We wanted privacy, quiet, wildlife, history and space to spread out, in addition to not having to drive too far to get into downtown Carmel. The Acorn provided all in a gorgeous and comfortable setting like no other I have experienced in the US. We will go back again, and although we were just two, this huge space could truly and comfortably accommodate the 10 that is indicated. The ocean view is magnificent, and at night you can even hear seals, even though you are atop a hill and set back from the ocean, visible from points all over the property. This is a secure and lovely place, and there is ample space and decking to enjoy the beautiful ocean, gardens and outdoors. It is perfect for getting a dinner together, and there are several wood-burning fireplaces. When we got lazy, we drove all of 5 minutes to get to the Rio Grill, and maybe 10 to get into downtown Carmel. This has also turned out to be a great point from which to launch day trips to Big Sur and beyond. Living in a dense city like San Francisco, we really appreciated the fact that no one was around us up there in that house--no neighbors, no trafic noise, no one wandering around. We will go back again. If you are a golfer, you can actually see Pebble Beach out the front window--there are many courses closeby. This property will not disappoint. It always exceeds our expectations and we love going back.
