1880 historic home, fully modernized in historic downtown adjacent to Tryon Palace gardens/shops/cafe. Home is all about comfort, southern charm, modern amenities & has 4 gas fireplaces (living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms) a loft sleeps 3, eat in kitchen, beautifully furnished throughout. HDTV (2), high-speed Internet access included. All restaurants/taverns/cafes easily walkable as is waterfront/marina. Golf is plentiful, boaters have 2 public boat launches within 3/4 mile. There are 2 porches and lovely private fenced, landscaped backyard. Weather gets better & better after Labor Day, perfect for golfing, boating, fishing & biking. Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Cape Lookout Nat’l Seashore, ponies of Shackleford Banks and Carrot Island within 40 minutes drive. Bird watching at Croatan National Forest, NC Aquarium, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum all nearby. Come down, park the car, walk/bike everywhere, Relax and be a townie for a week, month, season

November/December is great in the Carolinas: Very warm, may not swim but wading/walking on the beach is great. Christmas is special in the downtown area and still fairly warm!! Avg. High / Avg. Wonderful place!

We stayed for the weekend. You can park your car and walk to everything....Tryon Palace, Historic District, Waterfront, Pepsi shop, etc. The house was wonderful and we absolutely loved it. Upon leaving I asked my 2 children what was their favorite thing about New Bern (Keep in mind we did a ghost tour, ferry to Shackelford Island and saw dolphins on the ferry ride) and they said at the same time, "The house!" They loved the loft upstairs. The owners have thought of everything for anyone visiting their home. They even have a book with places to visit and restaurants they recommend, We can't wait to visit again!

1880 Smith House in New Bern, NC

We had an absolutely fabulous time during our five days in New Bern, NC. The house was more than we expected. It looks just like the photos and is stocked with all kinds of things a visitor might need. I am still in shock that the price was so reasonable and I thank the owner for making our experience affordable.
Only highest praise for this quaint house!

Beautiful Home in New Bern

My family has been traveling to New Bern for several year's to visit the beautiful town and specifically the annual Ghost Walk. This home provided a convenient location where the whole family could stay and walk to the historic district, Tryon Palace and local restuaurants. The home is lovely, full of character and is quiet and quaint.
We could not have asked for a better location to spend a long weekend! I highly recommend this property. We will be staying here again!

Labor Day Weekend 2009

Very nice and comfortable home to vacation in. Lots of amenities. The owners thought of all your needs. Just take your suitcase with clothing and go. New Bern town is a quiet relaxing place to visit. Everything to see is in walking distance. If you need medical care, as we did, the local emergency center is 1 mile away with the emergency room and hospital attached. We were treated quickly considering the waiting room was full. I work for a doctor in Pennsylvania and she stated the discharge report was outstanding and we got really good care. We hope to return in the summer of 2010 with friends so that the may experience the "New Bern" charm.

The Smith house is charming and very comfortable. It is amply equipped and supplied for the renter. We did not want for anything while staying there and highly recommend the Smith House and the Wesleys. All transactions went smoothly and security deposit was returned promptly upon completion or our stay. Enjoy the home and enjoy the area, we did. Listing was accurately described, clean and well maintained. The Wesleys provided prompt, excellent customer service. We have already recommendeRestaurant and the fresh seafood restaurant a short walk from the Smith House.
