Thanks so much for making our stay so comfortable and relaxed. The guest house is perfectly appointed and the patio delightful. We really enjoyed our trip to the wineries and Solvang. Santa Barbara's wharf was great for lunch and the Botanical Gardens a nice place to relax and walk. . We'll be telling our friends in L.A. and back in Boston about your guest house.
Thanks Again, Michael and Deirdre
We spent 10 very fine days at this guest cottage. The owners could not be nicer people. The property is located in a peaceful, quiet setting surrounding by a very pleasant garden and very nice, friendly four legged furries (dogs) who love to come for a visit. Our various family members and friends who stopped by to visit were equally impressed by the place. If you drive, plan to go home with orchid plants from the nearby orchid nurseries and make sure to check out the chocolate shop and wine shop side by side at the north end of Carpinteria. Owner Jim also sent us to a well known locals dinner place, the Palms.
My husband and I spent a wonderful week in this cottage in May. Everything was very clean, we had everything we needed. Chris was very helpful with suggestions for things to do without getting in our way. A great area for hiking, wine tasting and walking along the beach. Fun shops in town, too!
What a beautiful retreat. Very private, quiet and secluded. I looked forward to returning to the cottage each evening after being out sightseeing and visiting my son. Really felt like a home away from home.
We could have stayed some more and then stayed some more. What a delightfully, pleasant experience. Ordinarily my septuagenarian wife and I, after being away five days to a week, are eager to return to our own ocean front resort area (New Jersey/Atlantic City) residence. However, after a 24 day stay involving Thanksgiving with our Santa Barbara son and the nursing school graduation of our daughter-in-law, we did not find ourselves longing for our loving residence but desiring to remain on. Only prior commitments at home led to our ambivalent departure. The numerous prior positive comments have really said it all ,save for one, which I can only question the commenter's remarks as those of someone who was too quick to judgment. We can certainly endorse all the previous positive reviews made regarding the quiet, secluded location and the absolute friendliness of our hosts, the comfort, cleanliness, and amenities of the cottage in a wonderful bucolic setting. And most surprising, was that we had all of this at such a bargain price relative to other VRBO's . Hopefully our stays at future VRBO's will be as wonderful and I question whether we would ever consider a hotel stay again.
Not for us we were expecting a secluded guest house with a private deck and spa for a romantic getaway. What it turns out to be is a guest house at the end of their driveway right next to their house, Their is no privacy unless you stay indoors it's a nice house but your right next to theirs if you go outside your in their backyard. I had asked for more pictures her reply was ( " I don't have any other pictures, because I do not know how to post them. I know, that is really dumb. We live on an acre and up a private road. Very nice much nicer than the pictures. The deck has a small table and 2 chairs. Read our guest comments. The guest house is on the same property, however you will not see us and we don't see you. It is the way the houses sit on the property " ) NOT TRUE. We got their within 5 minutes the owner knocked on the door and proceeded to enter the house with 2 dogs leaving his shoes on after we were told by his wife who we had been dealing with to remove ours what's up with that ? When we asked about the deck and spa he took us out back and showed us the patio and spa both of which are visible from their house the spa sits very close to their patio which is a raised patio he commented that you could not be seen in the spa when they are on their patio this comment was very strange. We live 30 minutes from Carpinteria we've stayed their many time usually down at the beach however this weekend we wanted a romantic getaway from the kids something for us it being winter this looked nice we were lead to believe this was a hideaway cottage with a private patio and spa this is noting like that. We left within 10 minutes we felt like we were staying in a strangers house with them home very awkward and creepy obviously we are the minority judging from the reviews I did read them but the pictures and her assurances it would be secluded led us to book it we got a room for the night at the Holiday inn and went home the next morning.
We stayed at the cottage several weeks ago, and realized I should write a review!
Simply put: The owners are friendly, thorough and have adorable dogs who love to come visit.
You can sit outside with your breakfast/coffee under the rose bushes and vast fruit trees.
The interior is clean, beachy, and very comfortable with cute decor.
If you want a quiet cottage, peace, fresh air, but two minutes away from downtown Carpinteria, this is the spot!
We biked everywhere, and enjoyed ourselves immensely!
