Just south of the Pyrenees and inland from the sparkling Mediterranean lies Catalunya, a region of rugged hills, verdant forest and rushing rivers, a rocky coastline with craggy cliffs and secret sandy coves, colorful villages, and historic towns. The variety of living spaces indoors and out gives everyone the option of being together or finding some peace and quiet. Whitewashed walls, cool tiled floors and a colorful but uncluttered décor make for a relaxed ambiance. Bedrooms are spacious, most of them with a balcony where you can step out to savor the fragrant morning silence or admire the countless midnight stars. A discreet distance from the house is the generous size pool, with its shady pool house nearby. Less than 10 minutes away is the medieval village of Besalú, one of the true gems of Catalunya, with its shops, cafés and restaurants bubbling with local life. Less than half an hour takes you to historic Girona or to Figueres (home to the flamboyant Salvador Dali museum).
