering we had a craigslist rental lined up that flaked on us once my whole party arrived in west Yellowstone. So I was able to set up this accommodation with him and with very little inconvenience. And it saved our vacation to the park. I can't recommend this place enough, I will be staying there each time I travel through from here on in.

We loved everything about the cabin! It was cozy but plenty roomy enough and it was obvious the owners had spent a lot of time and effort trying to anticipate everything you might need. I actually say an eagle fly right by the window! Very cool!
