The beach 'Kop van Noord-Holland' - as the peninsula is called in the province of North Holland, a 30 km long coastline on the North Sea with beautiful resorts such as Den Helder, Huisduinen Julianadorp village of Groote, Schagen, Sint Maartenszee and Petten features. The sandy beach is easily accessible anywhere through a small dune area. There are several possibilities for leisure activities, including for kite flying and kite surfing. For the safety of tourists, the coast is everywhere constantly monitored by teams of rescue brigade.
The coastal protection consists of a narrow, very sensitive dune reserve. Petten from this dune area is interrupted by the 5.5-km-called Hondsbossche Zeewering that runs up to Camperduin and protects the land off the North Sea. In 2002, all coastal areas have received the so-called Blue Flag again. This award of the European Union guarantees the tourists including a safe and clean beach and clean sea water.
