Welcome!:
Our family home for 50 years, the Orchard House is surrounded by magnificent oak trees, wildlife, a barn and corral and access to all of the great sites and activities available in Ukiah Valley and Mendocino County. This property offers privacy and the wonderful climate of the California Coast Range and wine country. Enjoy drives to the redwoods and the Mendocino coast, visits to local wineries and brewpubs, and the pleasures of a family home. The house comfortably sleeps five or six guests in three bedrooms – or more if you’d like to use the living room sofa and/or blow up mattresses - and is fully equipped for dining, barbeque's, television, movies, and games. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, cookware, coffee pot and microwave. Cable Internet and unlimited local and nation-wide (sorry, not international) phone service is also provided. Wild turkeys and deer will greet you as you view the 2 ½ acres of property through floor to ceiling windows. Enjoy the large patio or deck.
Enjoy the area:
Ukiah Valley, in the heart of Mendocino County, can be found two hours north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate, straight up scenic Highway 101. The area is great for sight seeing, biking on country roads, water sports at Lake Mendocino, fishing in the Russian River, and golfing at Ukiah Municipal Golf Course. The world famous mineral baths of Vichy Hot Springs (billed as Jack London’s favorite spot) are less than three miles away. Orr Hot Springs bubbles only 18 miles west of town, next to some of the world’s tallest trees in majestic Montgomery Woods. Clear Lake and Blue Lakes are each just an hour east over the mountains. Drive 19 miles over the mountains just west and discover Booneville and the beauty of apple orchards and vineyards in Anderson Valley. Another 10 miles west of Booneville you come to Hendy Woods State Park with its serenely beautiful grove of old growth redwoods. Continue on to the Pacific coast to drive along the coastal terraces and take in magnificent views.
Have some fun!:
For wine enthusiasts, many local wineries are but a short drive from the Orchard House, including Brutocao Cellars, Jepson Winery, Jeriko Estate, Il Cuore Wine Cellars, Parducci Winery, and Redwood Valley Cellars. Napa Valley and Sonoma County wineries are also easily reached via scenic drives of only one to two hours. If brew pubs are your forte, visit the Ukiah Brewing Company in downtown Ukiah, or the Mendocino Brewing Company in Hopland, only 15 minutes south of Ukiah. Ukiah Valley also boasts many cultural attractions. Enjoy ‘Sundays in the Park’ during the summer months for live music, food and entertainment beneath giant redwoods at Todd Grove Park. Ukiah Players Theatre and Mendocino College perform numerous plays, concerts and musicals throughout the year. Other cultural events are provided year round by the Ukiah Civic Light Opera, the Mendocino Ballet, and the Ukiah Community Concert Association. There’s truly something for everyone!
