Pohoiki House Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Full Bathroom, sleeps 2-4. Covered lanais BBQ, large grassy lawn

Enjoy a wonderful holiday stay in our recently-built vacation home with all the modern conveniences: 1 bedroom / 1 bath (sleeps 2 – 4). Fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, high speed internet and satellite TV. Very reasonable rates. Located in lush rain forest south of Hilo. Situated on one acre in a quiet spot that is still an easy drive to local attractions, beaches, hiking & volcano and lava viewing. Kiluaea is always changing.

Near Leilani Estates on a paved county road with clean, clear county water. (Many roads in this area are not paved, and water is catchment). Leilani Estates with its variety of eclectic homes and very little traffic is a great place for a morning walk or run.

Large covered lanai in front for relaxing and rainbow viewing, even more spacious rear lanai invites you to enjoy the spectacular sunrises and warm Hawaiian sun in complete privacy.

Get Away from it All: We just recently acquired this modern-style Hawaiian hale. It has all the conveniences of home – High speed Internet, HD satellite TV--combined with the relaxed, easygoing Island lifestyle. A bit in the country, so folks are friendly, the song of the frogs is quite captivating, fruit falls in the road (literally!) for you to enjoy; but the ocean, Volcano, and town are only minutes away.

If you plan on getting some work done while you are here, most mobile phones work fine

Internet is available full-time on broadband DSL by plugging in your PC or by wireless. There is a computer desk for serious tasks, then you're ready to rock that Hawaiian karma.

Relax and enjoy, or work then relax. You can do it all here!

Margaritaville--where we go to unwind: Our one-bedroom, one bath vacation home is a small but space-efficient home. It has a large covered lanai across the front of the house in the event of one of our showers, and a new, larger rear lanai for enjoying your morning coffee, BBQing and sunbathing. There is one separate bedroom with a comfy queen bed, and a bathroom with tub/shower. The living room sofa-sleeper opens into a queen-size bed – with an extra mattress pad and pillow-soft mattress topper available so it's quite comfortable.

There is no central air conditioning. The cool evenings after a warm day keep it comfortable. Ceiling fans and attic fan assist in climate control, at your discretion.

Furnshed for comfortable utility: The house is comfortably furnished and ready to satisfy your needs for enjoying life while on vacation. The living room –dining room - kitchen areas are in one great room with a vaulted ceiling. There is a large center counter/bar for easy entertaining. An Indonesian glass-top rattan table completes the dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, coookware and utensils, dishware and flatware for six. There is extra storage space, a large capacity refrigerator, and storage containers. The kitchen is designed and equipped for meal prep or just warming something up.

Covered area and gas barbeque as well, for those who prefer that adventure.

Property manager just down the road for any questions or requests.

We stayed for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed more. The house is very secluded and private....perfect for a relaxing vacation. If you are looking for a rural setting that is still close to a lot of amazing sights, this is the place.

Charming Puna Hide-away

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in the "little pink house in the jungle". The house is comfortably furnished for a couple and has a homey feel to it. The surrounding grounds are lovely, with a variety of palms and ti plants, banana, lime and decorative bamboo, set against the ohia and hala forest. This house is in a family-friendly neighborhood with nice folks usually greeting you with a wave and a smile..

It's a comfortable drive into Pahoa, Ke'eau and Hilo. For fun at the beach, the tidal pools of Kapoho, the hot ponds and the black sand beach at Kehena are all easily accessed from here. The nearby towns offer a wide and tasty range of local and ethnic fare. The farmers markets are a fun way to shop for some of the best local produce on the planet and also offer unique arts and local crafts. If you choose to explore the wonders of East Hawai'i, this little home in the jungles of Puna is a great place to do it from.

10 Day Stay

  • 3 of 5
This little house was a good location for seeing everything we want to see. We really enjoyed the privacy and it was very clean. You don't need an alarm clock as the neighborhood roosters like to come over every morning to say hello. We were amazed at how dark it gets at night which can make it interesting trying to find your way in the dark. The coqui frogs are abundant in this area and will sing to you through the night.

Owner's Response: It is a wonderful location for sightseeing, and so private for relaxing. The charm of the country and it's local roosters is delightful, the cocqui are amazing little creatures who make it sound like spring all year 'round. Excellent stargazing makes the dark skies of the Big Island an added benefit to all it's other attractions. So much to love!

cute house in the paradise

  • 5 of 5
This cute pink house was in the paradise location. very quiet, secluded and lots of green. The yards are huge and well maintained. there are guava trees and some banana trees. one of the banana tree was having banana on when I was there. it is close to many fun activity locations such as lava tree park, isac hale park (which is a swimmerable ocean park and you can also camp there), great red road, small cute town of pahoa and sunday farmers markets are very close, lava viewing area, natural thermal hot ponds, and kapoho swimming ponds and many more.. you can explore more everyday. I also was able to purchase fresh egg and raw honey from their neighbor. they were delicious. the house is new and maintained very well, also very clean.
internet and telephone are working great entire house.
I enjoyed quiet night with some movies from the dish network TV which had more channel than I expected.
there is BBQ grill outside also. I stayed in other location of the island, and this is probably one of my favorite place to stay!!

Fantastic last minute vacation!

  • 5 of 5
I found this lovely home just in time for a last minute vacation site change. I was absolutely perfect for us (2 adults, 1 child)! The home has everything you need for any length of stay. Close to Hwy 137 which is a beautiful drive along the coast. Also, the Kapoho Tide Pools is an excellent place to snorkel which is also not far from the home (we liked it better than the Kona side, but to each is own of course!) The breezes come through the windows quite nicely making evenings and night time very pleseant and comfortable. Nature very much comes alive at night but we loved it, especially my 6 year old! I highly recommend this home to those who are considering it. Tina, who manages the home, is wonderful and very helpful. Great vacation on Hawai'i!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the wonderful review. We try hard to please. Pahoa and the natural attractions and people-friendliness of the Puna Coast make that job easy.

It's always our pleasure to make any vacation - especially a last-minute getaway - an enjoyable, hassle-free respite from the stresses of the daily grind. Sometimes on Oahu at Waikiki, or even in Kailua-Kona or Waikoloa area, you can still feel the pressure and stress - from crowded sidewalks, slow-moving traffic and people in a rush to be someplace. Puna is very different, however. It's more like the original Hawai'i. It's never as wet they say. There is plenty of sunshine and plenty of smiling faces, abundant fruit and flowers, and loads of Aloha spirit, too. Besides, there as some stunning sights, lush valleys, tree-canopied winding roads, and isolated beaches and coves near by and within a short drive.

Come see what they're missing on the Kona side. Make a point to stay in the real Hawaiian paradise in Puna - home of Kilauea and Volcanoes National Park.

Pohoiki, (3.5 miles south of Pahoa) is an excellent location for visiting the amazing local attractions of Puna, and is a great home base for day trips to the other magnificent sightseeing spots around the Orchid Isle of Hawaii. We all want the most for our vacation, and this is it! The most relaxed location on the island. No dress codes here! Pahoa town is a destination in itself. Ahalanui hot pond (geothermal) park, state and county parks nearby. The weather is seldom the same all day. Occasional showers produce fabulous rainbows in the AM. No worries, you'll be basking by noon!

Volcano, beaches, lava viewing, shopping, all just minutes away; but the peace and privacy of the country are yours to enjoy.

Other Activities: Enjoy turtle watching at local beaches, exploring tidepools and swimming in the geothermal heated waters. A trip to Kilauea is a must, a visit to Mauna Kea great for the adventurous stargazer. There are several local farmers markets and farmstands, and cool shops in Pahoa; or venture into Hilo for serious shopping.

Golf: There are public golf courses available in Hilo (20-25 minutes away)

Ski: Skiing / snowboarding is possible on the heights of Mauna Kea (during Dec-Feb). It is less than an hour and half drive away on newly expanded Saddle Road.
