Trastevere area Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1Bathroom, Sleeps 3

DISCOUNT 10% - Stay During May 1 - June 30, 2015 - Valid on new bookings!

This two-bedroom/one-bath Trastevere condominium features marble and granite floors, French doors, a European ceramic bathroom with a shower, and in-unit laundry facilities.

The building is a modern, elevator-equipped, mid-rise brick building with a panoramic view from the private balcony.

Located just a four minute walk from the Trastevere Train Station, within one block of the Rome public bus system, a three minute walk to the tram, and within walking distance of many of Rome's wonders including the Vatican which is about three miles away.

This bright and airy condominium has been completely renovated. It's clean, and comfortably furnished with modern accommodations and all amenities for up to three guests.

Within walking distance there is a daily, open-air market which offers fresh fruit, foods, and flowers along with local wares and crafts. The neighboring streets have a variety of stores, restaurants, and service-oriented businesses, as well as beautiful residences.

The condominium is just off of the main street of Viale Trastevere, on Trastevere about a three minute walk you can board the #8 electric tram and be at Piazza Sonnino in just five minutes or stay on until the end of the line at Largo Argentino after another three minutes travel. When you get off you will see the ruins of the theater steps on which the Emperor Cesar said 'Et Tu Brute' before he died. From there a short walk will take you to all the famous sites such as the Pantheon (stop just across the street at Taza D'Oro for what Katie Couric and I agree is the best coffee in the world), Piazza Navone (check out the movie 'Return to Me' to get a preview of what this area is like), The Trevi Fountain ( 'Three Coins in the Fountain'), The Spanish Steps ( 'Roman Holiday'), Campo de Fiori ( where you should spend an afternoon soaking up the atmosphere), and make sure to go window shopping on Via del Corso.

For a quick trip to Vatican City from the Trastevere Train Station you can board the FR3 or FR5 train and go one stop to the San Pietro Station. This is also not a bad walk if you walk along Viale Trastevere to the river and then follow it to Via Della Conciliazonione and enter into Piazza Di San Pietro. The train will be faster.

On Via Carlo Ponti, less than a two minute walk, the # 3 bus takes you to the Colosseum and all of Ancient Rome.

It is very easy to get around, by bus, tram, train, or taxi. There is a Taxi stand where cabs are always waiting at the Trastevere Train Station. One does not hail a taxi on the street in Rome, rather the taxis line up conveniently near all the major sites. All the sites mentioned are less than three and a half miles from the condominium. In fact over the years I think I have walked to all of them when I have taken friends to Rome.

The condominium is in a residential area that has many restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and interesting streets to meander down and buy anything you might need. Some of my guests say they found the best cappuccino on the cornerright outside and they felt the restaurants in the neighborhood had the best food and prices in Rome. There are bulletin boards in the hallway filled with recommendations and cards left by guests. They all comment on how wonderful it is to be able to do all the tourist sites and return to a real Roman neighborhood to relax afterward.

Porta Portese, Rome's largest and oldest Sunday market, offers an extravagant selection of treasures and necessities -- something for everyone!

The condo's Trastevere location is an ideal spot from which to discover Rome's beauty and colorful sites. One can savor the centuries of history in this vibrant Eternal City.

About Barbara Wallace

I have always enjoyed many different cultures across the globe in my travels. Living in the Trastevere area of Rome and having attended Marymount International School in the Montemario part of Rome, exposed me to the many facets of this International city. The advantage of having homes in Rome and Chicago has further allowed me to appreciate the adventures, the history, and the arts that each trip to Rome provides.

Barbara Wallace purchased this apartment in 1998

Why Barbara Wallace chose Trastevere area

In 1998 an opportunity presented the chance to buy this property in the Trastevere area. I knew I would enjoy the convenient access to all the main historical sites as well as the sense of neighborhood that living in a residential area brings. The ease of taking the train directly from the Fumiccino (Leonardo Da Vinci) Airport to the Trastevere train station and walking the five minutes to the condominium makes one realize how unnecessary a private car is in Rome. Having the train, electric tram, buses and taxis so convenient I never feel the need for a car once I'm settled in Rome either.

What makes this apartment unique

Living most of the year in Chicago does make it favorable for North Americans to call and communicate with me because of the similar time zones while having dependable help in Rome allows me to assist my guests in ensuring their stay is comfortable and any problems that may occur can be taken care of quickly.

Wonderful Place to Stay When in Rome

  • 5 of 5

My son and I stayed in this beautiful, spacious apartment when we went to Rome. It was very clean, bright and airy. It had all the conveniences from home including a washer and dryer. We loved standing on the balcony looking over the city. Being so close to the train station made it very easy to get around. Barb was very helpful and answered all our questions about the apartment and gave us a lot of tourist advice. We would definitely stay in this beautiful apartment again next time we visit Rome.

Vacation Heaven in the Heart of Trastevere

  • 5 of 5

When two of my girlfriends and I were looking for a vacation, deciding on Rome was pretty easy - wine/carbs/gorgeous, historic city? Yes please. Finding the perfect place to stay was a little more difficult. My landlord led us to this gorgeous apartment for rent in Trastevere - a little area right outside of the main city that is peaceful and more of a neighborhood than staying in a hotel in downtown Rome. It was the perfect location because we were just a quick tram ride or cab ride away from historic landmarks like the Colosseum and the Vatican but had a "home away from home" in Trastevere, surrounded by great little markets and excellent restaurants.

The apartement itself was clean, comfortable and easy to access. We also loved the little balcony out front. It also made you feel like you were actually in Italy versus some of the more Americanized hotels that could be replicated in NYC or LA.

Overall we had a wonderful stay at the apartment - it was the perfect fit for the three of us. Our only disappointment was the trip went by too fast.

Cozy, Nice Apartment in a lovely Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Trastevere! The apartment was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Having been to Rome twice before, it was great to explore a new neighborhood and really experience the city on a more local level. The tram along Viale di Trastevere was very easy to use, with a stop just a block away from the apartment, and took us up to the Piazza Santa Maria where we could wander the side streets, shop and sit down for lunch at a cute cafe or across the River and into the city proper. The apartment is also walking distance from the Trastevere train station which is easy for travel purposes. Would definitely recommend it to friends!

Wonderful Place to Stay in Rome

  • 5 of 5

My husband, teenage daughter, and I just returned from a 10 night stay at the apartment. It was just as described and shows exactly as photographed. It is clean, comfortable, and spacious with wifi, a working elevator, and air conditioning. The apartment is located outside of the Rome city center, but it is convenient to everything. Public transportation by train, bus, or tram is available with only a short walk from the front door of the apartment. There was never a need for a car. We really appreciated being living outside the "regular" tourist areas. We felt like we got a chance to experience life as the locals do. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the area and shopping is nearby, too. The apartment is equipped with a washing machine, but it was more convenient for us to take our clothes to the laundry on the corner and let someone else wash, dry and fold while we enjoyed the city. We loved the neighborhood market around the corner (on Carlo Porto). We got fresh bread, cheeses and meats there. Everyone in the area was friendly and even though we could not speak a word of Italian, we felt very comfortable. I highly recommend this apartment, if you are planning a trip to Rome. Booking and payment were a breeze and the owner is very helpful, offering tips and advice before you even get there. If my future travels take me back to Rome, I would love to stay at the apartment again.

A peaceful oasis

  • 5 of 5

After coping with the crowds it was wonderful to come home to a quiet comfortable place to study maps and guidebooks (all provided in the apartment) before venturing out for more excitement. Having Barbara in the US, exchanging emails and answering questions, was a definite plus. There were more amenities than we used, choosing to take advantage of the various delicious dining options nearby and somewhat intimidated by the complexity of the washer/dryer (and we had more than enough clean clothes for our week stay). We used money belts when on public transportation and among big crowds and had no problems with pickpockets, although most web sites are warning us about them these days.

The apartment was exactly as described and we had an awesome time in Roma.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this lovely apartment for 6 nights while visiting my daughter who was studying abroad. The apartment is just as described, very well equipped, comfortable and clean. It is a very convenient base in Rome as it is near the train and tram stops. The owner, Barbara, was a pleasure to deal with and the whole process went very smoothly. Great coffee shop on corner, supermarket a few blocks away and nice restaurant New Station across the street. You will not go wrong choosing this apartment.
