|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
The Treetops at Shipwatch, located just 19 miles from historic downtown Charleston, on Kiawah's West Beach, is just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean (you can hear the surf from your bedroom), and within a short walking distance to the Straw Market, The Cougar Point Golf Course, tennis courts, shopping and restaurants.
This two-bedroom, two-bath oceanfront villa offers a light and airy beach feel with all the comforts of a luxury home...hardwood flooring throughout, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a full size washer and dryer, original artwork, wireless high-speed internet and a huge, 55" Samsung flat-panel TV & DVD/soundbar in the living room.
The master comes complete with a king-size bed, a private balcony overlooking the treetops, flat-panel TV/DVD combo and its own private bathroom. The second bedroom offers two queen-size beds, a private balcony, a flat-panel TV/DVD combo and its own private bathroom. Both bedrooms offer fine Egyptian cotton sheets, down-alternative duvets and down-alternative pillows, all on comfy, pillow-top mattresses.
The Treetops offers limited ocean views from the living room and the large wrap-around balcony off the living room. The villa is located at the end of the hall on the top floor (4th floor), so it is very private.
Getting to the beach couldn't be easier. Just ride the elevator down to the first floor and it opens at the boardwalk to the beach. Right across the parking lot is the Straw Market with shops, a restaurant, and ice cream parlor. The Sanctuary and East Beach are a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute bike ride from the villa. There are more than 30 miles of paved bike trails that meander all over Kiawah. Bike rentals are available.
The "Treetops" accommodates up to 6 people. No smoking, no pets.
Need more room? Our 2-bedroom villa, the Sandpiper and our 1-bedroom villa, Vista are both located within the same building.
About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways):
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.
Along with lovely (somewhat limited) oceanviews, the Treetops offers 2 bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens), 2 baths, hardwood flooring, updated decor/furnishings, a 55" TV/ soundbar in LR and custom-built master dreambed – it is a dream vacation destination.
The villa was well equipped for all of our needs. Having the bikes, beach chairs and boogie boards, right at our fingertips, when we arrived was especially great. All of the bike trails were well kept and easy riding. The access to the beach was great! Information, in the villa, about Charleston and surrounding restaurants was very helpful. I would liked to have had more bath towels available so we didn't have to do a load every night (that was like being at home not on vacation). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our daughter had to have wheelchair access everywhere and even getting to the beach was easier than I expected.
This was our family's first trip to Kiawah, and we had no idea what to expect. We were so happy with Treetops at Shipwatch, and we couldn't have asked for a better location or nicer villa! Kiawah delivered on everything we had heard from friends, and Shipwatch was a real find. The villa is perfectly situated on the island with a private boardwalk to the pristine beach, which was never very crowded. And, it's a very short bike ride in one direction to the little Freshfields shopping center with restaurants, grocery and shops, or in the other direction to the Sanctuary Hotel. In a pinch, there's also a restaurant next door, as well as an ice cream shop. The villa was very clean, comfortable, modern and completely stocked with everything we needed -- the kitchen is well appointed; beach towels were very much appreciated; linens are all very nice! The bedrooms were cozy and quiet, we all slept very well. We also enjoyed relaxing on the balcony overlooking the ocean. We appreciated the binder prepared by Jeanette and Shawn with all their recommendations and ideas. Our two children, ages 8 & 11 loved the villa, too. We all felt totally at home. This was a wonderful and completely worry-free Spring Break. We plan to return!
Shawn and Jeanette made this a special weekend for my boyfriend and I! Very romantic and quiet getaway on the ocean front at Kiawah. The view of the ocean from the balcony while limited was excellent. We watched loads of Dolphins playing and feeding in the waves as we enjoyed out bottle of wine from the balcony! Villa is excellent.
Our visit at Shipwatch Viila was fantastic. Everything you need is included. Accomodations were very clean, neat and the beds were fantastic! Shops, grocery stores, and restaurants were very close. Biking, beach, golf all at your finger tips.
We were very happy and highly recommend Shipwatch Villa at Treetop.
This, our second stay with Kiawah Island Getaways, we were joined by our daughter and son-in-law. The Treetops Villa welcomed us in a perfect state of readiness. We were greeted by music, a streaming photo montage of the island and a personalized note, a wonderful first impression. The Treetops space was impeccable, comfortable and roomy with a thoughtful floor plan for privacy. The unit was stylish, contemporary and cozy in decor. This, a corner unit with three separate balconies allowed for an outdoors-in feeling and a nice cross breeze. Whether you choose to prepare a meal or not, the galley kitchen stood ready and stocked. The baths were bright, pretty and updated, in perfect working order with plenty of very nice towels. You will find all your beach needs, from towels to a cooler, basket and more tucked away in a closet, along with a fun collection of books, games and dvds. We liked the modern touches of technology, wifi, sound bar, entertainment systems in all rooms and state of the art (easy to use) Nest thermostat We noticed and appreciated the smartly placed lighting throughout the villa. The Lawson's three ring information binder with menu, directions and such was a helpful and nice touch. We will definitely return to beautiful Kiawah and rent this or another unit from Kiawah Island Getaways again! Rent with complete confidence from Kiawah Island Getaways.
Our family vacationed in an oceanfront Shipwatch condo for several years before buying a condo further up the SC coast. My husband and I missed Kiawah so we rented Treetops for a getaway weekend. The condo is well appointed and attractively decorated. The bed, bedding and towels were luxurious, the kitchen was well equipped; Kiawah Island Getaways even provided beach chairs, beach towels, a beach bag and a cooler! The fresh flowers on the table were a really nice touch!
The condo's view of the beach and ocean is limited but you can enjoy the view from the living room balcony. We prefer West Beach to East Beach; it's less developed and less crowded on that end of the island.
We dined at Hege's in Freshfields Village Friday night and loved it! Dinner at Jasmine Porch at The Sanctuary was also enjoyable, but the highlight of Saturday night was drinks on the verandah at the Ocean Course clubhouse. What a view!
Kiawah is a great vacation place!
We have rented with Kiawah Island Getaways 2 years in a row in 2 different units. Both the Vista last year and Treetops last month were beautiful with lovely views of the beach. Kiawah Island Getaways is easy to work with and everything we signed up for has been there. The units are spotless, totally equipped and reasonably priced from the unit itself to rented equipment. We will be back.
