Castel Dali is an imposing but eminently livable castle located midway between the historic cities of Girona and Figueres (home to flamboyant Salvador Dali and the equally flamboyant Dali Museum). Rich in excellent restaurants, charming villages, chic shopping and diverse cultural outings. The imposing four-story building is the focal point of the quiet village. Some sections of the castle date to the 11th century and it has welcomed kings, queens and other aristocrats over the centuries. The building frames a central courtyard, and the four floors are linked by a spiral staircase in its own tower. Ten bedrooms (plus 10 bathrooms) make for a most inviting and comfortable home base. For very large groups the neighboring annex can add three more double bedrooms. The plunge pool is large enough for a cooling dip, while for serious swimming and water sports the Costa Brava beaches and Mediterranean are only 20 minutes away.To the west are lush volcanic landscapes and nature reserves.
