Anchor Lodge located on the Southwest cape of Alligator Point, was built in the 1950's to escape from South Georgia to the soothing Gulf breezes. Currently, the fourth-generation of the owners are enjoying family reunions to the Point. The 3 bedroom house is on one level which is ideal for retirees, and children. Oak trees line the yard while the terrace with 50% shade allows for some great 'therapeutic' time to relax. There are no hotels, bars, and other tourist attractions to disturb you. It's kind of like being in the country at the beach!
Anchor Lodge has 3 bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen & 1 Full) with sleeping room in the living room on 2 futons and 1 convertible bed.
There are 2 full bathrooms, one with a shower/tub the other with standing shower. However, most of our guests prefer to bathe in the outdoor shower on the back deck, especially after a long day on the beach.
The stocked kitchen offers a variety of cooking supplies to create a culinary masterpiece. A large dining table that seats eight comfortably and a breakfast bar with room for three, offer seating for larger parties.
There is also a washer and dryer in the pump house on the back deck that also holds a variety of beach chairs and toys.
The beach side patio is a favorite for lounging in 50% shade, taking a afternoon cat nap in the hammock, or watching a beautiful Gulf sunset. Stairs from the patio lead to a private walk to the beach. They are easy to access and allow for quick dips in the ocean, especially at low tide when the sand bar is out. After dark sea turtle safe patio lights allow for a continued outdoor experience, but we suggest taking some time in the dark to count shooting stars!
Alligator Point is on of the few dog friendly beaches on the Gulf Coast allowing for your K-9 friend to enjoy all the beach has to offer. Please observe local leash laws with all pets. Pets are allowed with a deposit.

My name is Lewis Oliver, my parents built Anchor Lodge in 1955 as a summer home to escape from the South Georgia heat. I grew up spending many summer days at Alligator Point with my family. Now my own children and grandchildren have gotten the chance to experience Alligator Point as well.
My parents chose Alligator Point because it was a very small private beach located close to our home.
The small, family oriented beach allows for a beach experience that is unique and will last a lifetime.
Alligator Point is a very secluded beach that offers a very close experience to nature. Chartered fishing options are available at the Alligator Point Yacht Basin and the Rocklanding Marina in Panacea. A short drive to Apalachicola offers great antique shops and shopping. Amazing golfing is offered less than 20 miles away at St. James Bay Golf Course.
